You *DO* know that the Soviet Union had a sub standard navy for many years and Germany actually lost two world wars.....

 

Admittedly they both have some nice enhancements... but they are minor TILL either your ship is nearly sunk or the game is nearly over.

 

Maybe if you had tweaked ALL the German BB's it might be worth it... but its not like the German line has a Yamato with bulk hit points.... and who would stick him in a CV????

 

For 175,000 coal times two... you could buy at least two decent ships.... WoWs were greedy with the PR and now they act deluded.

 

If this is the way its going to be now, I can see WoWs declining in popularity in 2020... War Thunder is looking better and better by the day.

why there is SMS Karlsruhe on the picture? Lutjens was not commander of this Karlsruhe cruiser. You are again misleading us...

 

And why has Gneisenau 381mm guns in this "historical" article???

because the unique commanders are not really unique... why they call them that, I have no idea why? Trying to con people again?

Click on the commanders (for 175k coal) and you can see their abilities... still not worth it... double a normal commander, say, 70K coal.... and even then.... it would be a cold day in hell before I'd buy one.... even with coal.

From the article - In 1934, Lütjens became commander of light cruiser Karlsruhe.

As others have said, nowhere near worth that much coal. His abilities are nearly useless, especially for a BB - one will never get enough main battery hits, for example.

As for his career, he made a HUGE mistake when he didn't finish off the Prince of Wales (only 1 turret was working by the end of the battle), and then return to Germany with the Prinz Eugen after sinking the Hood.

At any rate, WG isn't getting any of my coal for Christmas, at least not for Günther.

I ask WG,... will he be in somekind of task as reward.
Like all others were.
even only briefly and just ones.

175000 coal is nice for those who didn't want or could finish the former tasks.
now this commander is ONLY to be obtained for coal ! ???

You give him only one special skill....
because only one fits per class......
and will only help (activate) when battle ends....

he's neither flesh nor fowl... his Skills are all over the place. It seems WG thought: "OK, basically all other Unique Commanders are more or less intended for a certani line, but due to flexible improved and unique skills they are also quite useful for other lines. So lets take Lütjens and give him for everything a Little bit so that he can do everything a tiny bit but nothing good. Jack of All trades, master of None, pathetic at all!"

 

I would've either went: Either turn him into THE German BB Commander, maybe with improved Manual firing of the secondary or something, OR Turn him into the German DD (with aspirations towards cruisers) Commander, based on his role as Führer der Torpedoboote, Commander of Torpedo boats, which included the german DDs.

 

In the later case, we could'Ve gotten Kapitän Lindemann as BB specialist a few years down the line.

 

Without the 140 Main Battery hit requirement i would've said "Lütjens would work well for the german big gun dds!"...

 

I guess they didn't want Lütjens to potentially rival Kuznetsov as "premier" BB Captain..
