No.

Submarines (or for the most part of time period this game covers: submersibles) were commerce raiders whose entire strategy was to engage supply routes and disrupt mercantile shipping. Intelligence gathering and covert sea rescue were next down the line in how those ships were employed at scale. They only engaged proper warships in rare opportune moments (i.e.: any time they don't comprimise their actual mission AND can get away before getting smothered in depth charges). Subs weren't specifically employed to directly fight military navies until much later when the technology and tactics of submarine warfare had matured a great deal.

Even leaving all that aside, the realities of how a sub attacked anything is hardly something that would translate into a playstyle compatible with the rest of the game. Submarine combat is considerably slower paced than what the usual WoWs experience offers.

Because you'd lose unicum status? The game cant evolve with stagnant gameplay.

No, because the submarin gameplay is too slow and not good for the game.

Sub is use for embush target, not fight on massive deploy.

Maybe sub, but for PvE only ?

Only in PVE, i liked the Halloween event, so i could accept them in some dedicated Operation.

Honestly the thought of sneaking up on a mid-tier BB and blasting it with torps and having to flee from the other enemy ships sounds like a lot of fun.

Implementing a balanced and still fun submarine gameplay sounds difficult.

Im okay with a nice coop story mode. Wouldnrlt be too hard to develop.

Yes, but

limited to one per side as an extra ship which the other team doesn't know about

with a random spawn point anywhere on the map.

Detectable by hydro-acoustic search at all depths, but only be radar in flat seas.

Will stop all the campers as well as providing sneakiness.

That and destroyers already fulfill submarine niche of surprise torpedo attacks without their speed drawback.

Nah.

They were amusing in PvE, but I don't see their game play design translating well into a PvP environment.

In the Halloween operation, you were forced by the operation constraints to use them aggressively. In PvP, they'll basically be like high concealment torpedo DDs, only more so. I can't see how they'll contribute to anything but an even more campy meta.

This is why it's wrong either you assign historical roles or make concessions to arcade. Non of the ships function historically at this point so why not just speed up subs slightly when submerged. This will lessen potato load on dd players who really want to play a sub.

Oh the fun I can have torping campers, hiders, and lemmings. Anything forcing players to fight has my support.:Smile_teethhappy:

None taken but with a sub you would have to dive deeper then periscope depth and flee at rather slow speeds much slower then any DD.

Evading the potential destroyers or cruisers hunting you sounds like the fun part since they are faster then me.

The problems i see with balancing subs are these

- Speed they will always be the slowest class the only mitigating factor is they can travel underwater with little chance of being attacked so straight line travel is far more viable for you then other ship classes.

- Air-supply either you have too little forcing you to surface in the middle of a bad situation or you have too much and you can stay submerged for too long than is desirable for balance.

- Attack power will probably be a lot less then DD's since you only have so many torpedo tubes while DD's can put a lot more fish in the water.

The moment subs can hit 35kts submerged you can put IJN DDs in recycle bin... in case you haven't done so already.

This old thingy again. Simple answer nope. Too much fantasy involved in the mechanics, even for an arcady game.
