Well maybe yes the vid is  about the development of CV's, interesting non the less

Well developement in cvs as ships basically has 3 steps:

1.Initial designs with biplanes and limited real combat use

2.Inclusion of internal assembly and armament hangars, lifts and catapults

3.Nuclear power plants

Everything else is either aviation developement (planes, tactics) or weapon system (guns, bombs, missiles, radars) developement...

Best have a detonation flag if you've got one of those things.

I suppose 100km blast radius is ALWAYS next to the enemy fleet... :Smile_hiding:

Not even close bro, making a reactor core actually go nuclear is basically impossible, there are some specific reactors that theoretically might do it in very specific set of circumstances that should not be able to occur by accident and none of those were ever installed on any ship of any kind...

True.  A melt down is also unlikely with a PWR (do they even use other types in ships these days?).  Older reactor designs are quite capable of melt down (or melt through as per Fukushima!).  A spent fuel pool can also go critical (from hazy memory, I think it's called a "prompt critical") in the event of cooling water re-circulation failing (not a nice thought if you live near one).

Nobody who's ever watched that show, at least not recently, could reccomend that, speaking as someone who did.

Games aren't supposed to be realistic, they're supposed to be fun.

It's because the ones ingame are all late(ish) WW2 refit configurations while the ones shown in the video are all earlier post conversion configurations.

I will admit it would be cool if the (A) hulls were modeled after the earlier versions of the ships, such as having a version of the Furious that lost most of its heavy AA and forward/aft secondaries but instead had the second flight deck allowing for faster turn around times on planes etc.
