Why use the Priority Target skill?

Hello fellow Captains! :fish_book:

I just wanted to pop a question which has been on my mind recently, why use the commander skill priority target?

I've always seen it on the recommended commander skills, on ship armadas and wiki that its an extremely useful skill...

But I don't know how seeing the amount of people aiming at you can be useful other than the fact you need to back away when you see you're being focused.

That skill only gives you a few seconds extra to get out of a place you probably are about to be focused in.

Does it do anything else like actually prioritize the most dangerous ship?

Cheers!

  • Depending on range, that is a 10s+ warning
  • some ships can take fire, no ship can take A LOT of fire, therefore it is good to know how many ships are targeting you
  • using all guns maximizes your firepower, but makes you vulnerable, the target marker tells you when to angle more
  • when the number goes down by one and then goes up by one a short time later, it can be a hint that a DD launched torps at you
  • Cool 1

Alright, imagine you're a drawn out duel, rather isolated, with one or two spotted enemies.
Suddenly, your counter jumps by one.
Chances are, there's a destroyer around, and you have to start thinking of aggressively changing your course to avoid torpedoes.

Seeing how many ships are locked on to you gives you valuable information as to the whereabouts of ships that aren't spotted, and if you're in more danger that what's currently visible.

This is main reason I use it on for example battle ships and cruisers, is it worth opening up and show my side or not.

On destroyers I use it for deciding if I shall pop the smoke or not.

Well, sometimes you can sit quite exposed in lets say, a cruiser and farm some damage. But once counter jumps up, you know ez time is over. Same with late game duels. Also when someone switches to torps and then to guns, you see counter going down and up.
