It's been a while I've played mine, but I thought it just exchanges it for a T2 cruiser or T3 battleship most of the times. But like I said, it has been a while, so could be that it got changed.

MM tries to mirror Mikasas. If it cannot do so within the time reserved for strict mirror matchmaking, it will draw upon T2 cruisers or T3 BBs, if it is a T2-3 match. Obviously, because it is not uncommon to end up as the only BB in a match, it has opportunities to be incredibly OP or incredibly crap, depending on what MM and RNG want you to be.

True, Cruisers are not that clear cut (neither are DDs, as i only have Benham and it feels weaker than others).

Alaska / Kronshtadt arent bad, but they are not like normal Cruiser.

True... on T7, i have a lot of ships, but if i pick a BB now its either Nelson or Lyon. I think, Lyon is the only silver one which performance on par. Not sure about Sinop, ive had some very weird dispersion the few games i played it.

Nelson is my one and only true fxp ship, the oher came from Christmas crackers, yet more were paid for

In all honesty i am always broke so im kinda forced to play my premiums to keep my silver up. Either im not making enough credits from my tech tree ships or im just grinding them to fast.

I have all five and hardly play any of them , maybe the Nelson a wee bit. But I do know if I had missed one there would be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth, but that's just being human.No interest whatsoever for the latest phew phew incarnations.

I have Nelson, Musashi and Kronstadt. I play Nelson and Musashi quite a lot in randoms and ranked and Kronstadt mostly in ranked as I feel Musashi is the stronger tier 9 in randoms. I have also USS Black so I have high tier premiums in BB, CA and DD. All those tier 9 make good credits even without premium so I am set to not have any credit issues anymore as an mostly free to play player.

 

However as DFens666 pointed out you can only play one ship at a time so why get more? I am currently sitting on 1.1million free XP and have not purchased Alaska or Azuma or Friesland. Why? Because why would I? As said above I already got three powerful premiums from all the ship classes I play. I got Kronstadt so I really don´t need Alaska to do supercruiser things. I got Zao with permacamo that I can do Azuma things with and probably better too.  Friesland could be tempting but a DD for only spamming with guns day-in-day-out.. I don´t think so.

 

Perhaps it could be fun to have lower tier (5-7) free xp ships for me to purchase. But there are none. I have no idea why that is because I kinda need a free XP sink soon or maybe it´s time to start using that free XP for something that it was meant to be used in the first place i.e. helping stock grinds.
