Whats the problem. you spend the time you have and play as usual. I was doing a little math. I will have 1 mega, 3 big gift, 35 santa and 8 in the shipbuilding, 41 shipbuilding containers. 10550 steel 171280 coal, 2550 token plus 14 premiumdays and 15000 free xp. I didn't bother to what comes in the containers. I just hope all those containers will give me a ship that I cant get in another way I am talking about those tier IX  ships Musashi, Missouri,  Kronstadt and that little tier 7 crusier Belfast. I am sure it will be possible to buy you free from the time spent at the keybord and pay her with doubluns as you have to do with every other premium ship. This is better then the reserchbury that is gready.

I'm also surprised that [edited] and [edited] aren't [edited] vehementely posting that we are all wrong... Maybe this "event" is even too ridiculous for them as well.

That's not a constructive post at all. In fact I see it as an insulting one.

At least the former has already declared that the event is "to much" and that he will not attempt it.

After having read this answers I’m under the impression that WG is trying to sh*t on his community then trying to convince them they’re eating chocolate, is this some sort of psychological experiment? :cap_haloween:

If it is, we can heartily applaud their efforts.

Just directive number 2 requires 85k base XP. (For PR, you need that done within one day, btw. :Smile_trollface: ) Isn't that more than all base XP you are required in two consecutive updates with directives, usually? And that's one mission, one of a number you need to complete just for that one directive.

And for Gorizia you also need the third directive as well. This is beyond insane.

85k base XP that's 1k a battle with average to good results depending on Victory or defeat.

That's 85 battles a day times ~20 minutes...yeah, challenging. Sure. :Smile_sceptic:

Remind me, how many hours has a day in parts of the world that aren't Russia?

I was so excited for all these goodies announced. Was looking forward to Gorizia (even if it is kinda ehh) and hoped there will be chance to get Puerto Rico even if it will be kinda challenging. Yeah right.

Now I just feel utterly disgusted. Like seriously I don't understand why is it good for you to do the exactly opposite of FUN. Amazing really.

I saved some money - I was willing to pay 50 bucks and grind my [edited]off.

Now - as it stands I could pay 50 bucks (one booster and the PEF of cruisers), grind my [edited]off and don't get PR.

All this is so shady and intransparent.

Yeah, we are talking at the scale of a hundred battles (and Random/Ranked at that, not Coop) for individual missions in the directives. Granted, at earlier directives, missions will overlap - BUT in later directives, the requirements are separate. As in, get X millions of Y in French BBs (high tier ones), then another X millions of Y in Soviet DDs etc.

And all that in three directives for Gorizia, which I'll remind everyone is not the next Belfast (not that I want it to be). The best compliment I've seen a CC give that ship is "average", "meh" or "Ok".

And all of that nonsense in 7 directives, dailies etc. for Puerto Rico, which is also nowhere near the strenght of a number of previous Steel ships (Stalingrad, Bourgogne), potentially even a couple Coal and FreeXP ones (relative to their lower tier at T9, obviously).

Seriously, people, before you commit even just for Gorizia, make sure you can spare the time during the Holidays for hundreds of battles to ultimately only get a so-so ship. I don't even want to think how many battles in total one would need for Puerto Rico. Gotta be thousands...

Speaking as a guy who doesn’t have a lot of ships (specially the high tier ones), this Christmas event gives me basically nothing. Gone blow of 2k coal and 150 steal. Get two Santa’s containers from which I will probably will get eight signals. Looking at the missions I won’t be able to grind Gorizia. Two premium days, and 100 doubloons. Am I missing something???

Preferred the filth event in which I could grind a perma camo for tierX.

The Xmas event seems cool for older players who will get from blowing the snowflakes a significant amount of coal and steel, and just by playing will manage to complete few of the missions.

For a smaller player like me this Xmas event basically gives me nothing. 2k coal = one day less grinding for a coal ship. 8 signals basically useless.  100 doubloons + 2 premium days(what is it worth like 1-2euroes).

Well I guess thank you for your generosity WG and marry Xmas.

I agree, the instransparcy is a huge problem. And its by design...

On top of that: can you guys picture what levels of gameplay we gonna see in randoms? First, we have holidays anyway. Second, the hords of ppl that will only focus on somehow getting the directives done, in full panic mode. Oh boy. Maybe best to stay away from randoms completly. Merry Xmas everyone. :cap_happy:

That's what i'm thinking.

Thta's also the reason for me to focus on coop and ranked.

I don't care about the former and i achieved my goal of rank 10, so i have no issues whatsoever yolo-ing or Focusing on directive play, even if it means playing toxic. If WG doesn't care, why should i?

Even if you would have half a year to do these missions, it would be quite a task. This is just madness and :insert Tywin Lannister dialogue: How could this been even approved?

@Crysantos So, is it right that your boosters for the Puerto Rico grind effectively net less progress over time cause they run over a shorter period? So if you wait too long you'll end up having to buy more? Sounds fishy. But may just be me. ANd it's triggering me HARD.

@Crysantos

I can understand that Wargaming demands more effort for a ship like Puerto Rico.

But there are two kinds of efforts: total effort and effort per time period.

Increasing the total effort is straightforward and most players will understand that. Effort per time period is trickier. The more you increase it, the more players will be completely left out. Time is limited. You will also quickly cross the threshold were the time demand becomes unhealthy for some players and the game overall. For months we heard the complaints from players that the event density became too much. This is a sign your events broke these thresholds with more and more players. It is only a matter of time before someone suffers from health problems and that is not something you want to be associated with WoWs.

How can you combine the interests of Wargaming and the playerbase?

  • Chose rewards that can be obtained in a manageable time frame.
  • If you want to give bigger rewards, increase the total effort and the time frame for the event, not the effort per time period

o   The Christmas patch can go easily to the end of January (nice side effect: WG employees have more time for the next patch cycle and can enjoy the holidays more)

o   Let events run multiple patches

o   Let events be open ended (like Campaigns), in case of the dockyard, it would have to work differently (no construction per minute)

  • Consider adding boosters for Free XP or Coal to the dockyard, they are basically representing past effort
  • Events like ship construction could be clan centered, where the whole clan cooperates to unlock a ship, the ship could then be distributed to each clan member for free or 1 Silver, 1000 Dubloons, Free XP, Coal, etc…

One thing you should consider for ship construction events: Boosters for Dubloons, Free XP or Coal should only consist of a fixed component. It is not good game design if the value of the booster depends on when you activate it. They become unattractive for players who start the event later, resulting in lower usage by players. This was also given as feedback when Wargaming featured the event in the Dev Blog.
