PSA: Lock on bug is back again

Was shooting a supposedly locked Worcester and wondered why my salvo went all over the place.

Then I noticed no lock on the minimap.

Worcester is supposedly locked. Not on the minimap tho.

 

So yeah, try to verify that your target is actually locked before shooting. Might save you some headaches.

 

Can i just express my amazement at WG's competence again?

Why "back again"? It was never fixed btw, they tried to fix it during one PTS ages ago but failed ofc.

Didn't they say that it got fixed in one of the patches some time ago? I seem to remember something along those lines and haven't experienced the bug since.

They did but it quickly became apparent that the "fix" is/was not working.

I guess the easiest way would be, that everybody has to manually select the target in the first place. But cant have that with our degenerated playerbase :cap_haloween: (atleast WG seems to think that way, since everything else is "too complicated" also)

I can confirm, i got some actually impossible dispersion in my zao a little while ago. The shells could have covered an entire city the way they landed lol, which is physically impossible with zao+dispersion module+legendary module, actually, the way they landed is impossible in the zao regardless of modules.

Dear All,

 

When you lock on target, look at the mini-map. If it shows the course line of the locked ship then you have a "proper" firing solution. Only the cross hairs above the ship are not enough to know if you have a firing solution. If not, double X and the course line will appear.

May Saint Nicholas guide your shells away from my ship.

Could this also be behind the recently reported cases of incorrect Priority Target values being displayed?

 

I read someone on here complaining about getting shot at by two ships while PT showed only one and, similarly, I have had multiple cases recently of being shot at despite PT showing no ships having me targeted.

Ive seen that either on Twitch or YT (believe the latter, should have saved it) where someone got shot at by a BB without having PT showing it up. However was a german BB, so dispersion was inconclusive by just watching :Smile_teethhappy:

I have had it a few times but since the alleged fix I just assumed I was doing something weird when I shoot, but reassuring and frustrating that it's clearly still an issue.

It could be actually the lock on bug thing, since the server thinks that the client is not locked on :P.

Its still in the game. Just played a Myoko game and aimed waterline at a pensacola 4 km away that was flat broadside...they all fell short.

I had sent a message to Mr. Conway about a month ago concerning Missouri's accuracy because I couldn't hit a damn thing during some matches and he had replied that Mo's accuracy had not problem, however, I was not aware of the situation you described above and I had never really noticed it in battle, had never checked both targets' lock ons.  Will start doing it now....

Well, id say that generally this bug only happnes about once in every 10 or 20 matches, so probably not. Its extremely annoying when it happens tho.

What @CptMinia said, if you encounter a situation like this, please submit a proper bug report with screenshots and a replay file to our support team, then we can investigate and escalate if necessary.

 

It might also just be a visual issue, but that needs to be looked at.

In the replay after the 8:30 mark you can see some really strange dispersion on my sovetsky soyuz against a des moines within 4 km.

I dont know if this is my mistake but the horizontal dispersion seems way out of wack to me.
