[-TAL-] xRSxrs Players 64 posts 20,614 battles Report post #1 Posted July 18, 2019 Hello I was grinding Hill thinking i will use it in ranked sprint or ranked if there is going to be T5 ranked again. I have only 6 point commander on Nicholas, so premium copy of the ship could be welcome. Some of youtubers claimed that it is fun little ship basically a Nicholas. I have got it yesterday. I compared the stats of ships and i couldnt bealive it. Hill is worse in almost every aspect. It has one torpedo louncher less with same torps, one gun more but with slower reload, oh and a concealment is garbage. 6.4 with captain concealment skill while some of the others T5 has more than 1km better concealment. Well that 0.5 knt better speed balance that i guess. But than again it has worse rudder. It has less HP points. I didnt bother to check the AA bcs of constant changes. Is this what you get after 4 week grind. I could grind Nicholas in a weekend. Is there something i am missing here? I missread something? It’s premium meaning it doesn’t need a dedicated capt so it can have that 19 point captain in her. I didnt asked for better ship. It would be fine if it was same as Nicholas or comparable. In that case i would benefit bcs of putting better captain on it. Maybe it is because Flamu said it in one video. I suppose he was bored, trolling or drunk. It looks like a Fletcher hull with Farragut guns and Mahan launchers that fire Nicholas torps. I think that might also explain the concealment (=Fletcher without concealment module). I wouldn't say it's worse than Nicholas per se, but that it's sure harder or at least different to make it work should be obvious from the fact alone that it has both much worse concealment and fewer hitpoints. To balance this out, it has one more gun. You might have noticed that Nicholas can only ever fire three of its four guns without going full broadside. Hill can basically always fire four, and use all five while... not quite fully broadsiding. So you're much more easily outspotted but can fight back much harder. This will of course goad people to push further into bad positions instead of avoiding them in the first place... In any event the ship would not be my choice for Ranked Sprint, or only in a DD division with a much stealthier DD that could spot for me. But then why not go Podvoisky in the first place. The other advantage is of course you can temporarily transfer your Gearing-specialized captain Ovechkin and give it some extra hit points and captain skills over any scrub who runs around with a puny 14-point captain. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I can't say there is a difference as torps are last resort and will kill target if you do it right. As we have this topic is Gremyaschy better than Hill in open water gunboating? And you are right, Hills bad concealment is hard to swallow. I dont mind a little worse concealment having better guns but this seems a little bit too much. 400m worse than Nicholas which is already one of the last in that department at T5. I wouldn't take either - in my opinion, stealth is too important in ranked to be messing about with excessively tubby DDs; if one is feeling the urge to go full dakka, don't mess about and reach for the Russians. That said, Hill is fun for messing about in Coop - she's a useful tool for doing the 'lots of kills' type missions (those that allow Coop, of course), and stuff like that. At my (low) skill level, Hill is functionally very similar to Nicholas, and will take any US captain, so you can free up a port slot (if you're not an obsessive collector)... For a freebie, Hill is fine; I bought mine on day one (to maximise fuel tokens), so she represents some useful doubloons instead. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
