[OFFS] TataLup Players 159 posts 38,945 battles Report post #1 Posted May 17, 2019 I was again left furious and frustrated, sunk ship of course, by the inability of the user interface to cope with a 3rd command. When torpedo attacked brake (accelerate) & turn is mandatory. Meanwhile if about to get spotted, or want to change ammunition type /weapon, a 3rd command is simply ignored by the UI. If this is a keyboard issue (I don't think so as in other games does not happen) then at least key imput should be stacked in a buffer and executed in turn. [WGP2W] LemonadeWarriorITA Beta Tester 1,669 posts 8,264 battles Report post #6 Posted May 18, 2019 I also had some issues, but those were gone since I started using a mechanical keyboard. It is called "ghosting" when your keyboard fails to register multiple keys at the same time, which was for me the case at least. Dunno if this helps you, @TataLup
[TFLM] axe9920 Players 7 posts 10,688 battles Report post #7 Posted May 18, 2019 LemonadeWarrior is right. It is a keyboard issue. Your keyboard is only sending 2 key presses at once to the computer. Open notepad and press several keys at once, you'll see how many it'll send. They can't fix this on the game end, but a better keyboard would solve it. More detailed explanation from Stack Exchange: "This is a hardware limitation of your keyboard. Unfortunately, the only solution is that you must purchase a better keyboard that does not have this limitation. To be more specific: In order to save money, keyboard manufacturers often put many keys on the same "circuit" of sorts within the wiring of the keyboard. This prevents multiple keys in the same region of the keyboard from being pressed simultaneously. Sometimes it even prevents more than 2 keys at all from across the whole keyboard being pressed at once. Often the shift, ctrl, and alt keys are not within this limitation, so you can hold shift and press 2 other keys at once and it will still work fine. Even high-end gaming keyboards often have a similar hardware limitation, although the cap is much higher so that it is unlikely to be reached during the normal course of gaming."
[OFFS] TataLup Players 159 posts 38,945 battles Report post #8 Posted May 19, 2019 Thank you all. I always wondered about the USB connection "width". It seems it's a 2 lane only street :( My issue is that when attacked by torps in a DD vs DD, I brake (cling, cling cling ...), steer and try to start smoke. Which fails. And I am devastated. Mechanical keyboards seem to irritate them a lot... so the distance might shorten abruptly.

It seems it's a 2 lane only street :( It doesn't have anything to do with the usb standard. It's an electro-mechanical issue with the sensors that register key presses. The term you want to know is "key rollover". A keyboard with 6 key rollover can register six simultaneous key presses. N key rollover means you can mash in every key at once and all will be registered. If you look at the specs or reviews of keyboards, the rollover number will usually be stated somewhere. Most keyboards wih mechanical switches have a high key rollover number, membrane type keyboards can have far less.

The only way seems to be to close the game and re-start again but then you cannot return back to the match after that. Very annoying, had it happen to me twice yesterday...

(i7 4th gen + gtx 750m) Yeah, funny enough I have had this same issue before. Some 2 years ago, used to have UI freezing over occasionally for a bit. It lasted some 6 months, then they apparently patched it up, since the problem disappeared by itself (right after they implemented the integrity check process on start-up). Now it seems to have come back again, not serious yet though played all Fri, Sat and Sun and only 2 freezes on Sunday. But the issue may also be due to me not re-booting my computer for 3 days. Not sure tho.
