Hello once again everyone,

I managed to get my hands on the premium tier 5 French Destroyer Siroco and this ship is feels insanely strong. In just my 5th game I set my all time damage record for tier 5 ships.
Siroco is a ton of fun and can be picked up for free by completing all 4 directives in the current French destroyer event. Let me know what you think in the comments and until the next time keep sailing it like you stole it o7

I'm sorry to see that the French destroyer got bad.
Bad camo, bad torpedo range, no smoke, what more ?? it's not a destroyer but a crap.
Hope buff !!
And sorry for the obscene speech!
But this cannot be described

I guess Russian destroyers are "absolutely unplayable" for you with 4km torps of theirs:cap_tea:

Thank you for your video. I enjoyed your comments and I find you pleasant to listen to in general!  :Smile_honoring:

I will not be getting the Siroco, because (Surprise! Surprise!) I have real life commitments in August (which are far more pleasant to be honest)

However I do have the Jaguar, which I won in a container.. I played 10 c-oop games to complete the mission that came with it (win 250 Republic Tokens).

To me, this ship/line falls into the category of "Maybe good in Randoms, but certainly not in PvE".

Reasons for those bored enough to wonder what I mean

Spoiler

1) Bots always drip-drip-drip hits on you to whittle you down, despite any dodging that you do
2) Bots like to make a killing DDs a priority. With the Jaguar they take this to new levels of extremes
3) The long-range sniper style may be recommended by WG:( "High speeds and effective weapons enable these ships to support their allies from afar."
https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/french-destroyers-the-full-guide/) But I find the shells far too floaty except when firing at BBs.

And of course remember the four major cheats that the bots use against DDs
1) They know where you are at all times
2) They know the second that torpedoes are launched in their direction, and react immediately. YOLO is the rulein coop to get hits.
3) Battleships always have HE loaded to use on DD's because it is more effective. I have posted before about this.
4) [Semi-cheat] They use the Borg hive mentality to sacrifice a ship in order to get you spotted (even when you have smoke)

The French cruiser and battleship lines are nice. My views on the destroyers are unprintable.
Still, as Meat Loaf said, "Two out of three ain't bad". :Smile_teethhappy:

@Admiral_H_Nelson It's good to be out enjoying the weather so good on you. The grind for this ship isn't actually that bad but when it comes down to your main talking point about the Siroco not being good for PVE I think I would have to agree with you. It is however a ton of fun in randoms. I had a chance earlier to play around with the Mogador and it really feels powerful, faster torps, faster shell speeds and just faster faster faster in general.

My primary issue with Siroco is existence of Aigle, if one is in need of lowtier Croissant DD and she's able of PvE Operations. And you can pick her up for "free" with coal

@Panocek
I'm not saying run out and buy it but for any that don't have the Aigle it's worth doing the directives and picking it up for free. Free premiums are virtually always worth it and can be a real building block for newer players earning credits xp etc and nice for retraining French captains. It's a fun little ship.

I've noticed very much the same things as Admiral Nelson up there in Coop. And frankly I don't see how it would get better in Randoms (setting aside the fact bots aim better then most players and use the correct ammo more often).

What particularly annoys me about Siroco are the very bad firing angles of the guns, both forward and rear. You only have 4 guns with long reload and you can only shoot all of them when you sail broadside. That is just terrible for a ship that cannot make a smoke to sit in and gunboat more or less safely.

It seems these DDs are extremely reliant on the enemy team being bad, ignoring you and not being able to hit you (and/or mismanaging Damage Control on fires). Best bet is to pepper any enemy from as far as possible with HE and try to set fires. Bad luck if you are in a Domination battle and are supposed to spot and cap...

EDIT: Yeah, took the Siroco out for 3 random battles, still find it extremely useless. Out of the 3 battles, twice I ended with about 10k DMG dead, because the enemy was shooting back. My stats only end up silly because the third battle, all enemy BBs decided to sail one by one around the island they knew I was hiding behind. And well, the torps are decent enough to delete BBs sailing in straight lines. Still almost died from the random last second salvo and secondaries...

Basically do not try to use the guns on the Siroco, only do so when you have no chance of getting unspotted and have no torps to launch. You have no chance to hit really and even if so, you'll do nothing to anything short of a low tier DD.

That's not actually the true way to play the french dds. They are pure Skirmish fighters. They are also excellent when fitted for firing at range. Slip in and out of concealment between 2-3 volleys or however many you think you can get a away with. I tend to find that the Incoming fire alert helps mitigate the incoming fire a good deal when combined with maneuvering.  Its usually better to shoot from 14km than 7km if you can help it (though when spotted by another dd, use your gun reload booster to make short work of killing your spotter, as soon as they are dead, you get concealment back.) So consider gun range skills and mods. Spread your volleys around several targets, with the goal being to start a fire on multiple ships, let that damage stack up. Torps are useful vs dds if contesting caps and close range island ambushes, but really not that viable otherwise unless on a suicide run on a ship that is determined to close the distance quickly to you.

In that case why not play Soviet DDs in the first place ?

My point is mainly that you're forgoing a lot of their strengths by mostly focusing on long-range gameplay if i read you right.
