Torpedo Bombers fly under the Flak.

Rocket planes are immune during attack run.

This is a fairly common misconception.

Flak during attack runs target the reserve planes which fly above attacking ones. Only once they're dead will flak start targeting the attacking wing.

Still means flak is easily dodged and as such Atlanta does not do anything useful to deter strikes on both itself and allies. She is in fact one of the best targets, presenting a fairly big hit area with low AA and low HP pool.

At least you take significantly less damage in attack mode.

If it is not some kind of immunity, it is a multiplier decreasing the AA damage.

Nah, not really. Flak deals normal damage to reserves. Damage reduction only applies to the attacking wing.

Since the damage is not shared in the whole squadron anymore, that just means it is advantageous to drop planes before attack now.

Well, yes, but that depends on your target as well as your own squad.

E.g. you'll practically never get more than two attacks with Midway DBs, as such you need two attack wings and a buffer. This means you can pretty much always shorten a Midway 12 DB squad once without impairing your actual damage potential.

Enterprise meanwhile can get 3 attacks off against most DDs so flying around with the full 12 set makes more sense. (Not that she cares about losses ofc.)

It's all about knowing how many attacks you get against what targets and adjusting accordingly.

Hello

I've bought the Atlanta yesterday and after some coop battles i took it into random today.

I got 3 Cv's battles out of 5 and the last one was kinda hilarious, the Shokaku player called my brand new ship a S**tlanta just after his whole rocket squadron got whipped out over me.

He was realy upset and tried 2  DB's attacks and send one more rocket squadron .....he didn't turned out well for him and while he was focusing me i did my job againts DD's , 27 planes killed with 2 DefAA usage and for the rest i used the new priority sectors.

Atlanta AA don't feel godlike to me but more than enough to protect myself.

It's a very fun ship both in coop or PvP and i don't regret my purchase, i hesitated alot before pulling the trigger on that one.

Great ship !
