Between myself and clan member today we did Santas big boxs.

Fellow member of clan bought 80 Santa's Big boxes and had 17 ships drop !!!! Seen live on by 4 clan players. Plus 180 days of Premium !!!

I did 60 Santa's Big Boxes and have had ZERO (YES 0)  ships !!!!!

HOW is this possible .............. ???????????

Is this some sort of Wargaming middle finger aimed at its regular players?

It's called gambling. You'll find similar circumstances occurring right now at your nearest casino.

And that's the truth of the matter.

But even gambling statistically should allow at least 1 ship for 60 boxes !!!!

I really feel gutted by being arse butted by WG

Loot boxes are gambling.

You gambled and lost.

Congratulations on playing.

Wg thanks you for spending lots of money on something RNG based :cap_like:

On a serious note. Everyone knows loot boxes are a stupid gamble unless you are willing to throw money away. You made your bet and lost. Crying when you don't win your bet won't change the drop rate or rules...

You don't fully grasp the concept of gambling and odds do you...

Sorry to say it, but it doesn't work that way.

I'm sincerely encouraging you avoid this altogether in the future. Learn from this. It's something that shouldn't even exist in this game to begin with.

Yes, it can allow it, but cannot guarantee it.

What it does guarantee is that I will stop being STUPID by being tempted by this illegal form of gambling.

Containers have been banned in Belgium.....  I'm sure the French authorities would also been interested in this form of undeclared gambling.

  • That is a good decision
  • but gambling is not illegal
  • and these containers are not illegal in Belgium either, they just require some paperwork

Were they definitely big boxes, the blue ones? If they were the regular Santa's Gift Containers (the brown ones) then those have such an appalling drop rate for ships that no drops from 60 is pretty standard. If your clan mate got 180 days of premium, that means it dropped from a mega crate as the big ones only drop 90 days (unless there were two drops of course).

People on the forums and reddit have been compiling drop rates from the different containers. Seems to be about a 10% drop rate for ships from the big containers. If you buy 60 then there's a 99.8% (1 - 0.9^60) chance you'll drop at least one ship, however due to the way chance works there's no such thing as a guarantee. If you did buy 60 of the big ones, then you just got the 0.02% and were incredibly unlucky. Such are the risks of gambling.

I'm sure someone will correct my maths if I'm wrong!

I'm starting to love these threads despite them being annoying.

Loot boxes are gambling and if you buy them you accept the possibility of getting nothing useful in return. That's it.

Rigged? Even if they are.. do you have control over that? Didn't think so.

When you gamble you accept all odds against you and you should be fine with the fact that the money you put on gamble is lost money.

You can go to the nearest casino, put money or the same (or any) number 60 times and let me know how many times you won.

THERE IS NO GUARANTEED PRIZE when it comes to gambling. Period.

Yes we were both doing Santa's Big Boxes ;;;; 2 x 90 days premium . Plus he got Kamikaze, Fujun, Loyang and Emp Nicolai amonst those dropped.

This post is intend to make aware other players that 0 ships out 60 boxes is possible and has even more probability of happening than having 17 out 60 !!

This distaste that has grown in me is difficult to put into words !!!!! I'm a NOOB for gambling and been dupped by Wargaming false hopes.............

It's called gambling addiction, and you sir, seem to be an addict.

You see people getting good stuff everywhere, but that's not what happens. You only get to see people getting good stuff. Lot of people (including me) got only flags and camos or whatever the :etc_swear: from them, nobody wants to brag about that, so you don't see it. You don't see people getting camos and flags, thus you buy your own crates and get disappointed when you get nothing valuable.

You think the ship drop rate formular is like "(amount of $ you have already spent for WOWs) * 0,01 %"? That would be really nefarious, oh my.

Listen while the answers you give him are correct (he gambled and lost) he is right as in the possibility of winning NOTHING at all is not prominently featured in the rules (or at all). This makes it, for the casual gamer/buyer, easy to get duped due to say 'misreading' the fine print. It is something that is frowned upon in EU I believe but still it happens. I take this post as a firm warning.

It's called gambling and of cause it's all rigged in WG favour, they are desperate for cash, you got suckered in, the real world, this bunch would be labelled criminals, now WG may think that s harsh, but the truth hurts !  ... awaits the wrath of mods,  for daring to upset the Russian Mafia !

What exactly did you get? Do you remember? Even though its probable to not get any ships its so highly unlikely that the reasonable explanation is not that you are unlucky but that RNG is not actually random but somehow manipulated. I would open a support ticket and ask them kindly to check your results.

Not sure what you asking here as I won doubloons, coal, signals, camo etc. No ships which is the reason I buy containers, or should I say did !!!! The amounts of which I've forgotten.

In any case, some people will say its WG way robbing you and I fell for it !!! Probably like many other.................
