[PSA] An apology for poor event presentation and a bit of spreadsheet

Here is how to best make it up to the player base - make the detectives less grindy -  remove a few 0's from the requirements, and give the missions more synergy between each-other making them easier & quicker to complete, offer compensation of  possibly a Santa Crate or Ship Building Tokens to make up for these absolutely disgraceful detectives.

 

This was a fantastic premise for a possible permanent feature - if you make the above mentioned changes to make this actually an acceptable and viable grind during the limited free time players have during the Christmas season, or reduce the Doubloon price for the Boosters and needed to complete construction - just reducing the Doubloon costs would make this more acceptable & more justifiable given the time restaint, it'll also help calm players down.

 

The cost of 1 T10 pixel Battlecruiser in Doubloons should NOT be almost the same cost of 1 year M.O.T. & Road Tax for a U.K. driver, it should NOT equal or be more than the price of a small cruise, or flight from London to St. Petersburg or Toronto to Miami, it should NOT be more money than a brand new X Box One.

 

Similar to what iChase did in his video here are some games you could buy ALL of which for the same price:

- Naval Action (Relatively New - Released June 2019) 

- Titanic VR (Relatively New - Released August 2018)

- From the Depths

- Stormworks

- Space Engineers

- UBOAT (Relatively New - Released April 2019)

- BeamNG Drive

- Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts (Early Access - Pre-Order)

Or ALL of these Premium Ships:

- VIII - Massachusetts 

- VIII Alabama 

- VIII Tirpitz

- VIII Lenin

- VI Perth

- V Exeter

- Or swap Lenin out for IV Ishizuchi and VI Admiral Graf Spee  

 

The community aren't so much annoyed and angry that its the PR being hard to get but more so the fact that you lied to us all and it wasn't a small little fib it was a full blown lie saying that it will be able to be completed for free and everyone will have the chance to get the ship within time, when in-fact you either lock yourself away for the whole month grinding stupid detectives or pay for it - it's like a giant middle finger to the player base and this apology isn't really helping the situation as ni changes are being made to the detectives to make it up to the player base it may as well say 'Sorry not Sorry'.

Please WG listen to the player base edit and fix these stupid requirements on the detectives and appalling doubloon prices of boosters & early completion, before the community gets even more annoyed, looses a lot of trust in you, and possibly stops buying things from you completely.

 

The last time the community got this annoyed was with NTC/RB and you  acknowledged that and rectified it and the player base accepted,  please rectify this too, it'll be worth it, your more likely to get more people buying the PR if you lower the doubloon cost than you are leaving it like this, in-fact lowering the cost would be made up for by more people spending money on it, and reducing the requirements on the detectives so F2P and the average players have a chance will greatly improve public relations with the player base and make the community happy.

It kinda says something when the most looked forward to feature of the patch to end the year has been meet with as much dissapointment and has annoyed the players equally or worse than NTC/RB did.

 

Please WG for the love of the game please FIX THIS AND SHOW THE PLAYERS YOU ARE SORRY.

Apology wont fix anything.

Directives missions, basically force the players to play the game minimum 8 or more hours in one day, to complete all of them. ( Maybe even 8 hours wont be enough )

I understand this event gives, Two Premium ships in Tier 7 and Tier X.

So missions should be harder than usual.

 

But what are those ?

Earn 350.000 Free Exp ?

Earn 580.000 Commander Exp ?

Earn 2700 Ribbons ?

7.200 Secondary hit ? 

 

They are just example of few. Mission requirements should be decrease to optimal numbers.

 

Other way, you are gonna start to lose more players like before. Give people to something they can actually complete.

You remember the thing called research berou? Oh gess what i restarted 3 lines (way before this event even started), cuz i was told go ahead restart you gonna be abel to get the rewords no mater what no hurry. DAM was i a dummy to belive WG! Guess what no coal, no steal, no santa boxes for thouse lines. TNX WG this even is going awsome. If i knew that i wouldn't bother with stupid NTC.

At the beginning I was not sure what the outcry was about - how bad could the grind be? Then I saw it and wow, it's pretty steep. 

The good thing is that it's clear I don't stand a chance, so I want even bother for the PR. The most I can hope for is Gorizia. 1st directive was ok, I completed in ~ 3 days without too much trouble but the next 2 should take probably 2-3 X more time, at least. 

This + any free goodies from the PR stage progress with the few free upgrades I manage to buy should be ok.

WG, Your apology just doesnt cut it, What you tried to pull is disgusting and in some countries illegal even though you have gone back and edited the article. you keep pulling dirty tricks to try and con people out of their money and keep apologising for your mistakes but keep making the same ones, because of this I do not for a second believe they are mistakes as your actions speak far louder than your words. I for one will not be taking part in the Xmas/New year events and certainly now will not be spending any more money on this game until things change. I had been looking forward to this event but will now spend my spare time on other games. You demand people not only spend an extraordinary amount of time on this ship but Money as well at this time of year and for that you should be utterly ashamed of yourself.

Hi all, i'm just the average joe who plays more for the fun of being with people on discord than scoring ranks and similar. As most of the people here I was excited about the PR event ( even though I daren't hope to get it in the end tosay the truth ) but as things have evolved I will surely forget about it.

 

What I bring here you today is question that I would like to have your opinion about it.

 

I've heard from a friend that a community contributor already received 24K doubloons to get the 3 boosters ( we're trying to recover the post so to give you all exact information)

 

If the PR event is for the most elite players/hardcore grinders in Wows...how it is that some Community Contributors have already received from WG doubloons to purchase the first three boosters? It doesn't seem fair that, if the objective was to give the Puerto Rico to only the elite player...that the same players receive free of charge doubloons to obtain the PR.

 

What do you think about this situation?

No point apologising for something that is so broken, having got the contributors to hype it up on line.  As a result I am not going to spend anything on any of your Christmas promotions, I would normally have bought some crates at least.

 

Rubbish customer service and very damaging to your brand and customer loyalty.  Forgot the vast majority of players to whom this is ridiculous to complete.

Here is my view:

 

1. An apology for poor communication is just that - an apology they didn't think before speaking. It does nothing to right a massive wrong and is therefore pretty much worthless.

2. This game lost its way ages ago and needs a radical overhaul ASAP. I set out my suggestions below but I seriously doubt WG will pay any real attention to any of this feedback (not just mine).

3. Sooner or later folk will vote with their feet and stop playing and stop paying real cash for virtual goods that are worthless in oh so many ways.

 

My suggestions:

1. Amend the directive IMMEDIATELY to make it more easily achievable by dedicated player who have win rates say between 45 - 55% and not just the elite players.

2. Compensate everyone with some doubloons (and especially those who sheeld out thousands under the misconception they could get the PR much easier by doing so but can't due to unrealistic directives).

3. Improve the stats of the Gorizia as right now its worthless and unattractive as hell.

4. In more general terms WG needs to radically rethink the whole game in this sense:

1. Too many things to do - Clan battles (T10 was a very bad move), Naval Battles, Directives, Ranked, Ranked Sprint, Combat Missions, special events... etc etc
2. Clan battles are impossible to do for small clans... T10 means many can't compete as few members have T10 ships; numbers required impossible for small clans (3v3 or 4v4 would be a big help).
3. STOP introducing ships that are essentially paper ships that are similar to ships already in game and are basically a means of milking players for even more money!
4. Please DO NOT bring in submarines until other issues are sorted.
5. IMHO Naval Battles and Clan Battles should be replaced by a rolling tournament along the lines of ShipStorm in the sense that teams of 3 players from clans can play in a tournament to earn rewards (better rewards for progressing further in each mini-tournament). EG:

Divisions:

These are based on teams being matched on basis of average Win rate for last 100 battles of each player (NOT OVERALL WR). So say there are 5 Divisions, could be as follows:

Division 5: Average WR of 5 players (inc 2 spares) is between 40 -45%

Division 4: Avg WR 45.1 - 48%

Division 3: Avg WR 48.1 - 50%

Division 2: Avg WR 50.1 - 53%

Division 1: Avg WR >53%

 

Actual algorithm decided by WG after crunching player database numbers for clans.

 

In each Division there would be rounds played be teams who signed up at start of week (al la Naval Battles).

Round 1:

a. 4 teams in a group play against each other - top 2 go though to next round. Have 8 groups of 4 players in each mini-tournament and have as many mini-tournament slots as needed to accomodate all those who sign up at start of week. Allow each team to have 2 spares in case a player is unable to play on a specific day.

b. Rewards for each battle in first round could be some flags and small amount of Steel (say 50) for a win, nothing for a loss and something for the rare draw..

 

Round 2:

a. Group made up of two sets of two top players from Round 1. Again players play each other and top 2 go though to Round 3. Again rewards for a win etc but better than in Round 1. 

b. Played on day after Round 1 (so Round 1 could be Friday, Round 2 Saturday).

 

Round 3:

a. Top 2 from previous round are now split across other 'sets' so Team A now plays Team C and Team B now plays Team D etc.

b. Sudden death - if you lose you are out, if you win you not only get Steel (say 250) but go through to next Round - of these there will be as many as needed to ensure numbers whittled down until there are say 20 teams left who get an award and move up a Division in next mini-tournament the following week. 

 

Note:

1. Those teams that don't get through to final round don't move up a Division in following week but either drop down a Division (Except those in Division 1 who would start there again) or stay in same Division following week if they reach final round but don't actually win it.

2. Winners of final round in each Division get rewards of more Steel plus other rewards such as Doubloons, premium etc.

3. Grand winners (top 20 teams who win their final rounds in their Division) not only get promoted to next Division up but get entered into a draw for containers with chance of a Premium Ship.

4. At end of year (or season) all winners of each Divisional mini-tournament get accepted into a Grand Final with similar rounds but better prizes with Grand Final Winners and two runners-up get special prizes.

 

What does everyone else think? Please note I see this as replaced Naval Battles, Clan Battles and Ranked.

I'm not going to waste much time on this post. Thanks for reminding me how bad WG can be! I was just looking to return to the game after a year away. I used to live for this game, it was literally my life outside of work, and just typing that makes me realise how sad that is! They want you to be a slave to the game and pay huge sums of money for the privilege. This is not an incentive for me to return and has completely put me off!

Normally I love this time of the year in warships and I do the events and shop some boxes but after this I am sad to say i got a bad taste in my mouth.

This year the let down for me was the change in the snow flake and the Puerto Rico fiasco.

I hope you see the way you are heading so i do not need to add war gaming to the list of company´s that made the black list this year.

i been playing world of warships since the beta and this is the worst event you have ever made i just dont feel like playing this game anymore  i was looking forward for the snowflake event and the  Puerto Rico Event and you guys messed it up big time it needs to be removed

Well... I was thinking to buy a boosters for doubloons but then I started some maths with... hold on... I am not gonna make it! I do not have problem with price, I have a serious problem with time. Ok, set it it hard to grind or expensive to buy. I do not believe in socialism so not everything is for everyone. But FFS let the people chance to pay off the rest of the points by doubloons if they are close to the finish!

 

Imagine someone is short of money - surprise! it's a Xmas time!!! - and free-grinding like a hell all time long. And hours before the event end he find out he's not gonna make it by 5%. Remember that you can easily, in such a case, rise up a suicide level over the world!
