Matchmaker Question

Hi, nearly 30 battles in and leveling up to Tier 3 across Cruisers & Destroyers but not BB's yet. I play on the EU server from about 10:30 pm evenings in random battles but always get 1 player v 1 player or sometimes 2 v 2 and all the other ships are bots - is this normal?

You are under beginner protection.

That means the matchmaker tries to match you vs. other beginners.

My guess is there are not many, especially since the protection runs out quickly.

Thanks ColonelPete, do you know when beginner protection runs out? Am just about to get Campaigns and Signals/Camo to come, I think so a bit more bot-bashing for me. Appreciate the reply.

Even once you are out of the beginner protection, at that time of night, on those low tiers, population is fairly low and wait times can then become extensive.

 

Or you get roped into Tier IV matches, which are not joke once you're no longer considered a rookie since Tier IIIs with no AA are of course harvested first by the aircraft carriers.

 

My advice is, as soon as that starts happening, skip Tier III with free XP and start levelling the British BB line. Orion has far and wide the best AA in the low tiers, so carriers who don't know to leave you alone will mostly regret it, as long as those flak guns don't all get knocked out.
