No, it varies.

 

Last season was Tier IX Arms Race, which was great fun since I had just managed to scrape together enough steel to get me the USS Black. Playing her in Arms Race was a blast, I'll tell you that for free!

The season before that was Domination mode, and split into two parts with the first at Tier V and the second at Tier VIII. Personally, I had the most fun at tier V, but then I'm most comfortable around those middle tiers; I'm just not good enough to reliably pull my weight above tier VII.

 

I don't have any tier X ships, and it's a bit of an open question whether I will get around to take a rental into Season 12. And I am also having less and less fun in any games with carriers in them, so there is that as well. Still, I might go for some tier X destroyer play; it might be interesting to try out a Gearing or a Khabarovsk, for instance!

 

Anyway, best of luck to you, Captain AwesomeBoat - I hope you rise swiftly through the ranks!

We do, even if you might not agree with all of our changes - but for example initial spotting delay or adjusting difficulty for hitting DDs with HE bombs is very much feedback-based.

A resource you can use in the Armory to cure excessive use of caps lock... erhm, I mean to buy special permanent camouflages for your Steel ships. You can find that in the Camouflages Tab of your Armory.

and the rocket spam that's harder to hit with aswell ? since I see that used as much as HE bombs ….I don't tend to play dds but I can see they are in a bad place at the minute at the expense of cvs having fun. Radars have been changed now a number of times but lets face it radars don't bomb, torp and rocket you  and have a set duration and can be avoided or baited very often   ..the spotting delay is only a hand full of seconds the dd will be marginally close at best as will the team..with exactly the same issue . what about the joy I have playing my shinyhorse a ship I love, that manages to find bottom tier games with a t8 CV that can 3 shot me with AP bombs with nothing I can relay do about it an issue faced by a few ships . tiny tims and ap bombs proliferate t10 cvs that hit like a truck ...its not quite comparable to a yama catching u out and hes a good shot with rngeses on his side but is also taking a risk shooting and is in the same position as me.

"...that should help..."  ....   "should" ... and if it wont we go "oops"? ;)

 

Even if you will slightly change CV aiming/dmg or whatever ... DDs will ALWAYS be CVs first target, and now with manual aiming its just way too easy to kill them - its not like you can drop just 1 salvo per squadron as it was before, plus right now you can take 10-40% dd's hp (or more if your lucky) with 1-3 rocket hits which is ridiculous.

But lets be pessimistic here and say that CV will have a hard time killing DD  - all he needs to do is spotting the DD (which is easy with manual squadron control) , and trust me, whole enemy team will aim at it. Its not like planes will run out for fuel? :D 

You have max 3-6 min until your dead because of CV in 7v7 as DD (counting with first smoke). So its 3-6 min or you will glue yourself to a mino or anything else with good AA firepower - meaning (and lets be realistic here) your useless as DD.

 

Ehh... as if radaring ships over islands from 10km+ is not enough to spoil the fun for DDs :(

So let me get this straight. After continuously failing to realize that CVs are inherently broken in 12v12 randoms, you're going to implement some changes and force us to test let us enjoy them in a 7v7 environment. Including rental ships, that are in no way going to skew your results.

Absolutely nothing is going to go wrong with that, I'm absolutely sure of it. /s

Wows is going the same path as Wot.

 

WG is doing a great work with that. 

 

I started play wows the day I've got into CBT. And it was fine. But now, I see the same BS happen here as it did in Wot. 

 

One thing that is really bad, is the fact WG pushes all for t10. Just the same as in Wot. 

 

Im not even gonna start talk about all the other stuff...

Sad to see some anti CV attitude whining postings and swearing, as usually.

It would be nice if players don't attack each other as seen in some threads.

Im looking forward to patch 0.8.4, the CV captains coffee fetch start break which gives ships time to spread out and any future change which encourages DD gameplay and incentives for capping activities.

Something like this would be marvelous if one wanted to play any of the 'weak AA' DDs (so, especially most of the IJN torp boats) - at the moment, they're basically largely redundant if you get a CV in the game.

 

With regard to including CVs in the game, I agree with thew view that it's a colossally bad idea; that said, if WG are going to ram a testing phase down our throats with this season of Ranked, the least they can do is make the rewards a *lot* better to compensate - I'd be a lot less fed-up with the prospect of being used as a guinea pig *again* (the first time being random battles for the last several months) if I was being blatantly bribed to do so...

Mod messing with the matchmaker in order to avoid an entire ship class would probably be classed as illegal activity by WG, if that is the idea.

What about a tournament idea "Battleships only", "CVs only", "CAs only" or "DD's only"?

 

I would find such class-only tournaments a fun idea :)

I love playing DD's in all battle modes, but as has already been stated, with the new era of CV's it is near impossible to have a good DD game at the higher tiers. I find myself limited to the lower tiers if I want a good game.

As for CV's being back in ranked, all you will find is matches will be won by the team with the best CV player, everyone else may as well just sit by their CV till the end of the match.

Really??? Do you really understand what an absolute cluster F the Dev's have created with this "new & improved" CV Meta?????  How much more NEGATIVE feedback to pushing a MINORITY class on the player base does it take? God sake's man.... What will it take for someone in WG to grow a pair & use the data you already have to stop this mindless stupidity with this B.S cv rubbish?

A class of ship that now has DISPROPORTIONATE impact on the game, with a genuine low percentage of players who can actually PLAY the bloody things, that is alienating the very people who support the game (and pay your wages BTW)? 

 

I get it as an employee you have to support the company position..... I get that..... but please Crysantos, do NOT insult the people who play WoW with B.S like this. 

 

I really can see this season of ranked being an absolute train wreck & I sure as hell will not be wasting XP, credits and my time being "cannon fodder" or rather an unpaid crash test dummy to "aid" the "development" this abomination called CV's.... enough is enough!

It's going to be really fun and engaging :)

Can't wait to play my DD knowing that there's no way to save the star (as always in ranked, just now it will be even harder to win damage race), no way to survive if trying to do something else than sitting useless with the blob, only I can hope that my CV will be better then enemy CV. Really fun and engaging. Not.

Maps and game modes for the new season are selected with that peculiarity in mind, so that ships are able to provide support to each other while repelling air raids. Key areas are located in a way that makes it easier for both teams to control them without spreading out." The words are by Wargaming themselves. It is a bare admission of the extent to which the game has changed beyond recognition to something far far worse.

 

There is no point repeating for ever the same arguments; "OLD RTS had same issues", "old CVs could wreck ships and spot DDs", "We will nerf CVs v DDs", "adapt", whilst the quote above exposes in its naked stark truth how TOTALLY WRONG this meta is. We got rid of that terrible blob smoke meta to replace it with this terrible play? And some even dare call this "lets sail together" kind of play "teamplay"? TEAMPLAY? This is not teamplay, it is lowest common denominator crap play. 

 

What made warships such an AMAZING game was that teamplay meant taking a tactically different positioning in order to satisfy a strategic team objective. E.g.  a flanking CA, a spotting DD, a cross fire positioning BB. Now all that that has made the game exciting has been deleted at a stroke for the sake of some people not losing face (because we can all see the rugged determination with which all this is being pursued despite the outrage from the vast majority of the community).   

 

Wargaming claims that RTS CV could wreck someone in ranked before and don't understand the extent of the problem now. We all know the answer: RTS in ranked was not balanced and it was a problem BUT tactically not as much an issue for flanking ships (DF made a difference) and DDs (slower real plane speeds, easier to avoid without having to stay away from objectives, no rocket planes 'click and damage' play). More to the point: there were VERY few CVs around and that made ranked with CVs bearable. What is coming up will be the day to day random misery, "adapted" for ranked. And have no doubts, which ships, win or lose, will RETAIN stars. Yes the one ship that can stay safely behind, have endless planes and chose targets at will will score the highest XP and retain star, no matter how good or how terribly bad the player would have been in any other class (we have all seen what a 48% WR Midway player can do these days to anyone). Good luck ranking out with CVs retaining stars throughout. 

 

It is even more shocking the extent to which Wargaming commentators seem themselves to have fallen for their own rhetoric. Take the CV super fast planes (which have speeds that are incommensurate to those of the ships - obviously someone decided to make them adrenaline pumping fast) which can spot anywhere with little chance to avoid other than to stay back: "adapting" and "staying back" or "upcoming CV nerfs v DDs" are TOTALLY irrelevant points to raise as mitigation and nothing to do with the issue at hand that the community is screaming about: whether you take half a DD's life or a quarter of his life per attack is neither here nor there, when in essence the concealment element of the ship is rendered worthless. And concealment is not just about being detected continuously (which can be interrupted by DD smoke) but it is about SURPRISE, i.e. it is ABOUT NOT BEING DETECTED AT ALL AND APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES, INCLUDING BBs (incidentally it will be great fun to see how the wider HE bomb dispersion of Midway  will in fact be a huge fire buff, since each attack will lite three fires - have fun ranked BB players and will be so nice to see what happens to any fool with secondary built Kurfurst...)

 

And finally: NO. NO NO NO. CV meta is NOT comparable to other ships' meta. It is not at all the case that CVs have the kind of asymmetrical impact on the game akin to that of, for example, DDs. Yes , each class has its won play-style and must be faced for what it is, BUT the three main classes have been developed in an approximate rock/paper/scissors format and tested/balanced for years before our super AMAZING game was launched and then further developed. In this format, each class has its own role and the game offers innumerable combinations of tactics to play well and succeed. When you bring the CV in, all that is done for: no more thinking strategically, instead be part of the blob, no more excitement, no more using brain, no more being creative. No, instead we have this rubbish state of affairs:

In these two lines we have Wargaming admitting to having undermined all the amazing gameplay that warships has represented for years. Now this "blob all together" is being brought into competitive game play. To think that all this rubbish started by trying to fix a Graf Zeppelin game-play super-minor problem and we ended up with destroying everything that has made this game fun and exciting. 

 

There is one remedy for the here and now: keep competitive clean, take CVs away from ranked, and let at least one game mode be for the purpose of having fun as opposed to being cannon fodder for CV players. 

 

Wargaming have, through amazing hard work and ingenious game design created a masterpiece of a game. Through, I suspect and believe, wanton disregard for the community and perhaps motivated by a perhaps arrogant desire to save face (let alone by the paralysis of contemplating how to deal with the super excited CV community) Wargaming has undermined all the good work and in a single stroke have turned a brilliant game to utter rubbish. It is time that Wargaming wakes up and smells the coffee of its own creation.

That would be a mod that allows the client or even another third party programm to take actions in the game for you.

That mod would be 100% illegal and get you banned for using it. Even with good/harmless intentions in mind.

Since that is a special gamemode that not many players queue for (well not as many as for random) WG descided to cut down the scope of available ships to make it a lot easier for the MM to assemble players and don't have to worry about that one guy that absolutely want to play Ranked in their Tier I ship. (btw WG Tier I Ranked when? :Smile_trollface:)

 

The seasons are that "far" apart because usualy WG take turns with clanbattles and Ranked seasons. Some people even say they should leave a breaktime between a ranked and a clanbattles season to leave some space to breathe for those players that usualy want to attend in both.

Have you seen that average xp of carriers? Its way higher than any other ship class.

 

Between the fact that carriers always die last, and their great spotting and damage potential against only 6 enemy ships, carriers will save the star pretty much every single match.

Hi,

 

No worries, the forums are a place for exactly such questions. The focus on one Tier is mainly due to MM since players are spread out over several rank groups and we did experiment with two Tier Ranked seasons before. The seasons are usually alternating with clan battles to provide different content and to not overload players with activities - it also makes sure that there is some variety in gameplay.

Why not for Sprint at least though? I am certain it would be a lot of fun and the ultimate troll move for the people complaining about Premiums and imbalanced (shipwise) teamlineup in ranked. :Smile_veryhappy:

@The_EURL_Guy is this official or you may reconsider it? I can live with rentals but the CV spam. Yes CVs where part of ranked before, but the skill gab was so huge that only better players where able to constantly play and progress with them. Bow the skill gab is so low that avg players are able to outperform. Also before you see the CVs in queue you can wait a bit and have CV less game, now I can't see this happening. 

Do someone of Wargaming actually play tier 10? I mean what do you expect to see this ranked season? Constantly playing Midway with Minotaur and Worcester? This will be the most relevant ships, so the team with moArrr will win. Please play your game and listen the CC, they all hated CVs in the new meta.
