Also they've implemented sub mechanics in the past in the halloween event....I wasn't playing the game then, but I've seen videos of steampunk subs...

They would "only" need to implement it and balance it with random battles if those sub mechanics are still in game...

The only thing stopping them implementing subs right now, is the maps. The maps we play are a 2D environment and have no depth perception built-in, so they will need to redesign them so that subs can operate in them too.

 

Once you they do that you are gonna see sub spam, I guarantee it.

Yea, I know about the maps. And while that won't be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination, they would still need to actually implement some real-life subs from history, armament, all the usual stats that ships have, make the hydroacoustic search the only way of spotting them while submerged(except for maybe dd's who would be exception...maybe?) and many many other things that I won't bother anymore to list.

 

GZ would have to get its hydro back then rofl

It would explain why there are hardly any new maps coming out for WoWS nowadays... because resources are being diverted on remaking the existing maps from 2D to 3D?

Depends on how far WG is willing to go... does not have to be 3D...
They could just create two plains of visibility. The upper (current) plain being the current surface. And a lower submarine plain.

And the only way to see to the other plain is via asdic or sonar. And you can make that as effective as you'd like.... 

 

More difficult will be attack and defence. A sub attacking a surface ship is easy... torps… or maybe torps-spam.

But a surface player would need a realistic chance of evading such an attack... and what would prevent the sub from going straight for the carrier?

 

But how would a surface ship attack a sub? Depth charges? Hedgehogs?
It would basically require rebalancing all ships for submarine-attack and sub-defence. Or any sub would go straight for the Yamamoto and the such… avoind any destroyers and (perhaps) cruisers and find the 1st unescorted BB to attack with inpunity. 

 

I think this balancing act will be more difficult than the CV rework… oeps.

I guess subs would have limited time to be submerged, also DDs should be able to set minefields at chokepoints and depth charge Subs if they are under as subs would move slow while under water, also subs would need to be periscope depth to fire torps and deck guns when surfaced. A plane flying close above should spot them if they are not down too deep. Also probably new planes or weapon loadouts for planes to be able to deploy depth charges as well.... Could be interesting, but wont happen from a day to the other

If you tried the halloween event, it worked nicely and that was 3d enviroment. The depth charges was nice. Think they could do it. The question is more about the general gameplay how would that work out and the maps are too big...or the subs too slow.

Seeing as wheeled vehicles have now entered the WoT's domain, guess it is only a matter of time when subs enter this one, looks interesting, never played the Halloween event, but , still looks interesting, how they will implement it I have no idea.

They can't even implement CV mechanics after 4 years, lets not confuse them more with subs...lmao

Because they have made a complete mess of the CV rework so if they bring the next mess forward "sub" we will forget about CV and be transfer all our frustrations to sub's. Therefore CV can be filed as a great success :)

2. Lack of new maps suggests the mapping teams are working on making the current maps submerged

Wondering what nations will have subs, what tier they'll start at etc.

I will love to see, the submarines in the game.
It would be an improvement after the game destruction of the CV.

Curious is that Isaac Peral and Caballero were inventors of the first torpedo submarine, known as the Peral submarine, and Spanish.

Spain still has no presence in the game, a pity, I hope someday correct in WG.
