CVs and operations

Hello there!
I would like to ask some seasoned operations skippers about the possibility of leveling tier 6 CVs in operations.

I have recently reset the US CV line and I am currently at tier 6.
Which operations would you recommend (if any), and which one should I stay away from?

How is the XP gain?

Thank you in advance.

I'm not a huge fan of CV for Operations - Tier 6 CV dont do a huge amount of alpha damage, while in operations there's lots and lots of enemy ships, and spotting isnt a big consideration (as the bots just come towards you anyway).

If I had to pick one, I'd use Ryujo because of the torp alpha and the relatively fast speed of planes.

Killer Whale is the absolut worst because randoms cannot figure out how to finish this ops.

Aegis is so easy that even the biggest idiots rarely fail.

Defense of Retard Station is hit and miss.

Raptor Rescue is a bit better, but Raptor can beach itself every now and then, which results in zero stars.

Rating

1. Aegis

2. Raptor Rescue

3. Defense of RS

4. Killer Whale :fish_boom:

I´ve jumped on CV train not that long ago. I even bought Ark Royal for Ops specifically. To be completely honest, it didnt fulfill my expectation. But not by CV being bad, but bcs T6 ops are not that great when it comes to xp and credit farming. Or I am just spoiled by my Atlanta in Narai ( up to 20k free xp, 1,5M credits).

Regarding the CV play in Ops, you can do as good as any surface ship. Killer whale and Aegis are quite good, Raptor rescue not so much (big map, too random npc spawn equals to be always late for doing damage. And killing NPC CV takes too much time thanks to their fighter CAP).

Tip: most of your dmg in ops comes from torps. Ofc using USN CV requires some finicking around their poor torps, eg. using DBs on appropriate targets.

I find CVs to viable in all scenarios, though Ryujo remains the best pick due to torps and AP bombs, both best for dispatching ships as quickly as possible.

He knows. Trust him. I distrusted him. It was a mistake to distrust him.

Much Much slower than in randoms. But it is doable.

I disagree - ofc the bxp is a bit lower, but more reliable imo.

So, surely not "much, much slower".

This was without those special flags or camos (first win, tho).

I think anniversary camo, normal xp flag and Kappa Kappa.

Regardless, fully stuffed this would've been 15k+, which is respectable for t6 and how easy Aegis is.

If you consistently get defeats then yea.

This is part where USN versatility bites them back in the arse. Even more so with Ranger and only three bombs per run.

CVs in Killer Whale have a useful function and can supplement the team, tackling high priority distant threats.

CVs in Aegis frequently sabotage their own team without realising.

a) Spotting the first enemy group too soon, so the bot Mahan smokes too early and the group comes to a halt 5km further back, rendering AP less effective on those juicy broadsides.

b) Repeated torpedo runs against the nearest targets. The AI will manoeuvre to dodge torpedoes so this frequently means turning their flat broadsides away from the rest of the team, and/or turning away from spreads of torpedoes aimed by the the rest of the team

c) Failing to spot targets beyond detection range of the rest of the team

d) Poor situational awareness, prioritising targets nearest to the CV base that are already being engaged by other team members.

e) Particularly the Kongo and Ishizuchi BBs rather than the more important Fuso. A smart CV would use the torpedoes to get Fuso to sail away from the Exit and/or sail broadside to friendly BBs.

Very rarely have I seen a CV in Aegis that had a clue.

problem is that alot of operations are not "sutable" for some of class. Offc if you could do 200 k dmg in T6 ship it would yeald alot of EXP..but there were some of operation with much less pew pew and much more drive around.

and CV in design are not very good for DMG printing in PVE. Or better to say other classes are much better for it.....when last time you got 247k dmg in t6 dd? on randoms :). To cv dmg dealing is almost the same in PVE and PVP...even some bots better evade torps than peoples :)

200k in a CV is easily doable if the team is taking it'S time. But it's a bit harder, agreed.

It's last 7 days or so.
My total stats after the rework are:

looks like I only played a handful of games before the re-grind.

I felt realy dirty re-grinding this ship. On the other hand I was not having much fun and I will not play it again, since the grind is over.
