[PSA] An apology for poor event presentation and a bit of spreadsheet

How can you both be sorry that you got caught but also unrepentant at the same time? Even if it was clear that PR required a super grind, it's literally impossible to earn for free for not even 99% of players. More like 99.9999999% I'd be surprised if more than 10 people per server earned this 100% for free.

Well this entire holiday event was disappointment Wargaming, not only Puerto Rico and Directives are disappointing , Snowflakes are too, this year they are not rewarding, like i got 8 santa box from 8 T10 but i only got few camo and some useless flag ,maybe some doubloon too and this year unlike last year premium ships does not gives 200 steel, rather all T8 and T9s gives 75 steel huge, its huge change and kinda frustrating. like if i had all premiums last year my gaining was gonna be 6k steel but this year its maximum 2k steel its joke and i don't know why it changed.

Anyways This years Holiday event was huge disappointment and Apology only for PR will not change this feeling.

did anyone also notice that snowflakes last year also applied to all premiums right down to t2 and cuts at t5 this year.. a drop in the ocean maybe but still another cut

I really liked the whole idea of PR the way it was advertised and presented by CCs, the port thing showing the construction was also something I was really looking forward to but this grind is way out of hand unless you fork out money and that's beyond the free ship that was initially presented to us.

I also don't understand why WG wants to exploit people in this way, I mean if the whole thing had been properly presented in the first hand I wouldn't mind throwing some money to get her in the long run but not like this, now it's just a money grab and it's usually people with poor playing skills that throw away huge amounts of money to get ships thinking they'd win them matches and this in my opinion is deceptive not to mention the fact that such a practice causes frustration both to the player that has spent a ludicrous amount of money to get the "OP" ship but also to his fellow teammates that end up having a high tier liability on their team.

anyway, wishing german trading standards best of the luck with any case they file.. wg have asked for it and truly deserve it

but a big thanks has to be given to wg for confirming beyond any doubt whatsoever that Christmas is solely about corporate greed

The only explanation that makes sense is that the actual numbers for the mission requirements are "somehow" multiplied by 10!

Even getting Gorizia is like grinding 2-3 lines from T8 to T9! And all that in such a short timeframe! Not to mention that the task rewards have a value more suitable for tasks with requirements that are 10% of those we have. I mean only if you devide every number in the requirements by 10 this event makes sense!

What I can't understand though is the reason why the stopped using campaigns for Christmas events, I mean the Hunt for Graf Spee and the Battle of the North Cape were actually good. Even the Mighty Prinz was good enough, although harder for most players.

If the dockyard was a permanent thing and the directives were a permanent campaign directly related to the dockyard, it would have been a realy nice feature, something like an ingame long term project.

Personaly, I am only willing to spend camos and flags in order to get the Gorizia, and I will not hurry, I have more important things to do. As for the PR and the rest of the directives: They do not exist for me! I am just happy with whatever small reward I get from the dockyard! The only really good part of this event are the snowflakes. The  santa crates are as bad as last year, so I don't care at all, just the free ones are enough. The collection is another story, it is quite big and the containers are in short supply.... Maybe I complete it next year when the containers are going to be available in the armory...

I only hope lessons are learned  this year...

Not to sound like a total [edited]about it friend but somehow i doubt those collection containers will even make it to the armory over the course of the next year..

After I 've plaied for two days well the first 100 battles was in co-op for the containers and the steel. the counter stood still in the directive but with random and some nice signals it's no problem to solve it. it's done but to finnish it is difficult. I meen how smart is it to do tasks with setting on fire along with a ship that can't set on fire and that together with other mission along with the directive that demands fire. How did you think there. As I know how WG is thinking about earning money I don't bother the PR thing bay some booster and it's in reach.

I must say that I'am impressed; I bought 2x 20 mega container and got 6 ships: Musashi, Missouri, Kronstadt, Belfast and Kutusov and finaly G Cesare. Was that a jackpot for a small amount . Thank you WG

Unfortunately, that's possible...

I really don't know what to expect after all those things...

It could Have been a awesome thing to build  PR with removing the Timer and ramp up the needed Tasks per Directive so it would take unexperienced players way longer than the Pros, giving the opportunity to by boosters is okay but not if they are’nt less than an option as more as requirement. I wouldnt care if it take me 6 month or a year to build it but man i would have the biggest smile on my face after i got it in the harbor. Instead of makeing a awesome thing for everybody and get the players happy (wich would have lead to way more ppl buying stuff) you decided to completely bitchslapping every player into the face with this Direktive including the Timeframe.

Well said bro, I totaly agree! PR should be a permanent long term project.

PS: still no word about any compensation for the Thursday server issues!

You know what would have been even better (if the Dockyard was a long term project)? If every player could have choosen what ship to build (like Tirpitz or Kidd or something else) and the construction time would have depended on the tier and class off the ship (i.e. a destroyer would take less time then a Battleship or a Carrier)

I think the comunity in general has a lot of awesome ideas on making the game better!

The comunity deserves more attention!

Who on earth came up with the idea of a grind this bad over Christmas?

I don't have more time to play over the holidays, I have less time because holiday plans and family and that probably goes for the majority of players. Even as someone who completed some of the most notorious marathons so far (Indianapolis, PEF and Benham) there is no chance of me being able to complete these directives over Christmas.

If the challenge was reasonable I'd be tempted to try which would mean playing a lot more games and probably putting in some money to finish, but knowing up front how bad the grind is I'm not even going to try, which means playing far less and not spending money.

Also by all accounts the Xmas boxes have been nerfed this year so just on general principle I'm not going to buy them, last year I spent about £100, the year before I spent at least that on WoT, this year I've spent exactly £22 and have no plans to buy any more boxes so that's more money lost for WG.

Xmas boxes are definitly nerfed. Interestingly, they are not only nerfed in terms of ships, but even on premium time. For example, in 35 boxes combined, i got 0 prem time. From month to month, wg is nerfing everything.

I have a very simple idea for WG how to end this pathetic show with one very simple move ....
It is enough to make this event indefinite. When you finish your PR you will get it, some even around Easter.
But one small hotfix would close the case, and shitstorm would shut down rather quickly.

But, in that case, wg would stay without money. Long term, that move would bring them much more money then they could get now, but it seems nobody there thinks in long term.

Man, this has nothing to do with previous Xmas campaigns, were fun and attainable, and everybody happy. The dockyard and shipuilding looks and feels awesome, yet somehow once i look the directives - massive clusterf*ck.

Guess this to be the 1st campaign (and xmas) that i dont get to the finish line. Fumbled up, bigtime.

C'mon Santa, time to pay that long overdue family visit...   :)

Are you seriously justifying paying 80 euros for a ship and then doing a grind as well?

Hello samphilconlor,

As I said if a player unlock the "gold booster" he needs to grind only the first 2 directives to complete the ship before the end of the event.

I can tell you I have played as usual and I have already unlocked the first free booster.

Now of course it depends on how much time you can spend regularly on the game and I will say also on your motivation.

Regarding the price, please consider the following:

- a tier IX cost 63 Euro. So if a tier X cost 80 euro it seems to me in line with the company pricing. Of course this doen't mean it's cheap.

- if you finish the grind you receive several rewards including a few days of premium account and some Xmas Boxes of different size. All this could be evaluated around 20 Euro.

A final consideration: everyone is free to spend his own money. Some people spend hundreds of Euro in Xmas boxes, some other in converting free XP. I am rather sure that among all OHIO I have encountered in ranked at least 90 % of them have converted a million of free XP. It's their money. It's their choice, but apparently this is not a scandal.

Wish you good Holidays

:Smile_honoring:

So no PR for me I can't even log in at this point as the game keeps crashing since the last update , I have only managed to try and start two games and earned 10 pink games for "unsporting behavior" as it crashes again...
