Richelieu. How to?

Any players with a good control of this French BB? I just got it and I have to say it's quite frustrating. It's fast but I am not sure where to go as you get melted immediately. 

Any tips?

If you look at my Richelieu stats they suggest I'm good in it. 

What I did is I use speedboost, charge straight into the cap and select a random enemy BB I try to ram full speed while shooting at everything I encounter on the way. 

 

For some reason typing in all Chat " HERE I COME? ARE YOU READY???!" helps. 

 

Got a good winrate out of that... That's how you play her

It feels like a faster Roma with only front guns.

- don't show your side

- use your superior speed to outflank enemy positions when the time is ripe (spoodbeest helps with that)

- don't feel morally conflicted by using HE on angled targets.

Basically you want to play her like a flanker and ambusher, sure you can bow tank but thats probs the worst thing you can do against HE spammers due to her infamous dispersion, think of her as a weaker jean bart (i have no clue if ricchy gets reload booster). 2nd line support BB, with flanking and ambushing tendencies.

 

Can brawl mid-late game if need be, never do it early game unless you like burning to death and doing sub 25k damage.

 

Like all french ships she gets better as the game progresses.

Thanks. Not many battles so far as I play very early and the MM is crazy, but I had the idea it would be like that, second line, wait, wait, run to weak spots.

It is a really good BB. Dont play it as a stationary bow tanker. Use her speed. Search for broadsides. flank.

Do not, for even a second, think you can bow tank in that thing. It’s burns like a northern Irish bonfire on the 11th of July.

No. You dont want that. But you want ankles.  And you dont get them in a Blob. Flanking dont mean,  to overextend in situations where there is nobody else. Use terrain. Search positions where its possible to disengage or get dark by not shooting.

Im running it full secondary build with IFHE, already anticipating the Alsace. Also helps a lot with pesky DDs or Cruisers in your back as you got no main guns there. So you can basically run away with speed boost and let the secondaries shredd :)

I did the same (full IFHE secondary build), and I had a lot of fun with Riche and Alsace. On Repu I switched to tank build (and a more defensive playstyle).

Speed boost to a flank. Stay with other teammates. Punish broadsiding scrubs and burn bow tanking ships. 

 

P. S. Do not bother with Secondaries build - spec for artillery and survivability.

Richelieu has been good to me. To point out the obvious, all guns are in front, so keep your nose towards the enemy. In addition, it's very fast with speed boost, and these two together really dictate the playstyle.

• If you end up in a bow-tanking contest, the HE is very good. The AA is very good for tier 8, so it's not awfully vulnerable to aircraft either even when very stationary.
• You can use the superb speed to get into advantageous positions and dump AP into unsuspecting broadsides. I would definitely get the Engine Boost Modification from Armory.
• Secondaries are mostly in the rear and really not worth investing into. This is a tricky choice if you're planning to move the skipper to Alsace, which is a wonderful secondary brawler. Tanking build is much better for Richelieu, and the same skipper also works wonderfully for premiums Dunkerque and Jean Bart.
• The most Richelieu thing you can do is full reverse with speed boost on, and fire HE. You hear a lot of French jokes when you do that.

Create corridors so the enemy team can only shoot your bow, and your sides/rear are covered with someting. Try to stay 8-12km away from the caps/flanks so you can shoot DDs and  the like.
