I was so excited for all these goodies announced. Was looking forward to Gorizia (even if it is kinda ehh) and hoped there will be chance to get Puerto Rico even if it will be kinda challenging. Yeah right.

Now I just feel utterly disgusted. Like seriously I don't understand why is it good for you to do the exactly opposite of FUN. Amazing really.

It's because they have just one thing one their mind...money and only money, they don't care about players satisfaction or other thing like this.

Took a look at her.

Just a worse Zara. Better speed (1 kts.) but worse reload, worse range and no torps. Abruzzi has half the reload (152 mm), HE, torps, better speed AND a heal.

Indeed, even going through the grind for Gorizia is questionable.

It's absurd to the point that even if they were to start erasing zeros on the requirements, it'd still be quite a grind for Christmas. It's THAT crazy.

As a free to play completionist, one that got Benham, PEF, Duke of York, Indianapolis and plenty others for "free", I'm starting to accept that I may not even be able to get Gorizia if work pans out to be what it currently appears during the Holidays.

Based on the couple odd Word of Tanks videos I get to see on Youtube here and there, this Christmas grind appears to be even crazier than the already insane grinds they usually get.

Dear Wargaming!

At this point in the thread you probably see the storm which is brewing: to sum it up, you betrayed us. You want to steal our chirstmas, like the grinch, and with false hope! I understand that it is not in your intrest to give us a tier 10 ship for free. However, stealing our hollidays, only for the "hope" that we can get it, is a crime by itself. The missions are insane, and the price is too high.

I almost never write on the forum.. I belive that 90% of people comment here when they are mad, and only 10% when they are happy, so why bother to read or write here? I could have complained about bugs that havent been fixed, about having a ranked immediately or while having clan battles, the lack of dd limit in competitive, ect... And i'm only writing now, because this is when I feel I wont take more.

And I wont grind for the puerto rico. For this much, I could grind out a colbert from scratch sooner, than this insanity. Hell, I wont even paly this game, and spend quality time with my relaitves. AND I WONT MISS ANY OF THIS AT ALL!

To all players out there: DONT play at all, and you will spend you holliday the way its meant to be spent. Happy hollidays everyone!

And to Wargaming: it is not too late to change this... My two propositions: remove a '0' from the mission requirements, or have the puerto rico continue building after the event. I dont care if I have to wait half or a whole year for it to finish, but grinding, wasting my free time and even then, maybe not getting it is a giant (insert sexual object here) in our faces, and you are trying to validate this...

It's the fact Goriza was being advertised as reasonable....

It is worse than the PEF grind, which was advertised as being hard.

I agree with Crysantos when he says the game gives away a LOT of free stuff, but if the Goriza had been honestly marketed, you would have avoided people getting their hopes up unnecessarily   and causing this storm of anger.

side note: WG give away far more stuff in terms of coal, flags etc than we give them credit for. but event thinking that, I still felt my heart sink when I saw what the 'reasonable grind' required.

May I interrupt this interesting discussion and do some advertising for WG? :Smile_popcorn:

"Tune in on Thursday evenings to catch our staff in a regular stream - get ready for questions, answers, gameplay, new ships and more!

When? Every Thursday at 18:00, Where? Twitch and Facebook! https://www.twitch.tv/worldofwarships https://www.facebook.com/WorldofWarships/"

Good luck to all for this stream  - unfortunately I will have to watch this on VOD as I will attend the outside world and visit a German Weihnachtsmarkt
I will make a toast with my mulled wine to WG and their staff for their neverending ideas of how to upset their customers

PS: I just used google to translate a quote from the RUS-WG-Staff Mebius_lW on their forum - unreal!

Если я приду в автосалон и скажу, что они мне должны дать новый Бентли, просто так и потому что я так хочу. Какая интересно реакция у персонала и посетителей будет?

All you have to do is work the next 4-5 weeks for us, 16hours a day, everyday.

You get a few trinkets from us for your hard work!

Also, we want a g@ngb@ng with your wife, everyday of course, you won't have time for that anyway the next few weeks.

Also, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to get the Bentley, but if you PAY us the actual VALUE of the Bentley, your CHANCES of getting it for FREE increases!

Aren't we awesome?"

Nah, they just laugh at us. While they can be with their families over the holidays, they wanna force the players to play their game.

This event is just nuts. I knew that the grind would be heavy, but this takes the cake.

I can live without the steel ships, so I certainly can live without this pathetic eventship.

Congratz, you'll earn 0 from me for this event.

We have a lot of respect for you and I think that if you take a look at all the free content we provide, that it's correct.

@Crysantos @Crysantos

Bullsh*t. WG doesn't respect the players as anything other than wallets that they believe they deserve access to. You (WG) had the sheer balls to make a thread (IIRC it was a stickied thread) about how you had to remove Belfast, Missouri, Fujin, Kamikaze, GC, and Kutuzov from the game because they were overpowered, and remove any ability to buy them directly from the store, and then had the audacity to release them in these stupid Satan crates after padding the drop list with 21 tier 5 and 6 premiums, not to mention that they only drop *after* you've already gotten every single other ship on the list. You also refuse to disclose drop rates or drop mechanics (we had to figure out the ship drop tier thing ourselves), you reduced steel on the snowflake ships (and premiums) and added the stupid container for TierX, you combined clan battles with ranked, you made the PR grind somehow worse than the grind for the Benham after being told how cancerous it was, you still refuse to do anything about Russian BBs, the German commander is dogshit compared to the Russian one, scenarios still aren't back, you still haven't done a proper summer sale for non-Steam players, the Black Friday sale was as scummy as ever, and Smolensk is still cancer.

I don't mind you not having respect; that's expected from a business. But I mind when you lie so hard that the CCP Propaganda Wing wants to offer you a job.

Edit: Oh yeah, you also changed the rewards for ship dupes in containers so it's worse.

I downloaded an entire new client for this.

If you don't score an average of 2k base XP, it'll take longer:

(compared to 2k base)
1900 average base XP: 421 battles

1800 average base XP: 444 battles

1700 average base XP: 470 battles

1600 average base XP: 500 battles

1500 average base XP: 533 battles

Just to catch up here -> I made a short calculation for myself and this may show you how insane this grind really is:

As mentioned we are talking about base XP, so the stuff you see in the scoreboard at the end of your match. I took my last week as an example. Since your premium account is included in the average XP value you'll have to divide it by 1,65 (warships premium account or 1,5 i think if you are using the overall prem time)  No flexing intended, just some math :Smile_honoring:

11-12-_2019_19-51-01.png

This will end up as 1660 Base XP per Match. The thing is that i already consider this as a very high value most ppl wont even get close to. You will also have to consider that you will get forced onto ships you might be uncomfortable to play with or haven't touched into a long time, due to how those directives are constructed.  And OFC; like Takru already mentioned, there's more then just those base XP missions.

Even if i somehow manage to keep up that pace over the next weeks which i highly doubt ( bad games, the ship issue i mentioned above or ofc holiday players / bad matches in general) it would take me 482 Games for those base xp missions only. And this doesn't implement the other stuff like captain / free xp , killing a certain amount of ships or getting up to 7200 secondary hits.

So yeah, i consider this crazy. I played ~200 matches over the last 3 weeks, including 68 from a ita cruiser grind where i had vacation. So i basically don't even have the time for it ^^ This is getting out of hand...

And speaking of getting out of Hand: After you buy all 3 Premium boosters you will get an Option to buy her for an additional 35k dubloons, or ~194 Euros in total. I wonder what Marx would say about it :Smile_trollface:

I also posted in the other topic my opinion, I'll just summarize it here.

The idea of the Dockyard is AMAZING!!!! Let everyone enjoy it with a smaller tier ship...as I accept the idea that you cannot just give away a T10 ship to everyone. But give the Dockyward.

And I hope that I'm not mistaken and WOWS staff is not WOT staff and they will find a way to fix it.

Take away the timer and let people build the ship at their own pace.

Apart from that everything else is made of gifts which are proportional with the time you want to play. This is fair. BUT please fix Puerto Rico.

Merry Christmas

Just joining the pot here to say I'm out, not even going to attempt this one properly. I was thinking of treating myself and buying another ship over christmas but that's out too now.

Not enough to make me quit the game but enough that I'd rather spend the same money on a whole other game or two from developers that care a bit more about my time. Yes it's a T10 but its not "Free" and the value is not worth what you are asking WG, it's not even in the ballpark or even playing the same sport!

Roll on the steam sales and I'll see you in the new year after I've seen the family and enjoyed my holiday..

Hold on.. where are the players that are happy with this event?

Where are those Wargaming cares about and tries to make the best possible experience for?

All I see is a lot of disappointed players Wargaming doesn't give a $hit about.

I do have a lot of free time on my hands. I can deal with a Warships grind that requires a lot of activity. See the Benham in my port. I can deal with a hard grind dropping a piece of garbage. See the PEF in my port.

This PR grind is a right punch in the kisser. Not only is it "Must Play Every Day!" to get the tokens to speed up building, if you for an unfathomable reason, like I don't know, a yearly visit to the family, can't play for a few days you are basically forced to buy doubloon booster packs.

No one can tell me that this was not deliberate.

It's basically misleading people, it's the attempt to see how far they can go with "It's free*!" Because as it stands, I don't see anyone but those people buried under Dragon flags and the three god tier XP camos get all those missions done. And even these people will struggle.

*Free if you forego doing anything other than playing WoWS for 10+ hours each day the event is on. Grind more, durak!

There would be choices to make the grind and anything involved more reasonable. The requirements for the missions are flat-out bonkers and designed to enforce spending on premium account time, expensive camo (Type 59 at least) and loads and loads of dragon flags.

Quite bluntly, I don't think I would be able to complete this grind fest, even if I were to tell my mother and grandparents "Sorry, can't come and visit you, have to spend all my time grinding to maybe get a free ship."

I mean, 85k base XP. Seriously? I've had wins where the best on the winning team barely cracked 1500 BaseXP in a T8 game. T10 games where the 1800 base XP meant top of the team.

Yeah, even without any work or any usual Christmas shenanigans involving close ones and family, I couldn't possibly complete this PR grind. It's patently impossible for a free to play normal human being whose body has some needs.

And even for the select few that literally have nothing else to do for this whole upcoming month (I don't doubt some exist), they have to complete a number (if not all) of the directives within a day of availability just to get the booster for PR in time.

5 minutes ago, Palubarac said:

As one of the 100+ missions to be completed.

Let that sink in.

Yeah, and that is in the Second directive. You know, the supposedly second easiest to achieve.

Good luck grinding 150k base XP in a day as one of many missions you have to get for the 5th and 6th directives.

Instead of paying WG, I would pay for a camera on a guy that will grind all those missions. And a chance to interview him afterwards.

The way I see it if it comes to New Years events there are several things to it:

  • Snowflakes - they are nice, we all like them, they are cool. If we have time, we take a tour playing through all our ships, if not, we get some free stuff while casually playing our favourite ships. Only winners here.
  • Daily Drops - they are nice, incentify daily logins perhaps bringing some people to the game that would otherwise not play (on the basis of "since I logged in I might as well play some battles"). Only winners here.
  • Building a ship - very cool idea, giving players a fulfilling goal to complete! Also exciting to see the ship come together.
  • Directives and other methods of acquiring shipbuilding tokens - absolute crap, evident money grab and a filthy lie (suggestion that it is doable for average player to complete the Puerto Rico without paying). Average players have around 1 destroyed ship per game, even the first directive asks for 65 destroyed ships. That is 16 battles per day to complete this mission in order to unlock the next directive, considering average battle time of 12 minutes and loading times this equals to 3,5 hours of grind per day assuming you get your 1 ship per battle. Second Directive bumps it up to 90 kills, which equals almost 5 hours of playing per day for average player. Seriously, WG, what the [edited]is  wrong with you?

I get that you need people to pay to keep your lights up, but in that case just make an honest statement: to get Puerto Rico you will have to pay some money or spend some in-game resources. Make decent directives that all people enjoy and slap a dubloon cost (actually, the cost that has been announced is ridiculous too considering you pay almost 30k dubloons and must still invest loads of time) on Puerto Rico, so that everyone knows that you are not getting it for free. Then people will not be able to complain: they get a lot of free stuff, they can participate in building the ship, but to launch it they need to pay some money (or dubloons there otherwise acquired). Noone would be mad about that, as there would be clear distinction between free, festive stuff for everyone and a ship that comes at a discount due to Christmas for those who want it. Pretending you can get it for free and then hiding it behind directives requiring you to play for 5 hours a day or more is just outrageous

Also I can't believe an employee of a normal company respecting their customers would express himself in such a condescending and disrespective manner. But seeing the New Year directives one day after they have claimed it is completely doable and viable to complete Puerto Rico without paying any money I am not that surprised anymore...

I am so disappointed . just logged in to my NA Account with excitement to showcase all the new stuff and Christmas gifts and of cause the Porto build to My Twitch Chat . . then went to the Directives . . . OMG WG what have you done . ok I know on the PTS the missions and Directives are easier but really . . I play a lot and some Captains play 6 or more Hours a Day . we don't think the 7 sets of directives are going to be done in time . . we have family and a Real life to attend to . after all this time of year is Family time .

Please just check the Directives I think you have Many typo's  . like too many 0's on all of them . and getting the ship building tokens if going to be far to much of a grind for many Captains .  . so please can you give us  either more time ( like another month ) or change the directives so they are doable by Normal Captains .

Happy Christmas WG :Smile_honoring:
