Hiya!

I've been a part of communities and forums in some places where you find the geeks and nerds and many have set-up threads, purely to show off your computer's swag and perhaps also get inspiration from others' setups. To my surprise, I couldn't find such a thread here so thought I would make one.

A few guidelines to follow:

  • Has to be your own setup
  • Your favourite colour
  • If a custom build, basic specs such as but not limited to: CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM, OS etc

So with that, I'll be the first to show-off :cap_cool:

Favourite Colour: Take a wild guess...    ...yes its blue

Specs:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 1800X

GPU - Asus Nvidia RTX2070 OC 8GB

MOBO - Asus Crosshair VI Hero

RAM - Corsair 16GB DDR4

Monitors - BenQ XL2730Z 1440p 144Hz, BenQ GW2765 1440p 60Hz

Keyboard - Razer Blackwidow Chroma

Mouse - Razer Deathadder Chroma

Mic - Blue Yeti

Mini-fridge - Mini-fridge (Yes I am lazy)

Mainboard: Asus Strix X470-F (same as with the CPU, will probably be replaced together with the cpu)

GPU: Asus Geforce RTX 2070 OC

RAM: 16 GB Corsair DDR4-3000

Case: be quiet! Dark Base 700

Storage: 1 TB SATA-SSD, 500GB Samsung 970 Evo and multiple HDDs

Headset: Corsair Void Pro Wireless, Mic: Auna Mic 900-B

Keyboard: Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum

Monitor: some old ones from acer, will be replaced soon

Why replace the mobo, x470 is good enough though.

Because I have a massive coil whining problem with it and unfortunately the distributor is not forced to exchange it because it's older than 6 weeks :(

I thought you can use warranty to replace with new one, coil whine doesnt considers as defects?

1st gen still holding strong, especially as you can get them dirt cheap as they are on clearance sales to make room for well hyped 3rd gen. Motherboard wise, both B350 and X370 (1st gen chipsets) gets the job done, just check specs if you have specific needs. If you aim for overclocking, be it first or 3rd gen cpu, look up for motherboards with beefier VRM section as well its cooling. That and double check if vendor released or soon will release BIOS update to permit 3rd gen CPUs.

For gaming, 6c/12t x600 series is more than adequate, if you happen to actually do something more useful, then 8c/16t x700/x800 might be better pick. That and AMD likes speedy RAM, with DDR4-3000/3200 being sweet spot in terms of performance/cost, you might need to update BIOS to help with stability of these RAM speeds though. Early BIOS releases were... famous for being picky about RAM:Smile_smile:

Not the most powerful, but having a limited budget and low requirements makes it good enough:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600

Mainboard: MSI A320M gaming pro

GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 Armor 8GB

RAM: 16GB G.Skill AEGIS F4-3000C16D

I also hate any gimmicks, so there are no lights or colors.

Ryzen is the way to go at the moment without a doubt, you can play around with them so much it is fantastic and the performance you get compared to the price is great too. I'm looking forward to the next generation, shame their GPU line-up just isn't anywhere near as good as nvidia. That's why I put my money in a RTX2070.

PC is a fairly new acquisition from early this year. No particularly fancy lighting here either. Was planning on transferring my Creative Sound Blaster Z soundcard from my old rig but haven't gotten around to that yet.

No. I wanted to replace it but there were other things that had to be replaced (smartphone and monitor, wasn't planned but it was necessary) and money is limited :(. The new cpu has to wait, probably until Ryzen 4000 next year

Nice, I've actually wanted a Fractal case for a while. I like their sleek looking design, but well my case is doing the job fine at the moment. Anyway, good looking parts choice there :)

Bump as update was done

Spoiler

IMG-20200223-202148-kopia.jpg

no hardware update sadly, just watercooling loop was expanded by adding GPU block (EK Supremacy VGA, universal one). Also had to solve lack of airflow over VRM and RAM, thus two 120mm fans were ziptied together and them zipped to the back of the case.

Funny thing attached to the exhaust fan in the back is 3d printed air duct with purpose of improving airflow over motherboard VRM. Unfortunately, printout came out less than pretty and sanding/painting effort weren't as effective as I'd hope

I'm curious about your fan set-up there, what's going on with that?
