Hello frens,
any idea about some new CVs or even CV branches?

Is there any new CV branch in the making you might have heard of?
Any premium CV on the horizon?

What happened to the tier 8 Brit CV that was supposed to be released?

• As long as CVs are here, more CVs to choose from is not really an issue, so I'm ok with it, despite CVs overall needing rework. but for example Ark Royal, imo, is a good addition, decent in power level for a CV and it isn't like you face more CVs, as otherwise you'd just face other CVs.
• Skeptical about balancing though. Like, Enterprise is OP, GZ is crap, Ark Royal was decent, but WG has shown that it has no clue how to balance CVs (GZ "buff", Hosho changes...), so next CV could be fine like AR or a complete dog's dinner. Indomitable for example is pretty much just questionable in design.

I would like to see them take the good things about Ark Royal and apply them to the Tier IV CVs. There's something quite pleasant about the Ark's mixture of slower planes and stronger (but fewer) attacks. With some changes to close in AA (and bug fixes to sector management) it might be quite good.

 

On the same theme I'd quite like to see smaller carriers like Bogue and Independence returning with the "fewer, slower, stronger" attack ethos or perhaps as support ships whose main responsibility is spotting and air defence.

Indomitable has gone lost in development, so I'm afraid it may take some time. 

 

Unfortunately WG seems to drop projects sometimes and move on (hello operations...) - I hope that this is not the case with more CVs.

I wouldn't be surprised if WG released a premium Colossus class for the Commonwealth line considering how many the Royal Navy turned out and then sold. Actually in general I wouldn't be surprised if most nations got at least a premium carrier at some point. 

 

What would be a lot or more speculative is if they will try to make another whole line, as that would require an awful lot of paper ships but hey look at the Russian BB line. 

 

As for whether WG do do another line or just more premiums it will come down to cost vs profit, how much does it cost to build a CV for them against what uptake can they expect, hence why I see premiums from different nations popping up as more likely because then it appeals to both a national market as well as the CV mains.

I'm happy to have my Ark Royal, but FINALLY let them use the "uneven tiers".

There would be/should be some 'special' CV types there, but it's not gonna happen.

 

So just fill those tiers. If you MUST have special CVs, bring them as PREMIUM.

 

I'd fill up RN CVs no problem. Here's how:

T4: HERMES

T5: Glorious - to have Swordfish...mix Hermes and Ark Royal loadout. 

T6: FURIOUS (premium: ARk Royal);

T7: Illustrious - just mix the plane types from T6 and T8. 

T8: IMPLACABLE (premium Indomitable has sunk?)

T9: Majestic-class... plenty to choose from.

T10: AUDACIOUS

 

Giving the Premium RNs the planes from the previous class, but MORE of them seems to work...

So, for the Indomitable, get the Furious loadout, same like they did with Ark Royal?

They could also mix in some lend-lease stuff from the USA.

US CV Premiums will be keeping WG in business for years. There might be some excitement about Yorktown, Saratoga, Wasp and Hornet....

They'd be stupid not to do premiums. Ark Royal works good. Probably most balanced.

Just have the premium carry the "older" loadout, but a bit more of them. 

Saves work (no modelling...) and makes money. In some cases they'd not even have to remodel the ship itself much.

Thet did build it into the game back in 2016, I'm still hoping it can be an escorted ship in a scenario. Might be a bit OP to make it a playable ship considering Lancasters dropping tall boys on German BBs etc.

Yeh Im still curious what they will do with the old odd tier CVs it would be silly not to use them, not sure they will make them premium though (too much outrage of cash grabbing) but I guess time will tell.

IMHO

 

1. Remove RF from ALL current CVs

2. Buff TBs and DBs as needed to compensate no 1 and perhaps even make loadouts so you can choose normal/deepwater torps and he/ap bombs ON ALL lines possibly making bigger slower reloading squads

3. Cut the dropable fighter squads to a bare minimum

 

This done and now having strike/main battle carrier done now there is room to add ESCORT carriers...

They can have:

1.Fast RFs

2.Big and potent figter consumables with reduced reload

3. NO TBs and say very limited (but faster) DB squadron with small HE or AP bombs with lower pen

 

This way you make two distinct specialised sub-classes of cv with different tasks...

"Big strike carriers" that are more apt at dumping damage on capital targets but bad against dds and subs as well as in support against other cvs AND "Small escort carriers" good at hunting DDs and subs due to RF and DB speed but bad against capital targets due to lower pen and damage values and good at blocking other cv in raiding your team...

 

This would also decrease the constant "provide AA cover" abuse...

Wasted dev time to create more of a class that contributes nothing to the game, but just retracts from the gameplay.

 

It would be much esier to just delete all carriers, but sadly that aint happening, because wargaming are privy to the sunk-cost fallacy

Why does it contribute nothing to the game in your opinion?
How about spotting and finnishing off wounded enemies that retreated?

Just buff the planes to make up for it. Surely will turn out well. I mean, if GZ can get great hull for lackluster planes, then the other way round will be fine too, right?
