Is the Gorizia tightly time gated? Or can you still give it a shot? Also, aside from the fact that for some reason the tier X ships no longer award with steal for the snowflake, the rest of the event doesn't look that bad to me.

Looking at numbers in the first three directives like 85k base XP, 105k base XP, 320k XP, 36 mill potential damage and so on...

Most of the time it's a huge effort for me to do 5k base XP a day. (I am a CO-OP main. Yes, that's a thing. Randoms are too toxic for me. Lately, CO-OP is getting pretty toxic too, sadly.) I get bored quickly or frustrated with RNG or players.
So yeah, maybe, if I really wanted to, I could do the Gorizia. But... It would be still a huge amount of grind. And by huge, I mean HUGE...

So instead of playing WoWs in the holidays, I will probably play something else. Like Witcher 3. I played through the whole thing 4-5 times already, and I'd rather play it a 6th time, than doing this grindfest for a poopy T7 cruiser. W3 doesn't have unfair RNG, toxic players, huge amount of grindfests, and it doesn't feel a burden and like a job to play it.

So I'm already feeling anxiety trying to figure this all out. I was close to buying a booster day one but the panic to play after commiting cash would feel even worse. So yeah. Thanks but no thanks. Just reading about this event has made me feel less positive about the game. I didn't think you could make me feel worse about a game without me playing it but here we are.

Given that it is prolly best you take that route, because the missions related to this event are bound to ruin game play for everyone whether they will be trying to complete them in time or not. That will get toxic for sure.

Still.. I have to disagree with you about the general toxicity of randoms or coop here in WoWS. Maybe I've grown a thick skin coming here from WoT, but it is only very isolated incidents of toxicity that I've encountered. Those can be real nasty, but just give them the mental finger and stop letting them ruin the game for you. :Smile_honoring:

Remember when WG once told us they didn't want to give us the Graf Spee missions because they want us to spend time with our families on Christmas?

Yeah... Maybe we shouldn't have whined that hard back then. :Smile_hiding: :Smile_trollface:

Mate, forget about Puerto Rico. It's not even that good of a T10 ship (Smolensk or even Thunderer are better for Tier 10 based on all the previous CC testing, let alone Steel ships like Stalingrad, Bourgogne or Somers).

Not even unicums grinding daily can reasonaly hope to achieve her for "free" (yu know, if they also like other occupations like say sleeping, eating, or god forbid have a job).

If you have a chance to play daily for some amount, think about getting Gorizia. But again, that ship is nowhere near great going by all tests. So do not stress over the event, just get at least some coal and steel for Snowflakes (still less than last year because reasons :Smile_trollface: ), get some of those various boxes for individual missions you'll eventually get just by playing and enjoy Christmas with family.

[SNIP... loads and loads of numbers]

Looking at the requirements of the missions, ie ~800.000 base XP, 1.400.000 free XP I'd guesstimate that with an average of 2.000 base XP per battle and 20.000 free XP, this already means you'll have to play 470 games. Add in additional games for some ribbons you need to finish, extra credits you need to earn or inviting the enemy team to shoot you some more, I'd put that number at 600 games at a bare minimum. 95756547_PRMarathon.thumb.png.c76b6ebc329a17e33549e8322c794826.png

You've got 28 days for PR, 33 for all directives, which means you'll be playing 21,5 games per day. At 15 minutes per game that's about 5 hrs and ~20 minutes playing WoWs per day, every day.

If you don't score an average of 2k base XP, it'll take longer:

(compared to 2k base)
1900 average base XP: 421 battles

1800 average base XP: 444 battles

1700 average base XP: 470 battles

1600 average base XP: 500 battles

1500 average base XP: 533 battles

And that's just the base XP grind, if you usually score less, the Free XP grind at stage 7 will also take longer and we're closer to the realm of 700-800 or more games. At 800 games in 28 days, you're looking forward to about 7 hrs and 10 minutes of straight up warships.

However, if you generally avoid playing random battles and confine yourself to coop, well... I'd argue that it's flat out impossible for any single human being to grind this in Coop only.

Thanks for laying bare all this utter absurdity.

I hope you won't mind me directing people to those posts of yours in the future. You know, those people naive enough to think WG isn't death itself after our souls. :Smile_trollface:

Well Wargaming, you screwed it up for me. I was willing to grind and support the grind with some money spent. You just completely  discouraged me from doing that. I will spend my money on other games. I dont have time to grind this hard during the holiday. I actually have to work and see my family as well. I dont have more then two or three hours a day to play and not even every day.

I feel that most players will look at this and go "This is undoable." and they won't even try or spend any money on it. I've done every directive that has come out up untill now but when I see this all I feel is "I can't do this."

For the average player, this is just one big middlefinger and might as well never happened. No point in even trying.

I really wanted to try to get Puerto Rico. For this I planned to

- buy Gorizia to get a headstart with the first three directives (and Gold compensation later)

- buy a month of premium to achieve the directives easier

- buy a Gold Booster (before 24k, also approx 12-16k in total, I would have maybe bought two)

- of course I would have played a lot in this month.

Now, as Hanse Elaborate it "I can't do this".

So, no need to acquire a Gold Booster. Therefore no incentive to buy Gorizia. As I will not play more as usual due to the unattractive directives (and also because I am really pissed), there is also no need for Premium time.

MW5, here I come.

That was my plan too. I had €100 set aside for this Xmas but that just means those stay in my wallet. :-)

@Hanse77SWE @I_Wildcat_I

My plan was to at least try to get Gorizia (not really the ship I was looking for) since it was said, back in the day that those who wouldn't have had time for Puerto Rico or other problems, would have still been able to get Gorizia as a let's say consolation reward (or at least the thought was this one), which i was totally fine with since i actually was able to get Luigi Sansonetti completely for free and i was going to use Gorizia to train him (after i would have got Zara)(other ships would be better, but...).

For Puerto Rico, i would have done some maths and see if it was possible for me to get it or not.

But seeing how the thing are right now, I can't even complete the First directive; the first !!!!!

My only hope is that Santa (RG-Jesus) would be kind enough to let me a couple of premuim ships from the free containers (highly unlikely, but still the highest hope I have) just as last year (I got Dunkerque and Anshan).

In the meantine, i'm consoling myself by re-watching for the nth-time the movie: "The Sound of Music". One of the best movies ever made IMO, worth to check out if you haven't seen it yet.

Took a look at her.

Just a worse Zara. Better speed (1 kts.) but worse reload, worse range and no torps. Abruzzi has half the reload (152 mm), HE, torps, better speed AND a heal.
