launcher crash when downloading todays patch

HI All,  I need some help here, tried submitting a ticket but thats taking ages, was playing game earlier today and everything was fine. had to go out so shut computer down. when i came back and launched game it started to load an update patch but crashes with the message;-

 

Critical error. Unable to update the launcher file. The application cannot continue. For details, see log file

 

Anyone else having this problem or do you know the solution, help would be appreciated.

 

I also had same problem on Tanks and did full uninstall of the game and it wont let me reinstall, so i dont realy want to try the uninstall route.

 

I am using windows 8.1 and have not changed anything today so im at a loss.

I have exactly the same problem, tried all the usual fixes (Av on/off computer on/off, uninstalling + reinstalling, re downloading the install file etc etc etc).

I have the exact same problem. The launcher cog/gear around the logo turns for 2-4seconds. Then freezes.

 

After that "Critical Error". I have had the same issue in world of warplanes, reinstalled the game, and that helped.

Tried the same with warships, but didnt work here. Meh!

 

I hope some IT guru works out some solution.

This happened in WOT too and by changing the version number of the lancher in the WoTlauncher CFg file this resolved it. Unfortunately I don't know what the WOWs version should be so I can't try it again. I suspect its the same issue as its effectively the same launcher. 

 

*edit* look in the WOWs launcher text document and if you see something like:

Bump on this topic. Issue for some players, I did a ticket, but have not heard anything yet.

 

If anyone got an idea, what the issue is. Would be much appreciated. Want to shoot some ships =)

Thank you for contacting us regarding your issue installing this update.

It seems that your game might have downloaded some corrupted information and I would therefore like to ask you to force the update to start again from scratch.

To do this, please empty your "Updates" folder, which you can find in your main game folder.

Once this is done, please run the launcher again and it should hopefully manage to download the game properly.

Having said this, if you still get the same error, the log file that we would need you to send us in order to see the error is the one named "WOWsLauncher.log", although you might not see the extension, depending on your Windows settings.

I hope this solution works for you and that you get to continue enjoying the testing as much as possible.

If any other questions or issues arise, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

I tried deleting the Updates folder, but to no avail. Still same issue when I start the launcher.

 

I hope the rest of you have better luck =)

 

I have replied that it did not help with the issue, and is awaiting more assistance.

well got the same info from a ticket i submitted empty your "Updates" folder, done no change run the launcher again same, no change, re downloaded game, no change mmmm wipe the whole game from PC start again , no change at all now it wont even load the game to restart at level 1 from fresh  welll and truelly stuffed i loved them little captains too at level 6 they kicked bottom so i cant even start at the bottom now until when i have no idea

I got this problem as well and have had for several days. Technical support hasn't really helped. It seems to be problem they got with all their launchers, I even got it on WoT along with many others. They should really look in to this.

It didn't really seem to help or maybe I just don't understand it and do something wrong.

1. Restart your computer in safe mode with networking.

2. Run the launcher and wait for the torrent to start downloading.

3. Quit the launcher and restart your computer normally

4. Profit

For my launcher crashes from first day on, I'd deactivated torrents and it works fine. Haven't tried the latest patch.

I can confirm this work for me. =)

 

Just go to start --> Search for "MSconfig" --> Hit enter --> Go to the "boot" tab, and check "safe/secure start with network". And restart your PC. 

When PC is rebooted it should be a black background, with white text at edges.

Just run the launcher, and it will update. 

 

At least it did for me.

Worked for my after a clean install, thank you very much MaGinty.

 

I have disabled torrents now from the luncher and hoping that helps when it comes to the next patch.
