Ways of distribution - Smolensk, Somers, Friesland

Dear players!

 

We are aware of your interest in the way that ships announced in the Development Blog will be distributed.

 

Today, we are ready to inform you of the ways of distribution of the following ships:

 

• Soviet tier X cruiser Smolensk will be available for coal;
• American tier X destroyer Somers will be available for steel;
• European tier IX destroyer Friesland will be available for free XP.

 

The release dates for these ships will be published later, in the respective news channels on the game website.

 

Information about the ways of distribution of other ships announced in the Devblog will be published later.

 

Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary.

If they follow the trend of other same tiered ships it's going to be 240.000 coal for the Smolensk and 1.000.000 free XP for the Friesland (though there is the possibility they return to the previous 750.000 free XP standard for a DD).

Somers could really be any amount considering the insane price hike of the Neutrashshmy over the Black even though both are the same tier.

Im against Friesland in pan european tree.

Make separate nation for Dutch ships.

Sketches for both polish and dutch tree already exist on forum ( made by Radeckij and others ) and both countrys was important paticipans of anti nazi coalition during ww2.

Polish tree can be easilly filled with destroyers and have sub tree with post war russian made ships.

Dutch tree can have excellent destroyers and cruisier tree

So why make pan european tree and negate idea of both dutch and polish tree?

Somers American Tier X Destroyer will be available for Steel; (Estimate 22,000 - 24,000)

Friesland Dutch Tier IX Destroyer will be available for FreeXP. (Estimate 750,000 - 800,000)

For now we do not have any more ships, so having one combined Pan-EU techtree will give you some benefits over keeping them separate.

There are many ideas for tech trees, but it takes a long time to actually add more ships and techtrees. We did already announce last year at gamescom that it is entirely possible to transfer ships to an own techtree, in case there are more ships being added from a nation like the Polish (or any other nation) which justifies an own tech tree.

Everything is possible in future and we would love to have every single ship that ever existed in the game, but we can only add so many ships each year. For some nations there are not even enough ships and projects to make ships from to fill a full tech tree.

Nope, until these large cruisers (except khronstadt) free xp ships priced at T9 were 750k free xp. So should this one.

They changed the prices not only for free exp. Also coal ships like JB and Georgia in comparison to Musashi. They claimed then that "it's easy to earn free exp" .

Well, thanks for the info. I was so ready to be in uproar over ANOTHER Steel DD, but fine, at least Friesland will be reachable. I'd still prefer their positions with Somers to be switched. Friesland while apparently fun, will require a competent comander to do well, Somers in comparison is just a regular "IJN DD that is actually good at torping stuff" AKA what new american DDs are.

 

As for Friesland being in a pan-european tech tree, I welcome that. It will provide an interchangeability of captains with other ships like Blyskawica and in the future other ships from scandinavian countries, Austria-Hungary, Spain and Portugal and more.

If enough ships of a single nation get eventually made, they can always port them to their own tech tree in the future (as Tanatoy notes up in the thread).

 

And I am indeed curious about Friesland actual price. We lack datapoints in that regard. So far all T9 freemium DDs were only for steel (and Benham  entirely separately) and their prices are wildly different. FreeXP and Coal cruisers and BBs seem to keep comparable prices on a given tier (if we allow the price hike heralded with Alaska and Jean Bart).

I agree. Two cruisers for coal with a third coming up, and we can het our T10 DD for coal. 

At tier 9 it was the same, i have 4 free XP ships and a coal ship now, but no DD- the prospect of Friesland is good though

I think Somers will be around 30-35k (i realy hate you for hiding it behind steel because neustrashimy i never will get) 

 

The Friesland about 800k - 900k Free XP

 

Smolensk maybe 300k

Oh what the..., I'll also throw my guesses out there:

Somers: Probably about 28k steel, like Stalingrad.

Smolensk: Should stay around 240-250k coal, unless they intend to milk the "Kutuzov 2.0" mania.

Friesland: I feel like it should be around 800k FreeXP, however as I noted above, we really lack data. Could easily be the same 1 million FreeXP as other newer FreeXP ships.

I was certain the smolensk would be steel, so coal is very good news indeed
