What you can still do during the Christmas event

Now that the rage against the Puerto Rico has been discussed well enough, i want to point out the other stuff you can do during the event. Apart from the obvious snow flake stuff, you can still unlock tier 7 Gorizia in a reasonable amount of time and do the corresponding combat mission chain afterwards. For that you get 2 permanent camos for tier 8, which might be my favourite reward this time since you can choose your favourite ship to put them on.

If you ignore the ship building part, we actually get better rewards this year compared to the stuff from last year (snowflakes, t6 Prinz Eitel Friedrich, 5 camos for selected tier 6 ships for doing a campaign). However you get alot less steel and the popular purchaseable steel monster campaign is also gone.

I prefer to sit back and relax during the hoilday season, as even the Gorizia grind is quite a feat to accomplish. If you bothered to look you'd notice that even that one is several magnitudes harder to do then last years Prinz Eitel Friedrich.

Without the Gorizia everything else falls apart.

For what they did, WG doesn't even deserve that much attention from me. I can't even be bothered to look at those directives again.

Right now those fools were foolish enough to give me FreeXP signals from those 4 Santa's gift containers, and armed me up with what I need to grind out Alaska(The better Puerto Rico by the way).

And that's E X A C T L Y what I'm going to do.

About Gorizia though? I don't know. She's basically a Zara with a fancy perma camo. That's about it. Can't see much use of her aside from populating harbours of collectors, and training pasta boat captains.

Best Regards, Snake :Smile_honoring:

It's all rather subjective though isn't it, one mans precious material is steel, while anothers is coal, while anothers is premium time...etc etc etc....events is a massive let down, not completely. but most of it.

Consider it an incidental ship. You buy the Gorizia, get an easier grind on the first three directives, get the doubloons back, buy something else that you wanted when the post-Christmas discounts come in. Then you use the Gorizia to get the New Year perma camos through her missions, pick up a few Tier VI ships (or the equivalent in credits) and then leave it in port to collect snowflakes or whenever you fancy taking it out in Narai.

Well, 85k, 105k bxp, multiple 48k bxp per class do not exactly fit my definition of reasonable :D

(actually the xp tasks are silly too, but at least you can ease those with camos and flags, if you are swimming in them of course)

This is supposed to be christmas holidays ffs.

Snowflakes are still there yes, but the T10 crates are trash.

All in all a very poor event, the best things are the spared money and time gained by ignoring it, much better used in other games.

At this point it would be better to kickstart a new naval game to replace wows :D

I would suppport such a project as long as the developer isn't from the Magical Motherland of Balans. If it looked half decent I'd switch in an instant.

My plan is to get back in randoms and grind some of the T8 that I have been ignoring for far too long.

Also I am looking forward to play "La Fantastique" as I just bought the ship yesterday.

Besides that ... obligatory Narai farming....

For the pr directives.? If so it wouldn't be soon enough to finish building it in time . :fish_glass:

Carefully planned so you'll need to spend your money either way. Either for boosters and complete build or for Early Acces to Gorizia.

Yes you can but actually it's not worth it. After Directive 3 there is no Gorizia mission that means having that ship doesnt give you any extra advantage for PR.

If u manage to get Gorizia, her missions are not simple either. You need give your time for her. For What ? 6 Shipbuilding Containers ? It's not worth it.

Actually, Entire Directives are not worth to play. I was very exciting about steel which i can get from Directives and PR construction. I would take my Stalingrad end of year with coupon.

I was planning to play about 4 - 5 hours in Winter Break to get everything. But Special Thanks to WG here we are.

I suggest you dont do it. You just gonna make yourself slave to game. Directives are very hard, it requires a lot of time. When u got booster, u will force yourself to complete it and you just get angry.

Do you really believe you can complete 2,3 and 4 directives in 3 day after day opened ?

I think 1-2-3 directives doable. But 4th directive can make me angry as you say :) Gifts have already started to arrive:))

Most acceptable way is buying two booster with dublons. With 1 it would be very hard. Without booster it's nearly impossible.

If i'll go for PR. I would probably go for two booster.

But i didn't decided yet. I still have a hope that WG could fix this little bit. If they do, i'll definitely gonna buy 1 booster.

No just for therewards of the Gorizia tasks. I'm not trying to grind the PR or spend any money on this. Ty :Smile_honoring:

The 7-day long Ranked Sprint is going to be a distraction from the PR grind, because Ranked won't count after Directive 2. I wonder who I'll be up against, for like the three days I'll actually be at home and able to play it!

I was hemming and hawing  about buying Gorizia, but I've decided to stick to me original plan: earn the ship for free and spend a much smaller amount in January if/when I receive the traditional 30% coupon.

They'll be a lot of Premium time coming up from daily log-in and Dockyard rewards, so I'll be timing them to help the 3rd Directive grind in Operations.

I'll do what I can of the Gorizia combat missions, but am no longer bothered whether I get the NY permanent camos or not. I'm not going to stress about this event any longer or even give it more thought. I've run the maths already  and made my decision.

For those really interested in PR, remember that Sub_Octavian has indicated it will acquirable in other ways after the event (without going into details). Only the permanent camouflage is unique to the event.

Eeeh.

As @MrFingers has shown, the Gorizia grind is worse than the Duke of York and Prinz Eitel Friedrich grinds from previous years, and those were a bit much.

The only not-quite-so-gloomy spot is that you have a bit more leeway in regards to finishing the last directive (of the Gorizia grind, just to be clear), since it's released earlier than previous years.

You are absolutely right. The hardest things are the 48k base xp missions in directive 3, from which you need to do twice at minimum. At least it is open 8 days after the event start at 12. december.

Last year the event started at 20. december and the final directive for Prinz Eitel Friedrich unlocked 3 weeks afterwards. If I remember it right we had one or two weeks to do the campaign for the new year camos and t6 ships. Btw there was also a chain of combat missions for Prinz Eitel Friedrich which gaved us 2019 steel, that is also missing this year with no counterpart.

Yes, it becomes easier with Gorizia, and if you reach directive 3, you get the purchase price "reimbursed" in doubloons. Still requires you to fork over money to WG in the first place, which since last week is out of the question.
