Play it like a cruiser, not like a battleship. Except Stalin, they can not bowtank much. So move, dodge, play with Concealment.

Large cruisers combine BB size and maneuverability with cruiser lack of armor. Same with guns, they lack overmatch of BB and DPM of cruisers, so you're stuck with oddboat. Only Stalingrad and Moskva have armor you can rely upon when angled, but then, you haven't expected bad Russian ship in game developed by Russians for (Belo)russian company have you?

And then question which large cruiser you have in mind - Azuma class is pretty much forced into long range standoffs due to massive fuckoff citadel, though Yoshino due to 30mm amidship can bait shots into angled broadside when having close and personal encounter with a BB at late game, as long as said BB doesn't know how to aim in front of turrets. Alaska have underwater citadel so you can't get blapped, but you still can succumb to repeated pen damage.

At beginning of battle - go to a flank and play from range angling and kiteing. (Alaska can be used a bit as Das Meme)

At later stages when the number of reds are reduced and your HP allows it you can go closer (10-15km) and bully some BBs... (not with Azuma though)

Each one is not different playstyle. Stalingrad just like Moskva, Kronshtadt like Hindenburg (at least I'm playing like that and it's ok- I have range module on it). Azuma and Yoshino full campers. Alaska closer range, closer to islands cause it can lob shells over islands.

If a BB shoots the midsection of your ship, either your supercruiser is not angled enough for 30 mm to matter or the shell will bounce off the citadel resulting in normal pens, if not no-damage pens due to spaced armour. At pretty much no point does Azuma eat a citadel where Yoshino eats none. Yoshino just eats less normal pens from hits on the deck and upper belt.

Overmatch, so the best Azuma sisters can do is to bait shots to ricochet off citadel main belt...

More noteworthy than pointlessly being able to overmatch the 30 mm plating (which will never give you added citadels, only added normal pens and no-damage pens), Georgia secondaries will pen Azuma everywhere, but 30 mm on Yoshino is immune (and the ship has a pretty small superstructure, so anything hitting amidships has low chances of doing anything) and in a brawl, Yoshino has 8 torps per side that can delete your BB. If you get too cocky and fail to get your citadels with your 6 shells, you might as well end up the one being sunk.

Nah you never brawl in a georgia unless you liek suiciding, managed to kill a yoshino by multiple cits at long to med range a few times now, nevermind the azuma which basically gives a citadel almost everytime i pull the sodding trigger.

Georgia is a flanker and support BB first, opportunist and 1v1'er (against some more choice targets) secondly, and brawler thirdly.

Essentially if you have to brawl it's better to reverse and aim for enemy turrets (if you can knock them out) and force them into a 1v1 scenario otherwise your kinda f'ed because georgia doesn't take hits too well.
