Back in April I did a post on this topic and now I feel that it's time to see what has happened to my "feelings". First part here: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/117290-my-feelings-about-the-game/

In the last year or so there has been three big things that at least I felt changed the game, or should have, or will.

1: CV-rework.

2: NTC/RB.

3: Subs.

CV-rework.

For me this has been a "Back to Square one" ride. I don't play CVs so the only things that changed is how the planes attack and which buttons I press to counter them. Everything else stays mostly the same. So "anti-climax" is a good word to explain how I feel on that. Not that it matters. I didn't have any problem playing the "old game" either.

NTC/RB.

I have grinded out 21 lines of ships and I have about 200k XP on the Mogador as I write this so I qualify for the RB, but I'm not interested. I see no reason to "re-do" half the game just to get reward-ships that is almost the same as some of the ships that I already have. As far as I'm concerned, the RB might as well not be in the game. Waste of resources as far as I'm concerned.

So in my book, the last year didn't really change anything. New ships were released. New maps were released and some missions and events happened. No biggie. I didn't need more. I'm fine with that.

It's what's comming that brings doubt.

Submarines.

Now this is not about the pros and cons of putting subs in the game. It's about how I feel about it and how it affects my plans for the game.

In short: I don't like it. That's it. That's my opinion. Don't need to hear what you all think. That's not why I wrote this. No need to go down that road. Thank you!

But it has the effect that I now see very little for me in the future of this game. I start to think like this:

"What game should I play in the future?"

"How much money should I spend at a game that I'll stop playing?"

"How long before I "have to leave"?"

"Perhaps I should leave now instead of "wasting time and money" on a "dead end"?"

"Now there's even less reason to do the RB if I'm not gonna play for much longer."

Then I turn on the reasoning part of my brain and go like this.

"Wait and see. It might turn out different."

But the feeling still lingers and I'm going to be very cautious about what's to come since I don't want to "hit the wall at full speed" if things go "the wrong way". "Wait and see" also means "Do not commit to anything!"

That's how I feel. WoWs has had my full attention for close to four years but now I start to think about my life "post-WoWs".

Now I'm going to react to some of your comments on this and since the system lacks a bit in diversity and I've been asked in the past "Why did you vote like that on my comment?" I'm going to explain what I mean with each of the options.

"Good" = I agree in what you say or find the way you express your disagreement mature and fair.

"Funny" = You made a joke that I found funny. If it wasn't a joke, sorry but I thought it was. (Sarcasm works bad in text.)

"Boring"= Off topic or missing the point.

"Bad" = I disagree or dislike the tone or language you use.

"Angry"= I never use this because if your comment makes me angry there's usually some violation of the forum rules so I'll just report instead.

Again, this is about how we feel about the direction the game is taking. Express mature emotions and nothing else please.

Obviously I've played significantly less than OP. Only joined 2 years ago and have had some fairly significant periods of inactivity for various reasons. But this reflects some thoughts I'm having atm. I don't like the suggested implementation of subs in the slightest, but at the same time there's a lot of content in this game I'd quite like to explore and, even with the impending submageddon, I don't see any games that can attract me more atm. (Recommendations welcome). Worst case scenario, I'll basically stop playing and spend more time playing bass and reading books instead :Smile_bajan2::fish_book: But hey, hoping it'll be a while before true anhedonia (great word, thanks) sets in. The core gameplay is a lot of fun, and even if subs are (almost certainly) a negative addition, I'm holding out hope that it won't be so negative to fully kill off the fun I'm having in the short term.

Great Word! I'll trade it for anhedonia.

But many players demanded an endgame. Also played for almost 4 years. And I played a lot 1st two years. Subs can go either way, they be put into some mode only. So it’s too fast to say for sure that they’ll destroy the balance. Wait till the end of the year when everything is clarified, but if you feel you need to leave, no one can hold you here mate. BTW I’m still here because of my friends and Warships passion. I’m not pro WG cause they don’t do always good things.

How is it an "Endgame"? It's just "do the same thing again and again". A game like this shouldn't have an "End".

It’s not an end. It’s more a thing for bored players. Also it’s helping the T8s so it’ll be less T10s on queue .

So why not put those rescorces into more Scenarios that can be "used" by more than just those bored players?

Maybe they’re doing it now with the subs. Convoys etc.

the second reason is bad T8 premiums selling.

I still enjoy the game but I play in divisions with friends and found a great relaxed clan. I play solo in down time so I’m not fatigued. Even after nearly 4 years.

The power-creep and the massive flood of high tier premium ships is getting to me.

The mostly imaginary line of soviet battleships has been in this game for 4 months now. Ridiculous guns and armor, no balancing in 4 months?! What I have read about clanwars/battles a russian BB is a must. Funny how they nerfed the flooding mechanic and why IFHE is now the next item on the cutting board.

French DDs... With the price of slightly awkward concealment and no-smoke you get:

- huge hp pool

- fastest ships in game

- wrecking or outright sinking any DD you run across with the amount of guns and gimmicks you have

- better torpedo damage than russian or japan (better range than russian, but still with in range you can stealth torp.)

- faster torpedoes than others. sometimes even +10kts

- torpedo reload that makes the germans flush

- torpedo launchers on each side so you can almost drops fishes into water non-stop

Smolensk, Colbert, Slava (oh yeah! it WILL come into game sooner or later) ships that CCs have warned not to release because of how broken they are.

Somers, Benhams, more multi launcher DDs with fast reload...why not just re-release the Kitakami? cant get any more worse.

Odin, Siegfried, Azuma, Yoshino, Georgia, Ohio... the list goes on why this massive flood of imaginary ships!?

8 months with the same 4 Operations, and now we get 1 old back.....YEY!

@Hanse77SWE are you a gamer or a player that is interested in the subject? Personally I am a hardcore player in the subject. i have spent maybe 5-6000 hours in 4 years despite being more occupied with work the last 2 years, the first 2 not so much sadly.

But I am a naval buff with many books, and lots of naval kits so this game regardless of its faults have too much to offer. I played Master of Orion , the first release for 20 years because I liked the subject (space , 4 X)  strategy that did not last forever.

Now I do agree that games have its attention span but I do not have a fixed date myself, as long as the game provides decent entertainment I will continue play - at least as long as no replacement game of better quality is coming which must be very good considering the  shipmodels etc the OKish nature of how the game works it has flaws but for most of the time I am pleased.

My 4 year experience:

+a game that is less reliable on fast reflexes and need some thought beforehand

+vast assortment of ship models

+ some event modes fun and worthy of implementation in random battles

+ promising intro of scenarios

+variety (albeit gimicky) gameplay for the different navies

+ forum that provides knowledge

+lots of youtube material/guides

+plenty of ships not yet released can give more ships to long for, several smaller navies and tech tree splits are left

+/--NTC could have been better implemented, however some form of regrinding incentive is in principle positive

+/- lots of shipreleases but the backlog is huge and I think there is too many paperships

+/- Low/mid tier scenarios wanted and several of the best scenarios (Hermes Cheery Blossom) have not returned yet

- introduction of vast number of ships behind different currencies makes planning difficult

- Loot boxes that have no warranty or chance values

- Although quality of camos have gone up prizes have too

- no "cart system in shop"

-It has been a huge number of grindy campaigns with finite time which makes it impossible for normal players to get the rewards,

even if I myself has managed them it is easy to get burned out

As a collector I feel that I must have nearly everything

+/- Submarines - depends on how they are implemented

+/- Carrier rework - do not play it much whether it was before or after - it is no game decider for me

Regarding your Nick. I am also from Sweden and I really long for some even if it is only a few Swedish ships it will prolong my interest in the game a lot

Play games but history brought me here. Spent about 30 years reading about war in all shapes and sizes. History, strategy, tactics, logistics, weapons, the whole lot.

If you like to read books on the subject then I can recommend www.smb.nu (if you're not already a member).

I was membert there some years but I wanted more books for the real specialist. So I buy mostly on Amazon and other sources + 2nd hand, even have books in Japanese for the photos/illustrations and plans of IJN ships.

I have all Warship Yearbooks from 1989 onwards, Warship 49 magazines, Many of the early Warships in profile + several refernce books by Jordan, Burt Friedman etc on most of the large navies. i am lacking in italian and Dutch navies even if many articles are included in those books + I have printed out articles from Kaigun f.e. as IJN is my favourite navy and you never know if such webmaterial disappears.

I have as you several hundred books and have to give away books to give place to more wanted material.

Feel free to post me a PM if you wish to have mail contact.

So they have taken how long to address the reason that most people just ignored the T8 premiums - the matchmaking (i.e. mostly seeing T10s)?  They could have introduced more operations for T8 (Narai in particular is great for T7s!) but didn't.  Cherry Blossom was a good start but restricted to allied cruiser only.

Just like in Destiny, the best part of the game were the raids, the best bit about WoWs for many people like myself is being able to play Operations in a larger division than just 3.  It'd be nice to have some T5, T8, T9 and later, T10 operations (even if the T10 ones aren't on the weekly rota)

As long as the rewards are commensurate to the time taken to complete and the skill required.  Cherry Blossom was a good start in that direction, a multi-stage operation.  Anything longer and you'd need "checkpoints" with respawning of your "dead" ships/option to choose new ship.
