Summer Recruitment Drive - Get Paid for Inviting Friends!

The bots were to be expected. Naturally, when you advertise real money for recruiting new players, that must backfire.

I think the rewards for serious recruiting efforts were sufficient as they were and most of all, they promoted seriosity in terms of the motives of recruiting. When I recruited friends, it was because I assumend they would like the game, I was prepared to accompany each of them to T6 and beyond. Because they were friends, people I care about, the motive mainly was to give them a head start into the game. Getting a bunch of flags I never saw as an incentive, it was a nice compensation. But at the core of me recruiting a friend/acquaintance I must feel I am doing him a favor, not me. So the reward must be mostly his and the game must be of a quality that me recommending it doesn't make me look bad. The best recruiting is a game that is inspired by it's community.

I wouldn't "sell my soul" to talk strangers into a game. The summer recruitment is bound to do that. What is to be expected? That people run around at their workplace and gym and whatnot and try to talk the masses into WoWs, until people stick their heads together and grow suspicous of that being some sort of Ponzi scheme? The guy who will get the reward will be some strange guy from a country where 10k€ equals 3 years of income and he will make an effort together with like-minded to grind as many accounts to T6 as possible, to never play again afterwards.

Recruitment imo must be based on sustainability, on thousands of people inviting one person, who they are prepared to walk into the experience rather than one crazy guy spamming his environment.

That said, I feel, WoWs as a game must not become a "flow-type heater". The new players of today might become the inactive accounts of tomorrow. Looking at the sheer frequency of accounts that don't have a single game played on record or simply became inactive, each player lost is likely not going to return and hard to compensate by new ones.

My suggestion would be to focus more on the quantiles in the middle of the player distribution. The typical WoWs player is middle aged, has family and/or a job. He doesn't want to invest his whole leisure time in a game. Doing so he is gold for WG. He buys premium time but doesn't overpopulate the servers 24/7. So he pays full price but doesn't generate the cost of a hard-core player. This is how gyms work, people pay membership but train once a week and don't wear and tear the equipment. To motivate the normal player, he needs to see reachable grinds.

The whole WoWs system is increasingly catering to the hard-core players. We see a T9 premium ship for an almost unreachable amount of tokens, while there is nothing in between. We see steel campaigns, while most players don't even see the chance of ever using it. Even replays are all about the guy having 10 kills, not about the everyday smart moment.

When I joined WoWs, the prospect of getting a FreeXP-ship seemed as remote as a trip to the moon.

Ofc I am not a marketing guy and don't have the insights WG-staff may have, but I think creating more stages and good-value rewards for the middle ground would pay off more than asking for the extremes, the guy playing 24/7, the guy recruiting hundreds of people.

A good idea e.g. was introducing low and mid-tier coal ships in the armory, so players starting the game can see there is a premium for playing that is realistic. Maybe a T5 ship for 3k steel or 150k FreeXP could complement that. But most of all I feel we need operations back and there must be operations for T3-5. It takes some time to get into the mechanics and physics of the game. Up to then the gameplay is perceived repetitive. New players imo need variety. That is where I lost my recruits. Give them operations, maybe something like a real campaign.

Sry if that is slightly off-topic, but I felt I cannot say why something imo doesn't work and not show alternatives.

Oh, I finally find out here the reason for the Königsberg army of bots we finding more and more in games, up to 6 per games to my window, and polluating matchmaking. :)
Did you plan anything against them exploiting the system ?

It was obvious WG....you offer big money for recruiting and all that happens is greed and corruption. Lower tiers are being ruined by massive amounts of bots. You have created a monster. :Smile_amazed:

Some of them were probably there even before the contest but by offering 10,000 euros they released the beast and all bots were activated from 'sleep mode'.

Thanx for bots in every nightbattle around tier 5-7

Actually einsteins from WG you should reward veteran players who  playing and paying for your game not promote a horde of bots and newb monkeys.

Because we are about to left and we WILL stop paying...

i must add some screens, not for the naming and shaming, but for clean community

just had this battle, ALL are started 19.7. (accounts) and ALL play german cruisers

and it was not my imagination, check them for yourself

not to mention the ships just going forward, then stoping, then litlle bacward, no turning no nothing

probably using new acc boosters to start premium acc to get to t6 asap

Instead of investing first and foremost on the loyal playerbase you kick them out of the game byconstantly insulting our intelligence and our time spent with you for all those years, now you are filling up the servers with hordes of inexperienced players who make the game a "retard" extravaganza even in higher tiers. Your statistics interpretation is a very small indicator of people's needs but you have based your whole game strategy on statistics. I wanna see the moment you realize that statistics doesnt pay your bills but real satisfied humans. I am currently disgusted because i believed that WG with WoWs wouldnt fall in the same trap as most of the greedy gaming corporations but instead i see the same idiotic strategies that treat humans as numbers.. Continue likes this and you will eventually earn whats coming.

PS: I personally dont even have the appetite to play as i should because IT DOESNT MATTER to anyone in my team, everyone is acting like they just started the game but somehow they now have T9s and T10s. So instead of busting my head to play according to my experience, employ strategies and everything i have learned, i just yolo like a moron cause everyone is yoloing or camping 40km away at the edge of the map. The few times i actually engage in actual proper gameplay i find myself and maybe, MAYBE, 1 or 2 more teammates fighting for a cap while 8-9 other ships are hiding for 10 minutes behind island 20km away. The humiliation of the game reached very high levels, so sad.

But they give you the possiblity to get into operations, after reaching 15 or so battles :D
That is the method. They want you to buy premiums. Up to tier IV you have mixed teams with some bots , quite fair matchmaking means other newbees, beginning with tier V you are pitted against tier VI/VII Divisions of clan players with 15+ captains, ships and camos u never ever have seen, ARPs etc
I did the test and it was horrible.

He is not actualy in a disadvantage as long as he stays away from the big boys playground that is Tier V+.

As long as he stays at Tier IV and below he will have "new player protection" which means he will only see players in a similar situation. The accountlevels were meant to slowly introduce gamemechanics to a new player so he isn't overwhelmed by everything unlocked at the start. That is ofc. void if he platoons with a seasoned player.

Also what I believe ColonelPete meant with you should have advised him better is the shipline he picked. RN cruisers aren't really what you can call new player friendly.

Suggest to him he should start multiple new lines and stay away from RN cruisers for now.

Best is if he levels up a least one tree per class (you may skip CVs) up to Level IV.

So, who won the 10000? Any information at all?

Probably some streamer, who already have a large audience and could spam their links to them.

Edit: just opened a ticket explaining he situation, lets see what they tell me.

i did open a ticket regarding this issue and the sad reply they did is that I only have 2 battles in my service record... unless the service record means something else other than playing random battles!

I did the test and it was horrible.

I have the exact same experience. I recruited one young player who plays Fortnite and Overwatch to the game. He was actually pretty exited at first and had fun beating bots and other newbies at the beginning scoring krakens and whatnot. But the problem was that account levels were progressing very slow and when he got to tier 5 and pushed battle it was a total constant wipeout. He quit. The jump in tier 5 is too high and those bot-games in the beginning and low level accounts don´t help one with tactics or using flags camos and equipment and when you hit tier 5 you really need those things and skills or you quit for getting your [edited]handed to you repeatedly and having no clue what goes wrong all the time.

I vote for some new way of progressing account or just get rid of it and give newbies the same accounts without restrictions as experienced players. Also tier3-5 operations shouldn´t be that hard to implement for them to get more varied and experience against harder foes before jumping to true randoms.

This game is hard to learn if you don´t know anything about it. How to sail your boat, lead shots, choose ammo, when to angle, use consumables and other gimmicks and learn the capabilites of enemies ships and how to fight them effectively and think of current game mode and map. It is pretty complex especially if you try to win and do your utmost. Now at tier 5 there is a total wall when you get put against good players in ships that are quite often two tiers higher due to tier 5 MM. It really turns even promising new players away because people usually don´t want to lose and feel useless or clueless.
