Ark Royal opinion (early)

verdict- Dont buy it.

 

(disclaimer only played a few games and they have all been vs t8 this is first impressions. but ive had enough id refund it that was an option dont see me playing this much more there is just no point to it.)

 

the idea of having a t6 CV with bigger squadrons of t4 planes was fun and fit with the history of the ship

 

the problem is during the test phase that aspect just got neutered so what you end up with is a t6 Cv with t4 planes, and a slightly faster replenishment rate.

 

so the gameplay just ends up being very slow and very run of the mill. the main difference in gameplay between this and other T6's is that your planes are very slow.

 

Its not bad even against t8 you can still do stuff, its just slow and boring. the carpet bombing got neutered, the torps dropping in 3 is nice and the rockets are weak. its all very meh.

 

might be of interest to people that only want to use one hand to play . people that like to go for snacks while the planes go to target and for people that want to have it in thier port.

im not sure who that is, unless it was people like me who were pretty much going to buy her anyway as we grew up on stories about her and other such famed boats, i dunno it just seems like a waste of a great opportunity that was mis handled could of been a unique and fun ship , they may have got it about on par balance wise but they killed its spirit doing so. its just a bit sad

I think Europizza was referring to the "people that only want to use one hand to play" part. Probably cause there's this legend that a part of the playerbase is not evolved enough to coordinate both their hands simultaneously.

Yeah pretty crappy legend too CV players play many ships,I prefer my ships to CV's now, AA is nerfed so they say, well not in my games it is not. Why did people not check the YouTube vids of this thing, tbh it should be a tier 4 CV, way way way too unimpressive, or at least like certain tanks in WoT's, have PMM (Preferential MatchMaking)

So the ship is not OP, well I am interested then.

As it is premium, if it will underperform, it will be buffed, hopefully not overbuffed.

Look at Sims it took only two years of data gathering ;)

I’m away on holiday but I’m purchasing this little gem as soon as I get back. I don’t care it’s not OP, ( I loved the emerald!) but it looks like a very distinctive,interesting ship to play.

It might not be good in pvp like against T7-8, but it is good for T6 scenario. I know that planes are bit clumsy slow but for fun yes.

A really nice CV for operations. Stay close to the action, so the slow planes no issue.

And avoid Operation Newport, as usual

Same here, 1st crate dropped the mission and I completed last night. It's the only CV I've got as I'm not a fan of the CV play-style but, based on Smeggo's and others opinion I'll keep it for Scenario run outs.

Can't help but think that if this was an iconic ship of another nation, it would have got better treatment from the developers.

Seems pretty gud, especially with dat regen rate for planus.

 

and because the planes are slow lining up attacks is so much easier.

My clan boss had her on test and he did well in her, but he does well in everything getting as much praise for carrying games in all the ships he tests to getting salt from ragey assholes.

 

I suppose the obvious question has to be asked, how does she stack up against the Furious?

I wouldn't know, to be honest.... I don't really play (or want to play) CVs. However there's no harm in having a Tier VI Premium to dabble in. It's not taking up space that could be used for something useful.

If she can do well in tier 8 games i would say shes better than furious. And if i can manage 93k and 4 kills in miss ryujo (still not sure how i managed that). She cant be that bad to play her bombers are dive level hybrids and her planes have faster regen.

 

Planes are pretty slow, but that does give you more time to line up shots and slingshot better i would assume.

I rarely take my T6 carriers out tbh, maybe I should do i t more, but then,I rarely take any CV out anymore

About same, but very different. Mind Furious is pretty strong, I did 90k with her in ranked T6.

Ark Royal is not too strong IMO, but kinda meme-worthy. YAaaaaa-maaaa-tooo style.

Damm, she seems pretty gud actually just need to abuse islands more often and plan apporachs further ahead but for a mid tier premium she seems pretty decent.
