Its a very good ship, probably my favorite T8 Premo BB. Great gun placement, strong armor, and decent speed.

 

Its basically an improved Nelson

In other words - in Gascan you have to evade and avoid the hit to not burn down in 2 minutes. 

Gascogne is one of the best gun platforms at tier 8, it's also a versatile ship that are great for flanking maneuvers, Lenin is also a very good ship, but it's strengths is bowtanking. So two very different battleships. Personally, I would go for Gascogne first, it's very powerful and a lot of fun.

Strong armour only if your facing forward for incoming shots all the time. Show the side on Lenin taking shots and you'll take heavy damage.

 

It's very much a clone of Nelson, same weakness if you take AP shots on the side

 

It's pretty agile and turrets turn pretty fast, also pretty good off the mark as well. It's better than Nelson in that respect, it doesn't feel like a slow boat to China like Nelson does. But just like Nelson, you are forever trying to avoid showing that side, otherwise it gets cited for fun. Also note you can only shoot 18k and you have no option with the plane to pick a float plane and extend the gun range. You can only use an attack plane and no option with modules either to extend the fire range as well. So you are stuck with 18k main battery range all the time, which means you need get in closer risking showing that weak side.

 

18k might sound okay still, but it's guns have pretty bad dispersion even at that range unless you install the module for better aiming.

I would disagree. Nelson has the better super-heal and also awesome HE shells for anything staying bow-on with you. Nelson has more accurate guns as well, and just generally plays better as a ship at tier 7 - than the Lenin does playing tier 8 and 10

 

I have both and would sooner play Nelson over the Lenin for the tier matchmaking both face. Lenin seems to suffer more for it.

Everyone who is saying this ship is bad does not know how to position himself to make the armor work. The guns are very accurate on short distances and accurate enough to hit on long distances.
