Georgia versus Jean Bart?

So, next week (with the new voucher, and possibly without), I'll be able to get either Jean Bart or Georgia - which would people say is more fun?

I'm not too worried about being an all-conquering death-dealing avatar of Kali (with my lack of competence, I have to keep my goals realistic!), but rather having maximum fun, whilst avoiding being a complete liability to my team.

My impression is that Jean Bart is pretty serviceable, with excellent AA, and requiring good management of the reload booster to maximise effectiveness; meanwhile, Georgia has 'ooge guns, but not many of them, and rather splendid secondaries. How close is that to people's actual experience of them?

You of all players know that the weak smal caliber guns will only perform if you can flank enemies with them. It is therefore a situational ship depending on enemies to allow you to flank.

When they deny you flanking, it will suck....i haven't seen it used to spam HE at distant kiting or bow tanking enemies so there is probably something making that less attractive, or cruisers just do that a lot better. ( more guns and not relying on a consumable )

And...since no one seems to enjoy secondary builds tunrning the backside of it in a 10 km HE spamming hell, which you could use to bait enemies and burn then down sailing away.....yeah what would be the selling point then...

It does have topkek AA though, since most its secondaries are dual purpose guns doubling as AA...with skilling/moduling  into it ofc.

^^^^ Sigh.

Jean Bart guns are far from weak. A truly great reload with all guns forward facing, combined with reload booster has many advantages, whether you end up catching enemy broadside or you need to spam HE, in which case you have almost guaranteed sticking fires. The AP is not weak either. As far as 15inch guns go, these are among the best in terms of characteristics.

In fact, Jean Bart doesn't have any big weaknesses aside from having 32mm plating all round. Very strong, fun ship.

Georgia is another beast. 6 guns yes, but the best AP damage in game per shell. Also the fastest BB in the game with a speed boost taking it to 39.7knts. Slap on USN dispersion mod in slot 6 for main gun accuracy, go survivability build as your main focus, take the secondary mod in slot 3 and have tons of fun wrecking face at any range. Another very strong, fun ship.

This was a brief rundown, but ultimately you can't go wrong with either =)

Imo both are strong and fun, I'd say pick the one you will find better use for, captain training etc.

I have the Jean Bart, nice ship if you like the Richelieu, you will love this, as for the Georgia, I have no idea s I cannot afford it, and getting the coal for it will take me about half a year.

I find it easier to do well in the jean bart than the georgia, yes the guns are accurate but not that accurate.

I need to stop being so aggressive in game.

Captain availability is a point to consider. Georgia needs a secondary spec captain for best results, only other US ship that can really share this captain is Massachusetts, where Jean Bart will work great with Richelieu/Alsace/Republique captains.

So if you play French BBs Jean Bart is ideal for training, where Georgia is less useful as a crew trainer unless you can put a 19pter in the ship and rake in that elite xp.

IMHO Georgia doesn't require full sec build to the extent Massa does. Her main battery is accurate up to max range and accurate secondaries are simply a bonus. Standard Montana captain should work just as well, just with different playstyle.
