[ISFC] Ebusus Beta Tester 258 posts 5,688 battles Report post #1 Posted May 5, 2015 I know it might be a tad to soon as there are tonns of other stuff to be fleshed out first but: Would it not be great if a certain amount, even if not big, of destroyed ships, do not go automatically under but, say, roll on their backs and stay afloat, or change to some really burned out state and keep floating around just as in real life? Just like on WoT, destroyed vehicles keep around, much of the same could happen at WoW. This would add to the battle imersion as ships in battle would not all go under in a matter of seconds. Add a, say, yellow wreck marker, on the Strat maps so that those busy on the sniper mode might "see" that they are aproaching a wreck they might ram. This could be paired with some really catastrophic explosions like the turret flying in the air thing of WoT.
OVanBruce Alpha Tester 2,543 posts 16,031 battles Report post #2 Posted May 5, 2015 The catastrofic explosions would be a nice adition. Any ship that is defeated while receiving a citadel hit should depict one.
SerPurr Beta Tester 722 posts 16,792 battles Report post #3 Posted May 5, 2015 Totally agree. A slightly more complex damage model would be the icing on the cake! I'd love to see wrecks (or a % of them) remain floating longer. If there's fear of gamebreaking things (hiding behind wreck in cap etc.), I'd have no issue with their collision models being switched off after x-amount of time either. chaplainDMK Players 299 posts 692 battles Report post #8 Posted May 5, 2015 Another bonus is that you need to dodge sinking ships. Prince of Wales for example had it's aim thrown off and had to turn towards the Bismarck and Prinz after it had to dodge the Hoods hulk. Plus huge magazine explosions like the Barham

What I like to see is: Sinking slowly for 5 minutes burning and having small explosions all arround when they die due to fire and shells Huge explosions tearing the ship apart with magazine and citadel hits Capzising for like 2-3 minutes when gone due to floding and torpedo impacts

[SPUDS] Unintentional_submarine [SPUDS] Beta Tester 4,052 posts 8,765 battles Report post #13 Posted May 5, 2015 It would be awesome with magazine explosions and floating wrecks (for some, it would be bad it if were all ships). Magazine explosions should obviously emit heavy smoke, as so clearly visible from the battle of Jutland to Yamato's demise.

It's not as if everyone here is running on a cardboard box. I agree with you, but a burning ship drifting trough a small channel blocking it and disturbing torpedo attacks on the zone would add to gameplay. Like a tank can be used for cover in WOT, not so usefull but still gamechanging
PhroX Beta Tester 210 posts 1,190 battles Report post #15 Posted May 5, 2015 Yeah, I'd love to see more variety of ship destruction with some having longer term effects. [ISFC] Ebusus Beta Tester 258 posts 5,688 battles Report post #16 Posted May 5, 2015 One could argue that if destroyed tanks can be kept around in WoT that a burned out floating wreck should not be such a strain to the system either. After the initial death animation with some extra smoke, explosions and debri flying around, a non sinking ship could take the form of a really burned out model of the killed ship. No extra smoke or explosions, just a nice dead ship upright or on its back, adding to the feel of the battle. And yes, killing a big ship in a strait could be a nice way of effectively blocking it for a while. Possibly also give the chance to give that wrecked ship a coup de grace via a torpedo in order to really sink it.

And USS Arizona took a modified 410mm artillery shell in the magazines, too. That was a pretty spectacular explosion, too.
