A researchable European Tier I cruiser, Tier II-X destroyers, as well as a European special Tier X destroyer 'Småland' will be added to the game in the upcoming super test session. Polish, Austro-Hungarian and Swedish ships are among them.

Currently, the concept of European destroyers brings the following features:

  • Very fast torpedoes with relatively low damage and long range;
  • Artillery is similar to that of American destroyers: quite effective in close combat but weaker than that of artillery-focused destroyers;
  • The speed of the new destroyers is relatively low: 35 knots at Tiers VII - X. It can be increased by an Engine Boost consumable found in a dedicated slot, giving a standard bonus of 8%;
  • Starting from Tier VII, the AA defense of European destroyers has a large area of effect and deals good damage;
  • Presence of Repair Party: at Tiers V - VIII it is the same as on British destroyers, and at Tiers IX and X this consumable will be active for 4 seconds longer;
  • Starting from Tier VIII, ships are equipped with Surveillance Radar in a dedicated slot. It has an action time of 15 seconds and a range of up to 7.5 km;
  • Lack of Smoke Generator and relatively high detection range: when fighting with other destroyers for key areas it's better to rely on Surveillance Radar and torpedoes.

With 8 swedish ships in the line, why do you not make it a swedish tree?

I think for many, especially the swedish players, it does not really matter when there is no other line in the nation.

That way, you also have room for a real pan-european DD line, where ships of many european nations can be included.

Vasteras and Skane look like paper ships (and prepare for the complaints about Gryf being Tier I) but these look fun.

I'm also a bit surprises that Sweden gets crammed in the PE-"nation". They had more than enough real ships to fill up an entire branch, which should be more than enough to make it a separate nation. Even when using design-filler for the other classes, it's still more realistic than the Russian "navy" we currently see in WoWS.

Tanatoy, no point of bashing you personally, but dev team... can I get sample of their "medicine"? It surely must be of the highest quality to be able to come up with that

Also: "waiter, there is European in my Swedish DD line":cap_old:

Ehhh...no?

The biggest ships in the Swedish navy was the "Tre Kronor"-class with 7x152 mm and about the size of an Omaha and they were built after WWII. The most heavily armed ships were the "Sverige"-class (1917) and they had 2x2 280 mm and were even smaller than "Tre Kronor" Perhaps three cruisers can be used (Fylgia, Gotland and Tre Kronor) and "Sverige" might work at T2. Many of our wartime DDs were italian designs so some "cross-tree-work" can be done there.

Apart from that: Nothing.

Well, Aliexpress line still consists of destroyers only. And by your description, Tre Kronor would make for interesting hightier DD or otherwise Freemium ship.

She's a cruiser so..no. Better to save her for that line.

Halland and Smaland have not even 500 AA dps. This is now "deals good damage".

Also, no smoke, no speed, no concealment. Just a line by WG to advertise to not press P and make sure CV finds your miserable ship.

Apart from that, obviously they have the potential to be ridiculous in good and bad ways, with 7 km concealment, but 7.5 km radar.

It makes no sense. Why call it European line than fill it with single nation?

Greece had destroyers, Poland had destroyers, Yugoslavia had destroyers.....

Khaba would make for a fine midtier cruiser, but was shoehorned into DD. Same with [insert large cruiser] being considered as mere cruiser by the game:Smile_smile:

ORP Gryf was a minelayer... yet will arrive as cruiser in this... european line.

Fits perfectly at Tier I along with the random collection of sloops and gunboats everyone else has.

No one ever complains about hydro range being shorter than surface detection....

T1 is no problem.

But you don't put a 8 800 ton ship with 2x2 + 1x3 152mm as a DD....no no no and hell no.

What?

The point I'm trying to make is that the base conceal is absolute garbage. You'll basically be sticking to your team most of the time doing f*** all in scouting, because your concealment is bad, making more daring moves only when your radar is off CD, which is when you can counter-radar whatever spots you and wipe it out with dpm and heal. But if you mess up and get caught without radar, you are basically permaspotted with no smoke and no speed.

Tatra can be exchanged for the HSwMS Wrangel. 4x75mm guns (Tachibana), 2x2 457mm torpedo tubes. 34kts. If that's too strong, the Rangar-class or Hugin-class is an option (2 tubes less, 4kts slower).

The point I'm trying to make is that the base conceal is absolute garbage

Yes, but you can get it down to 6.5K with the Concealment module and CE, at Tier VIII that's better than Kiev or Le Fantasque, and you have pretty scary torpedoes, main gun reload and radar to ambush any of the other DD lines. The whole confection is quite Pan-Asian in terms of gameplay.

But if you mess up and get caught without radar, you are basically permaspotted with no smoke and no speed.

I can see them ending up with a French style speed boost, +20% rather than +8%, as an exit strategy. Anything to get them over 40 knots would be fine.

The Halland, whose base concealment is 8.9km, can only get down to 6.99km (8.9 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.97)

The Smalland, whose base concealment is 7.9km, does not have radar.

The Oland goes down to 6.48, which is quite punchy for a Tier VIII DD with 7.5k radar, 75 knot torps and a 3 second reload.

The T10 is 7 km and is what I took as an example. 7 km is dogshit and yes, Russians and French may be worse, but those have an exit strategy. This thing does not. It either is able to counterradar to get rid of whatever is spotting it or it just is permaspotted.

And currently it has no such speed boost

Tatra can be exchanged for the HSwMS Wrangel. 4x75mm guns (Tachibana), 2x2 457mm torpedo tubes. 34kts. If that's too strong, the Rangar-class or Hugin-class is an option (2 tubes less, 4kts slower).

Wrangel is quite small, Hugin is more torpedo boat then destroyer. Wrangel would be the smallest destroyer in the game, Tatra is much closer to other T2 DDs by size. Dutch have the same problem, they don't have suitable T2 DD as wolf class is also much smaller then standard T2 DDs in the game.

My guess is that Swedish, Dutch, Spanish and Poles will get their destroyer subbranches inside PE DD line. This would make it easier if WG ever decide to give those nations separate lines in the future. It also keep some consistency in the line.

OK so in the hands of good players a kitey play at range torpedo boat with the potential to be really dangerous with ambushes.

But in the hands of Joe Average charge the hidden DD in the cap, deploy radar, deploy unstoppable torpedoes and hope to go out in a blaze of glory.

I mean you have the potential there for 91 knot  torpedoes there? That's mad, at least they didn't put it in with the anti ship missiles she carried I guess.
