[WG] WG_Lumberjack WG Staff 2,392 posts 4,509 battles Report post #1 Posted September 26, 2019 Halloween Operations This year's Halloween will entertain you with an updated themed Port and the return of two familiar Operations: "Saving Transylvania" and "Sunray in the Darkness." In "Saving Transylvania" you'll set out to accompany the ship “Transylvania,” protecting it from the attacks of catapults and Zikasa ships. But the challenges don't stop there—you'll have to face the legendary battleship, Rasputin, at the end of the battle. Join forces with other players in the "Sunray in the Darkness" Operation to fight back the forces of darkness that are breaking through the portal. Only magical guard towers can close the portal, which is why players need to protect them against any attacking enemy ships until the portal is closed. Be on lookout for the Filth, which is gradually taking over the engagement area. Be careful: ships constantly lose HP in the Filth. Both Operations can be completed in a Division and at the new Nightmare difficulty. Raid for the Filth A portal to another dimension has opened in the post-apocalyptic world. Dare you step into another world through this gate and engage in a brutal fight against the forces of darkness and other treasure hunters? Welcome to a new game mode—Raid for the Filth! Head into battle playing the unique ships of a new temporary nation! Players will have three branches available: destroyers, cruisers, and battleships, with three ships in each branch. As you progress through the branches, the ships in them will gradually transform from man-made machines into gigantic sea monsters. These changes will impact the ships's equipment as well—magic will replace the classic technology step-by-step. You'll need XP to research new ships in the branch. In the new mode, three teams with three players in each fight against one other, as well as a horde of dark forces controlled by AI. The main objective is to gather a special resource both from locations on the map and from defeated enemies. The forces of darkness will do everything in their power to prevent you from escaping their world. As the battle unfolds, the enemy's power will grow, but so will the rewards you can obtain. However, it's not enough just to pack your hold full of trophies—you'll need to return to your world through the portal at the map's center to win. Participants begin a battle without any consumables. You can obtain charges for them when you destroy enemies or lose allies. Will you take a risk and engage some truly powerful enemies in battle for the most valuable loot, or will you be satisfied with a small portion of the available resources and make a safe escape through the portal? The choice is yours! Have you successfully returned through the portal? Then all the resources you've collected will be added to your team's spoils. Not everyone will be so lucky though—if you perish or don't escape through the portal before the end of the battle, you'll score only 20% of the resources you've gathered for your team. After the battle, you can spend the resources accumulated by your team in a dedicated section of the Armory. Do you want to feel the chilling Halloween atmosphere even after the holiday? Permanent camouflages styled as monster ships will become available in a dedicated Armory section with the release of Update 0.8.9. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/bulletin-089/ 1
[ALONE] Smeggo Modder 2,485 posts 15,343 battles Report post #2 Posted September 26, 2019 The "Raid for the Filth" is funny, that mixture of coop and pvp is interesting. The "Sunray in Darkness"-ship mechanics have slightly changes, but it's still nice. The Nobilium-CV is missing. But excluding "Terror from the deep"-ops is disappointing. That was by far the most entertaining halloween-ops.

[N4L] elmo85 Players 5 posts 4,728 battles Report post #4 Posted September 27, 2019 Raid for the filth is a clusterfuck, I don't see the point of it. The ops are okay, although they are really Hard for an average team. I hope Ranked+Halloween+Italian ships are not introduced all the same time, because that will be just too much; event fatigue can kill the game.
[CHUCK] OseiP Players 46 posts 12,503 battles Report post #5 Posted September 27, 2019 The ship distribution has to change: 2 DDs with me a CA - they pick up every XP up to 400 and then bugger off. I tried to gather XP what was left and then was killed right before entering the exit-portal by a BB - there were plenty of them in other groups (not as a divi). The problem was, that I had to sail arround it, as it only has 2 exits - it should have 4 or as a tradeoff at least three.
[WALLY] Vinyl_ScratchPlays Players 68 posts 7,262 battles Report post #6 Posted September 27, 2019 I found that Sunray in the Darkness is quite hard on (hard) mode, And not having a CV is hard, because Ithink it was a requirement to have a CV in this mode to be able to stop all the ships a few times and have a heal to everyone. But now with no way to stop the ships, its very hard to even stop them before the second tower, let aloen the 1st I wouldnt dare go on super hard just how much of a cluster mess it is on Hard. So I think something need to change slightly to make it more feesable

Plus having most of the hits making only the now usual 10% damage seems ridiculous for so many bots incoming.
[1701] XDMeloniXD Players 195 posts 17,341 battles Report post #8 Posted September 27, 2019 The new halloween event seems unsteady. I don't prefer this less story-based version of the halloween event and I honestly got bored extremely quickly, the old ones were cooler and this event was a reskin of the post apocalyptic one. The design on the halloween event ships feel like a downgrade as well, it has more of the post apocalyptic, not the steampunk feel to it and the tier 9 ships are just.... come on, could have done better with them. But that's a matter of opinion ofcourse. I personally wanted to get more ships in the style of the good guys and the bad guys in the last ones had a more animalistic feel, now its just... robots. And the rewards in the armory are dissapointing AF, could you not have given us the chance to get the 2016-17 skins and commanders for the filth? I'm honestly worried about this years event, Its one of my most favorite things of the year, this is so... lame

[R7S] lovelacebeer Players 4,158 posts 25,223 battles Report post #10 Posted September 27, 2019 Sunday in the Darkness certainly is a lot harder, quite satisfying as a challenge but no way would I want to do it unless as part of a division the vast majority of random players I wouldn't trust to be capable of achieving this mission. Also the CV will need to be re added its special abilities are VERY needed for this level of difficulty. The flith collection mission I found pretty entertaining, it's fun hunting the resources then making a break for the portal and visually the monster in the cage was cool. Sadly the ships themselves were a bit boring as they look just like the post apocalyptic ships although I assume that's intentional as plenty of people will buy them. I would suggest it should be made clearer that the objective is to exit via the portal a lot of people in battle are clearly confused by the objective. One final point and not sure if anyone else had this but often when the battle ended the screen would flicker for a few seconds, didn't get it in randoms only in the Halloween missions.

Kobayashi camo is 7,000 Doubloons Scorpiod camo is 10,000 Doubloons In the Armory Scorpiod and 10-point commander is 8,000 Doubloons Infernal camo for TX is 6,000 Doubloons Each one has exactly the same bonuses. 1,000 Doubloon costs GBP2.82. [AA7] Afghanicus Players 2,106 posts 14,513 battles Report post #16 Posted September 29, 2019 I've tried the "Raid for the Filth" for a couple of games yesterday. Having something different and mixed bots with real players is nice but I didn't enjoy it that much. After just 2-3 games, I've noticed that the pattern with bots is exactly the same every time, isn't it? No random spawning etc.? Seems like the very same ships are spawning at the exact same places, at the exact same time... The "caps" are located at the exact same places on the mini-map. The 'filth' distribution seems ok... The DDs can easily get into all but getting only 3 per second, CAs need more time but get 10 per second and BBs have trouble getting anything but when they do they collect most of it almost instantly (100 per second?). I believe the DD torps don't do much dmg and no main guns at all apparently. If you use secondaries, you're too close already and probably will be killed easily even by bots, real players will delete you in a blink of an eye. I guess DDs are for a quick collection of 'filth' in small amounts and run away as soon as the portal is opened. No chance at even getting close to Rasputin. CAs seem like the most balanced ones. You can still get some 'filth', you can put up a fight but again you'd have a very hard time even getting close to Rasputin. BBs, especially if they are teamed up, can stay almost til the end. And when few of them attack Rasputin, they can rip him apart without too much issues. At the later stages of the match, I can see them waiting close to the portal and killing the poor ones which try to escape with low HP. They become an easy target and easy 'filth' collection for such BBs. This is just a rough opinion based on just a couple of played matches (like 5-6 yesterday).. I'll update it if I find anything differently than already stated.
[GBUK] G_UK Players 28 posts 16,262 battles Report post #17 Posted September 29, 2019 Filth Mode Played all the ships in the filth collection mode, took down Rasputin a couple of times when I got team-mates who knew what they were doing. Escaped more often than not with decent amounts of Filth. The final unlock ships seem quite powerful especially Mutantovsk (which is plain OP) compared to their predecessors. Please tell me we are not going to be charged Doubloons to unlock them (although thinking about it now, that may have been for the port slot). Octodroid seems to be very weak with long reload and no torps. Angler is interesting as it is a support ship, it 's a bit weak by itself but the perma-buffs you give your teammates more than make up for it. T2-3 BB's are very sluggish but can tank ridiculous amounts of damage, I'd prefer them to be a bit more like the starter BB and trade a bit of that tankiness for a bit of rudder shift. DD's struggle to do anything against the BB's except run away. BUG: Hall of Fame screen always appears at end of battle awarding zero points for win and sunk ships. Saving Transylvania (Hard) Only played once and got 4* Still quite easy except for Rasputin who appears to be near invincible. We had killed everything else and had the entire team most of which were at close range piling in torps and cits and he seemed to be barely being scratched. Transylvania happily just sailed past and through the portal to end the game. Sunray in the Darkness (Hard) Played 3-4 times, won once 4* (failed to kill Gorgon). Very challenging with Random players, seemed like lots of people who had never played it before asking what to do. More torpedo soup than I remember. Playing BB, never got a chance to go ram the Gorgon as I got bogged down fighting the hordes of ships at the frontline and didn't have time to spare to hunt the Gorgon. [R7S] lovelacebeer Players 4,158 posts 25,223 battles Report post #18 Posted September 29, 2019 I have been getting a lot of problems with sound mostly have to just adjust (wiggle back and forth) the sound levels to hear the guns also a lot of screen flicker when zooming in and out and when final results screen comes up. Im not getting any of this in the live server so I'm assuming it's a issue with the update rather than anything my end.
[ANWW] kyurin Players 9 posts 9,944 battles Report post #19 Posted September 29, 2019 Raid mode is fun, would be nice if there were more randomized spawn locations for the first few enemies though. Fossil's Energy Absorber and Scorpioid's Protection Zone could use some better descriptions. Energy Absorber makes it sound like you need to take damage in order to heal but that doesn't seem to be the case. Protection Zone makes you invincible...in which way? HP can't drop to 0? You won't take direct damage? Fire damae yes/no? How is it different from Crocosaur's Energy Shield? A more detailed description would be nice, you shouldn't have to use it in order to figure it out. Steel Lancet: Garbage. 2x5 torps with 40s reload that deal 4.1k alpha damage is your main armament? Really? No main guns, secondaries require you to be close to point blank to the enemies and if you do manage to get some torp hits, you can expect 30kish if all 10 hit. Reminder that some enemy BBs have 160k HP. Consumables are lackluster even considering that it's the first ship in the "line". Aside from the heal, the cruiser gets 40s of reload booster, the BB gets 90% damage resist, the DD gets... a torpedo reload booster so you can slap the enemy BB for 20% of its max HP again. Nice. Oh right, it also has a speed boost. Boring, I mean cool. Angler Again, what's with the pitiful alpha damage on the torps? Especially when it's the only weapon for the first two DDs, unless you get within 4-5km of the enemy and hope your secondaries hit? At least Anglers consumables make up for it. Somewhat. A supporting ship that gives your teammates buffs is an interesting role. Mutantovsk Underwhelming compared to the other "T3"s. You finally have main guns, but it's just...meh. There's just nothing that makes it stand out like the cruisers or the battleships. Torps now do 6.4k max, but range is down to 5km. Meh. At least you have main guns now. Consumables... Twilight Turn: fun to watch at. That's all. Covert Repair: You have main guns, now don't use them otherwise you don't get the HP regen. 10/10. This would have been great on the T1 or the T2... Also kinda weak compared to the other repair consumables. Speed boost was amazing for ramming speed, now it doesn't negate the ramming damage. This one sentence is enough to take out 50% of the consumable's fun. No real complaint about the cruisers. Nothing really special about the T1 but it doesn't feel particularily weak. Octodroid is more of a sidegrade but still fun. Fossil being able to go over 30kn in reverse is hilarious. No real complaint about the battleships either. At times it feels like they're too tanky though. 140k/160k HP + strong heal + (almost) invul button make them a tough nut to crack and they can dish out some hefty damage themselves. If you're going nofun on the Mutantovsk ramming consumable then go nofun on the BB invul buttons as well. Unless you're fine with BBs pretending to be coastal defense for the portal and blocking the exit.
