Well after listening to IChase analyzing the directives...it won't happen. I'll accept a hard grind or paying a fair price in real cash for a ship. For 195 euros I'll go buy some 10 other games on steam.

Like he says, the previous events seemed generous. This one doesn't seem "generous" whatsoever. But I guess they have to pay for the CV rework! :cap_money:

This tier of ship could have been made a reward ship aka like the mission reward tanks in WOT. The main difference being that the eight campaigns in WOT that can gift a reward tank are not time limited. They are probably player skill limited and some of the missions cause the player base to play in a way that is detrimental to their team (ram a tank, seven times over any number of battles etc), but importantly they are not time limited. If you just play the game, not hardcore it, an average player can probably pick up some of the tanks over a year or two of casual playing. Granted, the tier 9 reward tank is pretty difficult for an average player to get. BUT THE MISSIONS ARE NOT TIME LIMITED AND MAY ATTRACT THE PLAYER BASE TO PLAY THE GAME FOR AN EXTENDED TIME (LIKE 3-6 MONTHS).

The Dockyard will be available until mid March (Expected drop date 0.9.1) - following from https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/general-news/new-year-2020-event/

Quote

The building process will continue automatically only until January 13, but the Dockyard will remain in your Ports until the end of Update 0.9.0. This means that you’ll still be able to complete the cruiser by using doubloons or Shipbuilding Points, the latter of which are granted immediately after activating boosters.

So we have a bit of time on the spending the Shipbuilding tokens, but I haven't seen anything that says how long the directives will be available.

All I have found is this :-

Quote

In total, you can earn as many as 2,665 Shipbuilding Tokens throughout Update 0.8.11

Which suggests that they will only be earnable in 0.8.11, ie until Mid January...

We can rant and rage all we want. I just played a ranked game against Puerto Rico. He died first and blamed his whole team.

Whales are NOT  endangered species as it seems... 59K doubloons..... :fish_nerv:

You have to justify losing in a ship for which you have just forked out 59K.

Well. Ultimately its just an very Obvious Salesman Trick.

They made the Puerto Rico something that you cannot Achieve unless your a Hardcore Shutin without Money or Life anyways. And they dont care if these People get it for Free cause they would never Buy it anyways.

Meanwhile those with a Job and Family and other such Irrelevant Real Life things. Have little to no Chance of actually getting it. BUT here Nice Wargaming comes Along. Stopping the Production but Giving you a bit of Time to "Think".

You Poured so much Effort into this.

You Spend soooo much Time trying to get it.

And you could actually get it by Spending some Doubloons to just Finish Construction couldnt you.

Come on. You wanted it so badly you Played for Hours each Day to get it. Some Doubloons now arent such a Big Deal arent they ??

"Sinister little Voice Crackling in the Background"

Its a Basic Psychology Trick used by the less Reputable Businesses for Decades. Well. Mostly Casinos and Gambling Houses....

I did not Expect this kind of Bullcrab from Wargaming.

And I am Honestly Dissappointed by this.

Actually, WG has fallen into their own trap. They spent so much time and money to create the shipbuilding event, that they were desperate to cash in, and they pretty much overdid it.

Holy shitstorm Batman.

This is called how to shoot yourself in the foot. What did WG actually expect would happen?? When you put up an admittedly nice reward as the PR is, but then make the grind so utterly hard that only the top 1% of players will get it, or spend nearly €200 is utterly insane, there's no other word for it.

And SO's responses are so unprofessional that I have no words for it. One thing is defending your product, but belitteling the player base is a big no no.

And one quick question at the end, as I'm a tad confused on this. If I were to buy the gold boosters now, would it continue to tick in the background, or will it only start on December 16?

I find this apparent lack of understanding of a western European market breath-taking; in future, WG should just not allow the chap on any English-speaking platform - get someone who speaks 'customer' to do it instead (in general, the people who usually appear on here from WG are excellent, for example).

By messing up the advance marketing of the Xmas event (too much emphasis - visually, especially - on the port/PR, not enough emphasis on the other rewards and how hard PR would be to get i.e. not managing expectations effectively), and with SO's appalling interventions, WG now have a spectacular PR mess to sort out, when they should have the highlight of the year...

In any other branch, people who cause that kind of PR-damage to the company (or amplify the damage that already has been caused) are "quietly let go", if you understand the euphemism.

All that this PR grind achieved was that I won't be bothered to log on to WoWS this december. There will be lots of bots and bad people grinding for PR, and I will get nothing anyway.

If there was some middle tier fun ship for a tolerable grind, sure, but not the PR or that Italian cruisers seems worth the effort.

I don't mind people that have tons of free time and willingness get a PR, I'm just saying that a goal that is not achievable for 99.9% of the playerbase will have a negative effect on activity. Why should that 99.9% actually bother to play the game?

You would get the immediate boost now, but the per min boost would start ticking on December 16.

I see where you are coming from, but I also think you should be a little careful what you wish for.

If you want us to communicate only in watered-down PR-speak we can of course do that, but I find that whenever that happens the quality of information and communication goes rapidly down the drain.

I also don't subscribe to the belief that just because we work for a company we have to respond to every message in that kind of manner. Having a go at Crysantos in such a way is just stupid in my opinion, as any of you that know Crysantos will surely agree with. That S_O gets annoyed, passionate and even angry in response is quite natural.

I always felt that you (forumites and redditors) appreciated the fact that we do communicate a bit differently from some other companies.

So whether you guys agree with our mission design or think it is the worst thing ever, can we not agree to all not insult each other? :cap_like:

This will be funny how WG will react today on there Livestream. I hope it will not be a to big of a shitstorm and i hope the will do something about the directive.

I don't know yet either, come and find out :)

For my part I want to see if I can manage to get Gorizia by just playing this update, I'm not that interested in PR and also definitely do not have enough time to complete the building process.

@MrConway

I feel sorry for you community managers because the marketing department strapped you lot to a landmine by going full blown retard.

I have seen some wargaming marketing stupidity but this is beyond anything i could ever expect even the CC's are calling WG out on this.

Were my replies that aggravating and insulting (because that seemed to be the post that started it all, triggering the reply from Crys that got all the flak)? I just voiced my opinion and perceptions on several parts of a post he made.

To silence the criticism, what WG should do is have a few of their staff-members play and grind out the Puerto Rico, while using as little (preferably none at all) doubloons possible. That would be both a huge signal that the playerbase is wrong, and would silence all criticism... Will probably not happen, but one can dream, right?
