"When the fighter consumable is activated, an additional aircraft is launched."

So in a nutshell does this apply to both manually deployed Patrol Fighters that are deployed when flying aircraft and the automatically deployed fighters that defend your carrier from air threats?

The automatic Fighter consumable that locally protects the CV summons 1 additional aircraft. The manual Patrol Fighter consumable is unchanged.

In that case it doesn't seem worth an investment :/

It was more you're often expected to drop patrol fighters over battle groups that are about to be intercepted with enemy aircraft but sometimes you're arriving late or at the same time and essentially who ever deploys their patrol circle first wins because 3 identical fighters on 3 identical fighters. I was thinking if I had 4 vs 3 it would always be a victory regardless as most people would just be using the base 3. If it only applies to CV immediate defense though it's kinda negligible :/
