I liked the Colorado back then, have fond memories blapping citadel's like a Mofo. But I'm sure I wouldn't want to sail her again in the current state of the game....

The current (HE-spam) state of the game is why I DO NOT LET Colorado out in anything but Operations...

So I have this turd of a ship, semi-upgraded (I need to unlock range)... I run artillery plotting room to bump range up and priority target/incoming fire alert/expert marksman/superintendent on the captain (planning to get concealment or BFT/AFT next. Which one?). Planning to not unlock range because even with a perfect aim, most of the time nothing happens because either the salvo just doesn't hit (cause you know, nerfing sigma is a great idea) or whatever hits shatters on battleships and overpenetrates on cruisers. And seeing how bad the dispersion becomes once I unlock range, I don't think I'll use it.

Seriously, MM? You think that a ship which can barely move is going to be balanced and work well fighting Tier 9 ships, the slowest of which outrun it by at least 8 knots. The armor isn't there, 343mm only exists on the very lowest part of the hull, near the waterline, everything else is 25mm which means everything that isn't a king george firing AP or scharnhorst rapes you. HE also rapes you. Range can be better than Nagato's if you spec for it but what do you need it for when you can't hit at 10 kilometers.

I tried sniping unaware ships, so at least I am not cannon fodder to anything that's too close to me. Got the middle finger and my salvo said it should shatter or miss entirely, alert the ship I am firing at, make it change its direction and do nothing. Brawling with ships that can ignore the armor everything except your tiny belt and turrets simply isn't an option, especially with that speed. Against tier 5's i feel it does at least a bit better because they have even less armor, but it's still not good. I've had like 2 or 3 decent games because luck, but.

For me, this is a bit like a prolonged M3 Lee grind. At least the Lee had decent speed and gun. I'm not sure what to do with the colorado when free XP is not an option.

I'm sorry for laughing at you, as I really believe you have some good point here :Smile_great:

I used FXP for the M3 Lee and went straight for the Sherman :Smile-_tongue:

Btw, you could still grind Cololrado :Smile-_tongue::crab:in narai if you hate it so much. Or just FXP it :cap_book:even though I would recommend that you don't.

WoWS has a lot of option to boost your XP income as it is, in contrary to World of Tears :fish_glass:where there's a lot more :cap_money:2:Smile_medal: happenin.

Colorado was my first T7 ship, so I have good memories of her. And some bad too, like grinding the A hull in tier 8 battles against the then-new Tirpitz.

Before getting to North Carolina the german BB line appeared and I remember the horror of facing Gneisenaus ,ships that I could neither outrun nor seriously hurt bow on.

All in all, I enjoyed the ship and I kept it. Accuracy wise she felt like an improvement over New Mexico, and landing a couple of citadels in a salvo (not uncommon) was highly satisfying. Its strong AA was a real deterrent for carriers back in the day when aircraft were a finite resource.

However, with a 11pt captain nowadays I don't take it to battle too often in the current meta. I do feel that she'd been powercrept by newer and mostly never-built ships like Kii, Sinop, Lyon.

Not to mention T8 and T9 IJN gunboat DDs which can melt you down from smoke before you can turn and run.

Everything on that turd can be worked around... But 18.3/21 knots... In tier 9 battles when facing Jean Bart and Georgia...

P. S. Save your sanity... Skip it!

I grind Colorado back on the old days, all full painfully way, no FXP skip, (3 years ago) and I still wear the scars... But you know the old say, what won't kill you, will make you stronger :Smile_veryhappy:

I do the same re-grind now, with a much better ship. So, I can't complain. Hell, play hard in Op.s 1 week and is over, you get the nice NC.
