WoWS keeps crashing

Hi all,

Love the game but it keeps crashing. It does not say why, it it gives this generic error report, attached.

I've tried different installers, the problem remain. Sometimes the game crashes immediately when I enter the screen where I can press the 'Battle' button, sometimes I get to play a battle or even two. After which it crashes.

I really wanna play this game, and I've spent quite a few days now trying to get it to work. I am not a beginner with PC's, everything else on my PC runs fine. But I am stumped. Would like some advice.

PS: the Reports folder the error message refers to is empty. The link leads to the Wargaming website that has some generic unhelpful hints on it.

Hiya,

contact support here and send them a crash log and hopefully they'll get through to you. If an integrity check and re-installing the game doesn't do it, generally that would indicate a problem on your side. Your PC appears relatively old to me but here are a few simple things you can try:

  1. Check drivers are up to date
  2. Ensure WorldofWarships is allowed through your firewall and any anti-virus software
  3. Try running WoWS through the game files by right-clicking on the executable and running as an administrator

I've installed it 3x so far. Are you saying I should keep installing and trying until the game is stable?

If 3 times reinstall that's a very weird thing.

First from the EU website. Then from the old installer, which seems to work for a lot of people, but not for me. Then back to the current installer.

System and PC spec?

I'll get back to you on that. I've recently had Windows 10 installed and it does not report my GPU correctly. I would assume that to be the cause, except every other game I play works fine. But I do need to find out what's wrong there too.

I am running on 9y old set and I just upgraded GPU.

8 Gb RAM work fine for me and I run WoWs on medium/high settings.

Download CPU-Z and paste your PC spec.

Here's the specs (file attached). The one thing that is wrong is that it only detects one graphics card, and that is because Windows 10 (recently installed) does not support the dual graphics card option on my laptop. I think I need new drivers from the laptop vendor.

But I don't think it's what's causing the crashing with WoWS. On the rare occasions that it plays, it plays well. The few battles I fought I all fought to completion, and it only crashed once I returned to port.

Yesterday I couldn't even start the game, it was giving the same 'critical error'.

The "Check & Repair" option fixed it.

You might wanna try that first as it's easier and faster than reinstalling the whole game.

But since you did reinstall it so many times already I'm afraid it has something to do with your PC. I'd say probably some outdated drivers...

Check and repair... I think that's from the game launcher right? Can I install that separately? LOL.

Well, I understood that you have no problem launching the game, right?

Are you playing any other games on that PC? No issues at all?

I use the WoWS launcher. not the Wargaming launcher. But I'm already reinstalling, so I can use that option. I'll report back later.

I don't even know what's the difference. I have WoWs only and this is my main screen when I launch the game or actually the launcher in order to launch the game itself.

Under 'Game Options' I have the mentioned 'Check and Repair'.

Well, that's too bad but it's definitely your PC causing the issue.

The only strange thing I find is that it's not crashing to the point that you can't even run the game but instead sometimes you play a battle or two and then it crashes.

If it's a graphic card or display drivers... just try running everything on the lowest setting possible. Not that you'll enjoy playing at such settings but just to see if you get the same results.

Well I've read a lot of other WoWs players complain of very similar issues. And my PC handles everything else I play just fine. So it's not (just) my PC. Oh well. We'll keep looking. The game seems worth it.

Thx for this. The first two point I had already checked. I will try #3 and report back.

TBH as mentioned above it sounds like a GPU issue .

Now im not been  a smart arse but have you ever cleaned out your pc ? as in blown the dust from your cpu and gpu and in general the whole pc.

also try doing a defrag on the system

allso try clean your system cache (easy way unpulg power till the power unit light goes out then plug back in )

Question about your 3 attempts at uninstalling the game did you just use the standard windows uninstall of the game ?Or did you use a program like iobit uninstaller .

manual uninstall will leave a lot of stuff in your drive and in registry, so when you try install again same stuff is still there.

One question has not been asked, like most PC,s have you 1 hard drive or got like , a SATA and SSd drive ?

Wargaming.net Game Center gives WGCHECK

It's not the heat. It doesn't get all that hot, other games tax it more I have a 500MB SSD.

Have you sent a ticket to the support? If you do so, explain them everythign, what you already tested to make it easier to figure out, what it could be

like a check list

-New driver

-Reinstall the game

-Restart the system

-etc

Makes it easier for the support

I never had any problems with WOWs. As soon as I upgraded to win10 the game started crashing (along with everything else on the computer). Gotta love that Microsoft forces you to use their product, which breaks everything on a perfectly good system.

Clean driver update/reinstall would be worth a try. Or install it on the HDD instead of the SSD, if you've got one.

And is your laptop clean (no dust inside) and not running hot?
