Captains,

 

With the release of 8.10, thanks to your reports, we have identified an issue with Gun Firing Ranges sometimes being reduced/increased mid battle spontaneously.

 

The team are aware of the issue and will work to fix it ASAP.

 

We will update you all with more information as it becomes available.

The issue seems to be related to the Sansonetti commander, and its perk that increases the gun-range. Once that is triggered, it applies to ALL players in the battle, and the gun-range is the number of km's that the Italian ship has, but now for all players. If your ship has a normal range that is shorter than that range, you can now "reach" it, but the shells won't be rendered server-side and thus do not register as hits (or damage). If your ship normally has more than that extended Italian range, your range gets reduced to it (but shells still render server-side, and thus can still do damage).

I could have neen useful if (as ANYONE in WG is probably AWARE that the BUG is caused by the new, special italian captain Sansonetti) to at least advice YOUR CUSTOMERS about the BUG CAUSE and advice to not use it, rather to simply put a very bland, generic, announcement, in the classic style of "we are in a hurry to prepare a bug fix" without any, real, useful information.

But probably that could be an admission about "Yeah! We screwed, epicly, the game. AGAIN"

Thank you again for your reports. We investigated and localized the issue in update 0.8.10 with Luigi Sansonetti when Gun Firing range sometimes being reduced/increased in battle. The fix was delivered on live servers and don’t require any additional downloads. Now we’re working on the compensation list and will be back with the news soon.
