Right now I'm not very interested in Okt Rev since it's just a premium Gangut (I think) I wouldn't go all-out to get Aigle (for reasons already outlined), but she is fun with a decent captain; if you get to December and find you have enough coal to get her, but not one of the higher tier ships, and the voucher is about to re-set, then you might as well pick her up. Also, by then you should have a better handle on how fast you'll tend to accumulate coal and if steel is viable as a resource to chase seriously; that'll help you decide how important it is to use the voucher before it expires, and what to use it on. Okt. Rev. *is* Gangut, but after a refit and a tier higher; the silver Gangut in the game is an earlier incarnation of the ship. I quite like having her in my port as she's about the only properly historical Russian BB in the game (reminds me - I really should get the silver version at some point too); I'm not a rabid BB enthusiast though, so don't play her that much.
[TEC] The_Gathering Beta Tester 226 posts Report post #27 Posted August 19, 2019 Do not waste coal on something like the Aigle. Save up for the Jean Bart instead, it is ten times the fun to play.
[WITCH] natswright Players 139 posts 5,717 battles Report post #28 Posted August 20, 2019 Actually, the Aigle is not that bad for Coal, she is an ok Gunboat with decent torpedo's that do a lot of damage. She has smoke too. She is quite big, but I dont know why so many people say she's a bad ship. As a free premium, shes ok and with a 10 point captain, concealment is manageable. Just dont go rushing into a cap as many DD's at that tier will have better concealment.
[PRS] The_Pillager Beta Tester 2,526 posts 15,601 battles Report post #29 Posted August 21, 2019 If I may put a word in here ... I am still a senpai to my daughter and had quite a few of these moments the last months. I dont even argue about a T9 coal frremium ... this cannot be a serious thought at this point. I would not suggest a T6 DD like Aigle at this point for a beginner, either, even when his stats are promising and it fits his projected grind. Jumping into a T8 match - and he will definitely have T8 matches regularly - with some 150 battles experience will be not very motivating, especially when the captain is not skilled. Aigle needs at least a 10 skill captain to have the slightest chances. I dont even bother to point out the radarships at this level, the hydro and so on. No really, i would not advise anybody to get a T6 DD with so few battles played. A T5 battleship is a little bit different. Of course it will be frustrating getting deleted from the T7 ships, but T5 BB are kind of more solid. Long story short: get Aigle maybe, if DD is the preferred shiptype, but not before reaching T6 in common and not before having a 10 skill captain in port. The question was safing up for a IX one right? By the time you get about 180k coal for one you should have some experience
Daniel051004 Players 13 posts 1,689 battles Report post #31 Posted August 24, 2019 well, I dont know how much coal you have, but I can reccomend (if you do not have it) a tier III DD Campelltown, its quite cheap and fun to play, unfortunately, it is not useful for completing missions as most are tier V above
Daniel051004 Players 13 posts 1,689 battles Report post #32 Posted August 24, 2019 V 18. 8. 2019 v 11:05 BattleshipGunner řekl/a: Campbeltown, I don't think this ship would be enjoyable to play with only one set of torpedo tubes per side. it is, as one your torp sinks any DD you met and it has american smoke in general a dev strike printer, its only drawbacks are weak gunnery and quite bad concealment ( which is however compensated by that american long-lasting smoke) also it has very long reach on its torps on her tier...
