Unable to get IFHE........

On my Massachusetts captain skills, why is this and what are the best skills for the captain, of this ship (and ofc, how to get IFHE), current captain is a 15 pointer, my highest.

I want to use the secondaries on this to full potential but retraining the captains every time or resetting the skills cost ex amount of gold, which in itself is very annoying.

The port ui just warns you that ifhe is generally bad on battleships, you can still pick the skill, it doesnt actually block it.

The massachusets needs a dedicated captain, you cant use the same captain for the us bb line, because that requires an entirely different set of skills. My recommendation would be a 19 pointer in the monty, and another 19 pointer in the massa.

Which I don't have, 15 skill points is my highest, he came from the midway but I though you could retrain a captain, costing me tons of gold now .

You can reset his skills for elite commander xp, which you will have a ton of if you have any 19 pointers in other ships

Um don't retrain it to a premium ship.  Find a tech tree ship that would benefit from having the skills that captain has and for which he is an upgrade and train it to that (difficult to match a dedicated Mass captain ideally to something else I admit).  Then move it over to Mass (free, no training required) and it can be used on both.

Also if you can be patient WG *might* give us another free reset at some point, which includes retraining to a new ship.

I am afraid other are right, Massa needs dedicated captain.

As we are talking about it, what silver ship can share Massa captain?

I could have not find anything reasonable.

You have 58 premium ships.....spending has never bothered you before. :Smile_trollface:

Out of interest does anyone think the commander set upon a secondary spec for Georgia would work on Massechusets?

It's probably the closest thing to it but as it's another premium there is no need to specialize the captain for either ship.   There have been some rumours about a second USA BB line that is more about brawling and getting close (although that may just be someone's wishes) - it that ever happens then there are some silver ships that would be ideal.

I just use my NC captain (my highest tier silver USA BB) on the Massechusets

Is it mandatory to use manual secondaries on those US ships or are the accurate enough without it? If they were, an Atlanta commander could work two. Maybe even A high tier light cruiser one, although AFT is more of a waste on them.

A fully-specced IFHE secondary captain on the Massa is probably the most fun you can have in the game.

AND it synergises as a captain for a Georgia..

I have such a captain and both ships and it on both. As do several other clan members. A triple massa secondary div or Georgia div is an insane thing to behold.

Just do it.

(also, bear in mind this captain only works optimally on the massa/georgia in the US BB line; leave your Monty/NC/Missouries alone))

Finally, ignore those people commenting ‘IFHE does not work on BBs etc.....THIS is the rare exception where it does. I’m not going to rehearse the arguments why.

Not that rare. It is just waste of skill. :Smile_trollface:

Their secondary armaments are effectively identical (Georgia has marginally better firing angles, but the guns are the same down to the accuracy buff), so I can't see why not.

I don't think it's mandatory. LWM argues that manual secondaries on those ships can actually make them too accurate in some circumstances since secondaries always aim for the water line - you'll end up with a lot of shells shattering on cruiser belts at really close ranges. I don't think that's enough of a disadvantage not to take it, though.

I think if you really want to murder DDs that try to rush you, manual secondaries is the sure fire way to do it. But if you just want to farm damage, not having it means you'll fire at targets on both sides of your ship, and the increased scattering might actually help you get more damaging hits against larger targets up close.

My guess is one of the silver cruisers.

I may have less as I have sold a few, as for new ships now not sure there is anything coming out which I would want to pay for but at least I pay for the free gamers, I'm fine with that, but the amount of gold to rearrange skill sought to be looked at, I just think it is too much, you should be able to swap and choose the skills freely until you decide what you want, then have to stump up the gold.

This won't change though as we all know, the WG robber barons need shier daily vodka's.

When it comes to Commanders, there are only 8 in the Armoury, I think there needs to be double that, if not more, and commanders for every nation, pull your damn finger out WG:Smile-angry:

Yeah... like Japanese ones. The only Japanese captain I've seen was some kind of a space dolphin or sumfin...

Overall, I am mostly disappointed with manual secondaries because at the point when you get to use them, say against a DD, the torpedoes are prolly already on their way. Also, you fail to get the warning as your secondaries don't do anything unless you manually activate them. Also, they cost you 4 pts. At 3 pts, I might be more interested.

Another thing about the IFHE, the UI says it is ineffective, I suppose on some BB's it actually really is ineffective but I'm not sure if I am knowledgeable enough to know which one's it is a complete waste of 4 pts and on which ones it may bring you some benefit, again at the cost of 4 pts, of course.

BTW about free captain respecing, someone here gave me a tip which doesn't help me, but if you join a guild that does clan battles regularly, you will get a chance to use free respec once per season.

The same captain on the massa can be used on the georgia. Think they should have a similar skill but for secondaries only for 3pts (meaning more flexibility).

I am actually struggling on how to play this ship but im guessing you need to be close bow-in angled and have a decent secondary build with a few skills in other areas to help improve things like survivability.

Also managed to get my dispersion down to 193m's but i've been having quite a few games with damage under 60k which is annoying me.

Captain with these skills works on Massachusetts and other American Battleships.

Not very well tho. It is not optimal for either massachusets or normal bbs.

It is not optimal, but if you only have 1 Captain with lots of skill points. On North Carolina I use AA Guns Modification so the AA is rather good. But this Captain works rather well for me on Massa. You want that extra fast heal, one of the ships strengths, and you want to get close. Firing range is only 18 km.  So the stealth skill works really well.

For some players this is optimal Massachusetts Captain

When the Clan Battle starts there is usually a period of free cpt reskills. Use it wisely...

I always grind captains and give them whatever skill, then re-skill them when the freebie comes.

As for captains: I have one 19pt and he is on Hood, I also used him on the 'current grind' silver tech tree BBs (and now have Conqkek).

Since I also use him on Exeter... he gets plenty captain XP. Can only say, use FLAGS/CAMO to get a 19pointer ASAP.

Choose to use him on your most favourite ship(s) and he'll just about crap free cpt XP.

(and those I use to train/put captains on my fav ships, like Queen E, Leander and Fiji).
