I just had a battle with a division made from a Kongo and a Katori.

If I recall correctly a developer for WoT said that they were planning to introduce such a feature sometimes in the future. So maybe the developers in WoWs could nip this in the bud by introducing limits as to what tier-differences can be used in divisions early on.

I came across a Langley in a division with a pensacola and a cleveland.... in my lexington. Needless to say the Langley wasn't much use to his team.

 

I really hope they will implement something like that, cause it's stupid that it is even allowed.

 

Though we are still in closed beta, so doesn't matter for now.

How?

 

Their planes get shot out of the sky extremely fast by tier 5 kongos, everything at tier 8 has AA, and once their planes are dead they have virtually no reserve, and after that they're an extremely slow easy to hit matchbox with no guns.

Nope, I doubt that very much.

 

And I sincerely hope WG stop any kind of troll division for the release of Open Beta.

 

Never understood why its not programmed in by default, here and in WoT.

 

If a solo player can't do it, why the hell can a division/platoon?

There are a fair few ships that do very well in higher tiers of game. I`d rather have my tier 5 Japanese destroyer than the junk in the two higher tiers in that line.

If a Langley threw all of his fighters at one Lexington fighter squadron, I don't think they would be able to kill it. I think even just torpedo bombers would give the Lexington air superiority over the Langley's fighters.

edit: if a higher tier player really wants to play with low tier friends why can't he just drop down and join them, not exactly hard to do is it?

Drop down and join with what? Lets say you dont have anything below tier 7 or 5 as money maker, and your friend is starting now?

 

Personally I dont care will they be discontinued or not,  but they are with us for 5 years. I dont see what will make Wg proclaim them illegal and disband them now in 3rd game.

You can get a tier 1 for free and play with him, then earn the credits to buy some lower tier ships and play your way up with him. A tier 2/3 ship is about what? 20000 credits? You can grind that in a single game easily, so it's not like it's hard to be able to join in at his level as you already have suitable ships researched and getting the credits is a non-issue.

 

As for what would make WG make them illegal, I should hope common sense. Its been an annoyance in WoT for years having people who think it is appropriate to play their tier 10 with a tier 1. It is unfair on the rest of the team as they are effectively a tank down to all intents and purposes. I think I speak for most people when I say we'd be glad to see the back of them across WG's entire suite of games.

Then they should sell a ship, buy a port slot or just not play with him until he reaches a higher tier. If you want to play with a low tier friend then the onus should be on you to do so at a suitable level, it shouldn't hamper the rest of the people trying to play the game.

I would hope WG does not write rules in stone.

 

But the guy has a point. Maybe it would even benefit WG to give a reason to spend some money on game for extra slots to play with same tier with friends, who knows. It is just very negatively seen within the WG games to platoon with lower tier and unlike WG, the player base is dealing with the issue their own way which probably is more negative than what the response would be if WG would not allow such platoons.

I find this comment coming from a Senior moderator to be just staggering in how it completely ignores the issues caused by troll platoons, and how easy it is to remedy.

 

Drop down and join with what? --- Buy a low tier, they cost next to nothing, hardly an issue to play with YOUR friends.

Dont have a spare slot? --- then either buy one or sell a ship, again hardly much of a sacrifice to make for YOUR friends.

 

After all they are YOUR friends, not ours, either you want to play with them and make a very minor sacrifice, or you are just BS'ing.

 

Why should OUR team MM suffer because of YOU, when it is so easy for you to play at YOUR friends level?

 

Troll platoons are, at best, inconsiderate, and at worse a deliberate attempt to spoil other players enjoyment.

 

Either way it is long overdue for WG to ban them from ALL WG games.

 

There is absolutely NO logical reason to allow them, none whatsoever, as banning troll platoons does NOT stop you from playing with your friends, not in any way.

I don't think the troll platoons should be banned just prevented from being used in-game.  Maybe a one tier spread at most?  

 

When playing WoT I would have lower tier vehicles and use them to platoon with players who only had lower tier vehicles - I'd go as far as to play the same type of vehicle (light/medium/heavy/td/SPG) as the platoon mates.

 

While Wargamming does not prevent such troll platoons they will always appear in-game every now and then.  Just as will platoons that just want to shoot each other rather than the enemy - at least some sort of team damage system is apparently coming soon (remember that in WoT it took many years before intra-platoon damage counted as team damage).....

Well, in fact I dislike troll platoons too, because if they are in your team, your chance of victory is lowered. Especially carriers are no match for even a 1 tier higher opponent. On the other hand you can do very well with for example a tier 5 destroyer like the Grey... (I forgot the name, just insert some random characters, it will probably sound right ) in a tier 7 or 8 battle.

So I think, at least should WG finetune the matchmaker regarding the carriers, if they are in a division (platoon) or not.

Isn't there a 'battle weight' system now, in addition to tiers, so the tier 1 ship is basically 'free' for the team? That's why we get the 9 vs 12 fights and such?

Hello Anulmentor, You are misusing the word 'troll' when it comes to formations of divisions, especially in your example. It would be best implemented to describe 3 Yamato's for instance (although troll again is not the best name to use but OP instead). I have seen it many times and yes, it can have a very small impact on your team due to the lower tiers ships ineffectiveness compared to its higher tier siblings but not enough to rage about. By threatening to write tickets out because of this will not get you anywhere (except being sanctioned). When players division up with lower tier ships I would say most of the time it is to show the lower tier ships captain what it is like at higher tiers. Not best but strangely effective! Just ignore it and not treat it as serious, other issues demand more attention.
