Not participating in this event, WG can fork themselves with their time-limited crap and currencies. Living in Belgium and thus having a sanitised WG client that doesn't show the "surprise mechanic boxes" REALLY shows how crap and ridiculous those events are at/in its core. 

 

If such a thing requires regular/daily attendance and is designed to be tailor-made so the maximum reward coincides with the maximum you can earn (or not even that), then it's not an "event", but an ordinary grind and an abusive method to attempt to drill a hole in our wallet by offering a bypass in the form of lootcrates.

 

Or in case of WG: they're just offering themed lootcrates for sale as the primary goal, and then build a small themed framework around it to obscure the fact that it's not about the event, but about the crates.

Hm, I think I can get the French guy for free... Will do all directives except for the French DD part... But then I got +120 tokens from the PTS container.... I do not consider top 25% any challange... And for top 10% I will just need to stop grinding lines and play t9-10...

 

...but I wonder should I buy the Frenchman or get the doubloons. 

 

If I knew his future price or at least currency that would made my decision easier...

Almost everything is buyable for coal or another kind of crap soon or later. Thats my experience. Mostly it can be totaly free stuff.

I don't. I haven't change my daily habits nor I've spent doubloons on that event. I just play as usual - getting the 3 crates + doing the daily missions... And that's all. 

 

It might be an issue for the players with small ports and few classes, but I am Jack of all trades with 150 ships in port.

Gonna be getting camo's myself. Signals you can get for credits, not going to have enough for the captain and I've got 30,000,000 credits and 15,000 doubloons going nowhere fast. That makes camo's the only thing I'm going to have use for once I start making a push up another tech tree line.

So you need top 25%. Should be easy spam some high tier battles. 

 

I am currently in top 5% with 4k+ not sure if I can keep it during the week.

Did get the French commander, bought 3 containers for doubloons which I already had to get the needed tokens. So I don't have to depend on the hall of fame thingy. Those tokens that might be earned there will be used on either premium time or doubloons.

I've spent hours and hours and hours grinding and got enough tokens for 1000 doubloons.

 

The value of this "reward" is less than 30 minutes work at the UK National Minimum Wage (£8.21 for those 25 and over)

 

Next time that I need doubloons I think that I'll just come out of retirement and get a job for a few hours!
