How to watch a replay with the steam version of the game?

I'm playing this game through steam and I can not figure out how to get the replay to work.

1: I go to the replay map

2: I select a replay and click it with the right mouse button

3: in the list of programs I can open it with, I select...

This is where I get lost. I got to the WoW folder, then to "bin"

Here I select the folder "1631917" (no clue how these folder name are created).

I then go to "bin64"

Here I select "WorldOfWarships64" to open the replay.

This will open the game, it goes to a loading screen saying "Synchronizing".... and that is all it does.

It never starts the game.

Spoiler

Things I have tried:

- Try a different folder in "bin": game does not load or shows a crash message

- Rename "steam_api64.dll" (tip I found somewhere): game does not open, it shows a crash message.

I'm at a loss on how to get this working... :fish_nerv:

There's always a current version of the executable in the "clientrunner" folder, but tbh that hasn't been working for me either and the replays I have wanted to watch I've needed to copy over to my WG launcher folder and use that one.

Go to the bin folder and drag your replay onto the 32 or 64  worldofwarships icon.

Then game will start, but you will have to reset all your details of how your games runs. All is reset to standard.

To be honest i do not understand why Wows have changed how this works from like 3 months ago.

Sorry for the necro, but does this still work? As with myself i play on the steam version. Making sure there hasn't been any recent changes as the previous tuts are (obviously) out of date.

Ill try the above regardless, i think this should be pinned if there isn't a pinned thread about this already.

I can't even launch replays on standalone version. Crashes with python parser error :(

Are you trying to watch replays from the current version of the game? They are the only ones that more-or-less work. Anything older than the current patch will be buggy at best, typically crashing upon attempting to "play" them.

Yes, I know that. I tried with most recent replays (literally just finished game and wanted to look closer at one moment). I reinstalled the game and all libraries it uses, but it still refuses to work.
