Here is my proposal. It's a, let's call it, "navy" version of the "Lozenge camouflage", used at the end of WW1 by German aircrafts. Here is an example on a Fokker D.VII

Fokker_D_VII.jpg

This is my version. The only problem with it is that the "strip" (the white at the top and bottom don't count; it as just to use a 2048x2048 res. image) is supposed to be stacked on top of itself like a puzzle piece or a mosaic (which is much more similar); this is why i didn't put the top and bottom part, because it wouldn't have been a repeating pattern. So... there might still be some work to be done due to this "design flaw", but i don't think it's too bad; you need to just take the "strip" in the image and just stack it on top, on the bottom and at the sides; the effect can be seen in the image above.

@wot_2016_gunner those are 5 colours (lightblue, medium blue, medium blue, dark blue & black).

As for the up/down repeatability: it can be done, just draw 2 sides of the pattern (one horizontal, one vertical) past the vertical/horizontal limit so that the hexagons/pentagons are closed, then cut the excess away, and paste it at the other side. You then have an enclosed square that is perfectly tiled.

Thx; I didn't really know if using black for the borders would have counted.

I'll use some GIMP layers shenanigans to fix the pattern. Thx.

The Camo-colors actually have 4 values (red, green, blue and brightness) - so if you use the same blue twice with different brightness it counts as one.

At least that is the case when you change camos for mods:

I hope that during the voting process we get a “demo-picture” of each camouflage applied on a ship, like Smeggo’s example. It’s hard to choose based on just a tile (which may look nice when flat, but hideous when applied on a hull).

Heres my First Design, went with a typical Camo pattern using some basic colours nothing to fancy.

Simple design but it works i guess, since it is surpossed to be camo and not a skin.

(sorry for the next few posts).

Here is my Second design again following a similar colour scheme but different patterns, i like to call this 'sealine' pattern since its similar to a mountain line but for the sea instead.

And my third design regarding this colour scheme, i tried to do a dazzle style camo, but kinda messed it up and went for my own take lol.

Here it is regardless, may redo this one.

I just submitted 5 different camo items via google docs. I hope you guys will consider the patterns after you actually put at least 4 of the same together(in a square fashion) creating a larger image. I tried to upload the basic 2048x2048 px and a broader(repeated) 4096x4096 px at the same time but only 1 document is allowed per entry so. I also wanted to comment while I was uploading on google docs so next time please make a little comment section too :) Thank you!

I was going to ask the art team to do that, but we will have to see if that will work quickly enough. Maybe @Smeggo would be willing to help the community out here and work his magic? :Smile_hiding:

Alright, I'll gladly help out for anyone who wants me to put them on a ship - but I believe in everybody can do it :Smile_trollface:

@MrFingers Right, the folder has to be created. To make it easier I have extracted the needed files, these can downloaded here and put into the res_mods\0.8.10.0\ folder:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XKCK9JQE1x3tEREem_Ik2ZHf5U7Y7uC7

Find a camo you can identify and have - and replace the picture. Feel free to ask me for advice. :Smile_honoring:

Thanks Smeggo, you're a hero! I'll give it a go (unpacking a .rar just sits in my capabilities... JUST!)

I think it is okay to see the skins on ships too but there is also a slight downside. I mean yeah we all submit our camos in consideration with they will be applied to ships, but we can't know for sure too. For instance, a pattern on the camo maybe increased or decreased in size to fit the ships. A camo which has small patterns might look pretty good when its patterns made bigger. If we vote with the camos on ships the artists won't be able to adjust anything(except for the WG staff) on them as a beginner artist like me only design the camo in 2D.  ^_^' Edit: Now Smeggo provided a solution lol. The timing...

I'm not sure how putting VanillaCamos folder into the specificed location will work. Should you be kind enough to explain?

Pasted the contents in the 0.8.10.0 folder, pasted the .DDS-file in the camo-tiles and renamed it after a camo I had (replacing the existing tile), then went in the camouflages.xml and rewrote the RGB values for that camo.

And no no ship has a visible camo at all, so something went wrong.

Put the content of the zip-file into the WoWs-modfolder, so it should look like this:    \World_of_Warships\res_mods\0.8.10.0\content\gameplay\common\camouflage\textures

One issue with the camouflages.xml is that it may break if you use the common windows-editor (don't ask me why, but Notepad++ works)

Please put the camouflages.xml aside and see if the camo works at all, then you can put the camouflages.xml back into the folder and try changing the colours.
And download the xml again, yours may not be working anymore.

I updated the VanillaCamos - I'm sorry, the files were from 0.8.9 with some camos missing but now it should work again:

I did the same thing you said here. What should I see in game if I do this? I'm confused how to make my camo merge here and thus in the game. I'm fresh outta water regarding these matter. Now I will try the new files you provided.

Edit: I think I got it let me check if it works.

So, I downloaded the new folder for 0.8.10 and relocated it to the specific location again. I replaced the UK Dazzle camos with my custom made ones, renamed it like the original one. Removed the originals from the folder. I replaced for all the UK ship types just incase, but my daring still has the original camo on her. What am I missing here?

How did you manage this? I tried my custom one, and I think the game tried to load it but then my whole PC crashed for some reason.

I downloaded the files of Smeggo, and pasted both in the 0.8.10.0 folder of the res-mods.

Then I went to the camouflages, and clicked further until I reached the tiles themselves (as per Smeggo's explanation)

Then I replaced the tile of a camo I was sure I had (Pi-day) with the .dds file of the camo I made (it has to be .dds, jpg won't work), replacing the title of my file with the title of the camo I was replacing.
Then I opened the camouflages.xml in notepad++, and searched for "Pi Day", where I found the 4 colours, and changed the RGB values for each colour. Saved it.

Then launched game, and it worked.
