I downloaded the files of Smeggo, and pasted both in the 0.8.10.0 folder of the res-mods.

Then I went to the camouflages, and clicked further until I reached the tiles themselves (as per Smeggo's explanation)

Then I replaced the tile of a camo I was sure I had (Pi-day) with the .dds file of the camo I made (it has to be .dds, jpg won't work), replacing the title of my file with the title of the camo I was replacing.
Then I opened the camouflages.xml in notepad++, and searched for "Pi Day", where I found the 4 colours, and changed the RGB values for each colour. Saved it.

Then launched game, and it worked.

I am doing the same procedures but the game won't load the camo and after a few seconds the PC crashes for me. I tried for the Union Jack Camo. It indeed does some steps in a positive way as the original Union Jack not getting loaded onto the ship. I'm actually a bit confused how yours work too. You designed a custom colored camo and replaced it as it is with an existent one. How do the RGB values work onto your new custom camo? Which RGB line corresponds to which shape in your custom pattern? How do they automatically relate to each other?

Crashes I never had, so I can't help you with that. Better remove the entire 0.8.10.0 resmods folder contents, and see if the game is stable that way.

As for the RGB-values. I took them from my MSPaint-file, and then inserted them in the camouflages.xml via notepad++ (RGB, and the last digit to 1.000). What colour corresponds with what pattern I don't know, I just did it randomly.

Well I guess I will see my camos only if I win the contest, lol. Thank you for the responses.

Thank you for your consideration.

I think I found the problem but I have no way of fixing this. The problem is I used Krita, a free software a bit like the Photoshop to make the camos. When you use your brush with 0.01px(smallest possible precision in program) and draw ,let's say, a rectangle using a single color, the program sometimes creates a 1px line frame over the hexagon with a different but very close color to blend the shape within the background(You can't even notice it if you don't extremely zoom-in to edges.). I hope this will not effect my status as a competitor because I indeed strictly used 3 main colors on each camo I submitted already. If they end-up liking them, I think WG staff can easily get rid of the bug I encountered. Since this is my first digital art, I don't think I will have neither time nor the patience to fix every single pixel bugged by the program.

Alright, I'll gladly help out for anyone who wants me to put them on a ship - but I believe in everybody can do it :Smile_trollface:

@MrFingers Right, the folder has to be created. To make it easier I have extracted the needed files, these can downloaded here and put into the res_mods\0.8.10.0\ folder:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XKCK9JQE1x3tEREem_Ik2ZHf5U7Y7uC7

Find a camo you can identify and have - and replace the picture. Feel free to ask me for advice. :Smile_honoring:

If that means you are volunteering I will PM you when we have picked the shortlist :)

And thanks!

Seems Im late to the party.

For those who delve in and preview the camouflage, I've previously written a guide on camouflage modding with the Camouflage.xml (albeit only posted it on the Asia forum)

https://forum.worldofwarships.asia/topic/37427-camouflagemodding-camouflage-textures-and-xml-editing/

You mighty like to first pick a ship that you own (to access the camouflage mechanism) and look up the ship group which it belongs, then edit the color scheme values. Specifics are illustrated in the Asian forum thread I linked above.

sooooo I'm a bit confused by the rules
gfPJJqR.png

are we allowed to incorporate the KotS logo or derive pattern with it in our design?

The 4th rule seems to imply one may use IP owned by wargaming but the third rule might prohibit the kots logo as an "existing artwork"

Hi guys, this is my final proposal for the contest; i modified/fixed my first one. As before it is ispired by the "lozenge camouflage" used on german aircrafts during ww1. Image is uploaded at 1024x1024; original is 2048x2048.

Hope you like it

For the record, it is OK to use or derive patterns based on the KOTS crown logo.
