Destroyers are fine. Learn how to play to anyone having trouble.

Implementation of submarines will not hurt DD's or save DD's. It will simply introduce another ship class. DD's will have an easier time getting economy rewards since as it stands now subs die fast to DDs. So that's a plus I guess.

Cant vote, I think DDs are fine, hence the second question cannot be answered in a logical continuation as they dont need saving...

the questions are too black/white. in a match with only 1 radar in each team, there is absolutely no problem. as soon as there are 3+ or uneven radar matchups, eg 1 vs 2+, you are screwed and completely teamdependant and close to being irrelevant.

in games with cv's, that know what they are doing, you're screwed and there is no avoiding or "just dodge". against a competent cv,  the dd's are the first and easiest victims...this just doesnt seem like the truth, because there are still bad cv players out there.

DD's are fine, they just require a very careful approach to the game. Just rushing into caps isn't an option anymore.

Also, I agree with the poll not being 'open'. The second question is very leading. And open debate without any input from OP? Interesting.

I have a feeling that OP has been "touched" by CVs.

DDs are perfectly fine.

I am a DD main.

Radar : No problem.

Hydro: No problem.

KNOW the range of the enemy radar in every enemy radar equipped ship you face and what have you to worry about.

KNOW the HYDRO capabilities of every enemy ship you face and what have you to worry about,

KNOW the concealment range of the enemy ship and you will usually find you can see them before they can detect you..

Play smart.

Perma spot the ship keep hitting F3 and someone might sink it..... eventually...

Don't do it alone.

--------------------------------------

SUBS:

In my opinion, only appeal to the children.

You've only got to look at the acoustic torps....

Silent Hunter is better for Subs than World of Warships.

Anyway the naval classification for SUB is SUBMARINE in my opinion it is hardly suitable for the games we play here with WARSHIPS..

Just remember the chaos of the initial CV rework in 8.0.....

Yes.

No.

Submarines will cause toxic gameplay.

Destroyers are fine in terms of power level and influence, but they do have a challenging learning curve and it gets especially steep at tier 8. I think that makes them harder for new players to get into and learn. The high risks and low hp pool also means that bad destroyer players tend to die early, as opposed to bad battle ship players who survive until the end of the match not doing much.

I'm worried that submarines will make the learning curve and skill floor for destroyers even harsher and give them too many roles. Aside from that I'm also expecting lots of screaming in the chat from people demanding that destroyers deal with the submarine engaging them *right now* as opposed to cap contesting, screening/hunting enemy DD and spotting, as well as unskilled dd players dying yoloing in to try and hunt destroyers submarines whilst spotted in front of the enemy team. (I've not played in the beta, these are just concerns I have as opposed to issues that actually exist).

If WG give Subs their own game platform: Like convoy attack, Agent drop or pick up, Port attack where the target is a specific ship... Subs will in my opinion work.

If WG put Subs in random games... it's over.

Often underestimated by players who obtained a Tier VIII a long time ago and have been building and adapting to changes rather than having to learn them all at once.

I hope we are some way from having subs in normal Random matches. Having them in a separate mode will allow us to debug the game play for WG... it'll be much better if they don't rush it! I think we when it is fixed up we will see more specialised lines of DDs and small cruisers, which might well have to take on more of the spotting and capping role.

I only played gunship DDs, and I had no problem with the DD counters. I would say they are great fun :cap_rambo:

As for the second question, really dunno what to answer because it is premature.

But again NO SUBS !!!!

Name me a battle where Submarines actively engaged in surface fleet actions?

They either attacked convoys, dropped or retrieved agents, ran supplies ie. Malta or IJN, collected beach samples, attacked port installations or moored capital ships.

The Warships sunk by Submarines were usually ships damaged in fleet actions first and finished off in the days after..

If these Subs hit random, random will not be worth playing...

Mixed actions? Never, as far as I am aware. But they were certainly on the periphery.

Quite so. A new twist on Raptor Rescue, perhaps?

Yes, but they only played a part after the battle to pick off the lame Ducks or to collect survivors/prisoners for interrogation.

Absolutely, give them their own sphere, their own platform, their own specific missions and any DD joining has no grounds for complaint...

Threat perceived, Threat Removed

Seriously?? 1982..... what does that have to do with World of Warships.... which I may add is a second world war themed game...

and regards to threat perceived, threat removed the Belgrano was actually outside of the zone of action laid down by the UK Navy sailing away and as a UK citizen I find its sinking abhorrent...

The only thing DDs could use is either a bit more AA or preferably nerf the crap out of CV rocket planes.

Apart from that the're fine.

Also, while i want subs in WoWS, i'm happy they'll stay in their own game mode for a while until they're balanced and integrated into the WoWS gameplay.

We don't need a CV 2.0 crap with subs.

Where's the "DDs are mostly fine but have some issues" reply option?

And subs certainly aren't going to save DDs. They're just going to get DD players yelled at even more, since they now do it wrong not only if they are not at the front, spotting and capping, but also do it wrong if they're not close to everyone else and hunting submarines.
