Unique / Legendary upgrades for costly Ironium

Why should we choose this costly option?
Am I missing something here?

Isn't it the case, once you buy your tier 10, you get a special mission after the first battle in it.
So since you can only use that Unique Upgrade for that particular ship,... why just don't do the 5x mission and earn it for free!
I know these missions have to be done in that same ship, so for some ships this may take a lot of games.....

Are those missions taken out of the game? No, as far as I know. (although last few updates had some influence on some)

To save people from spending 600 expensive Ironium on an item.
It would be nice if we can clear things up a bit.

These upgrades are taking a very important spot as well.
So in some cases the profit isn't there at all... even negatively to important aspects.

And if you like to exchanges your 600 .... Well,
choose those Unique upgrades wisely , some ships will do the jobs quite fast... so buy the upgrades for the ships that will have a hard time earning it.
And don't buy a upgrade you like! Those upgrades are linked to only one ship!
That's why they are called "unique" and not Legendary.

Made a topic about it just to prevent players making mistakes.
Have fun all,
ZWC

A) Learn to paste as plain text, ffs.

B) Costly? Most of the fly, strike, win objectives this time around are easily completed if you just play the game, and the space battles are at least an amusing diversion.

Because doing the missions can be a Very Very long grind...

Its good that WG have given another way to get them.

Also the legendary module missions are (necessarily) super grindy, worse than any of the free ship sets or directives.

I tend not to play tier ten that much even though I have all the ships.

I like it as an alternative way to get one or two of the modules, skip the epic grindfest (especially for those that I wont be playing in Clan Battles any time soon). Nobody's forcing anyone to do it this way either - the missions are still there, so I really fail to see any downside...

A) good feedback! especially the ffs !
your reading problems ain't my fault.

B) Costl ! yes I know the get it for time earned Ironium isn't costly for quite easily done...
But incase you still need some.... they are 5000 gold for 240.
So If you want to buy a 600 Ironium uprade and for some reason you're  out of it... it cost you over 10000 gold...
Costly in my book.

You get Ironium by playing. Use it or leave it.

Simple reply as well, but okay.
Sure the played by Ironium is easy to obtain.
But if you only got 1 tier 10 ship you probably will have the time to play the missions as well...
Problem starts when more tier 10 ships are in harbor .... the case where you probably likr to buy those unique upgrades....

The "or leave it" reply tells me , you probably will not get my point.

Personally? Because grinding for Ironium takes less time than grinding for a Legendary mod from scratch

sure, agree.
I like the fact more options are been offered here.
And I already wrote that the grind for some ships is very time-consuming.

Agree, as I stated in my post.

Agree. grindy and nice to have more options of obtaining.
Downside ... not really.
But only as warning to look before you leap!

In my text I just stated that a carefully choose in this matter will be wise....
600 Ironium isn't cheap considered the 5000 gold to buy a 240 Ironium mission.

That's all.

Yes, sure.
I did get that part to begin with. but then many probably want not just one upgrade...
Or maybe want to get some of those commanders for some reason....
then you ran out of the cheap resources fairly quick.

Just a wondering / warning around the issue here,

Sorry if this was like that dark hard to read way.
Can somebody explain this, if it was like that to everybody.

And why could I see my text like the rest of the forum. ???

No problem. You make a  choice. Look at your mission progress and which upgrades you really want and decide.

Considering that only few upgrades are worth it, should be easy.

It's all about the use of the dark theme compared to the light theme.

Yhea ... I think you underestimate the amount of grinding needed for those modules.

I now have 6 tier 10 ships. And only two have any kind of progress into the  module grind. (Khabba is aaaalmost there)

If you don't play tier 10 games very often and don't play all that much, these grinds will cost you several months per ship. And that is if you focus that ship.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes me two years to get my shimi upgrade.

So yhea ...the option to buy the upgrades is very nice.

To put it simply:

When you copy-paste from somewhere (depending on the somewhere and what you do when pasting - Ctrl+Shift+V usually solves the issue) it can come with some unwanted formatting. When the text is black, it's not readable well in dark themes. When it's white, it's invisible in light theme.

It can be extremely hard to notice while writing when you accidentally happen to copy with formatting within the Forum itself: you copy from the same theme you're using, so the color scheme is the same and it's literally impossible to notice the difference from unformatted text. Only the people with the other theme(s) can notice the effect.

Sooo... don't buy it?

It's not as if any of the legendary upgrades are essential, and a lot (if not most) of them aren't even that worthwhile to use in the first place.

Honestly it pretty much depends on three factors

1. How much you enjoy the space battles and how fast you can get the missions done (=how many clueless 30-40%wr players are in your team)

2. How fast could you grind through the legendary module missions. how far ahead are you with those missions and are you in dire need to get a module asap or not?

3. Is there anything else for ironium you really really need?

For me there is nothing else in the armory that is even half as useful. Don't need signals or camos and I have no real lack of captains. Sure, any spare 10pt one is nice to have, but they are not crucial to me anymore. The only line I need to grind are the upcoming Russian bbs and the RN T10 carrier...

Except for the gearing Module I am also not much in a hurry and given the fact that I a) haven't cleared stage one of that one yet and b) rather play other ships that t10 ones on days where clan battles are running, the ironium route is less time consuming for me...

See, it's just a personal choice...

as someone who got em all all, xcept the cv ones (in progress):

u have an alternative way, go for it! i "almost only" did play t10 for half a year and i'm so done with it lol. also classically, a lot of times one will have periods of not acheiving anything worthwhile for the actual missions part, while may even having good games.

i indeed hoped we'll get chance to also get cv upgrades with this event, but can see reason we did not. 4 sure i'm not "hard-grinding" these like the ones b4.. done with it!

fun effect on te side: when now i get new t10's i tend to not to play them too much if there's no upgrdae to go for (or i do have it already).

simply because the feeling i had to go through while grinding em on ships i already did play 100's of matches on. felt totally like a punishment when they introduced the upgrades and former process not been taken into account.

What im interested in is what happens if i buy yamato leg mod for ironium, then later grind it with the mission. Do i get two legendary upgrades? Can i sell one?

I was wondering the same thing. I guess you will receive credits for it? Or you just keep a second one in case you potato and accidentally sell one :Smile-_tongue:

So, now it turns out that the grind seems endless to get those upgrades....
So the welcome option to buy it for Ironium is nice indeed....
It's very likely you want to buy at the least 2 ... so 1200 Ironium.
This amount you will not get by only playing.

So the option to pay real money (5000 gold) for 240 Ironium is a costly way to get these few upgrades ,
to those players that just can't resist or choose which upgrade to buy.

Now many of these unique upgrades thake the 5th spot in normal upgrades.... the slot where concealment is in.
Where is the benefit in that?
Z-52 looses 5% concealment when you use the unique upgrade.... (+5% for upgrade but -10% for missing normal upgrade)
And this down-side will be for more ships.

Does anybody know what unique upgrade is really helping lots , considering the lost of slot 5 or 6.

This info could help other players... wondering what to choose. or how to spend their valuable Ironium.

PS. to some players 5000 gold may seem peanuts,....
To many others , I'm sure,  this is quite a lot.

I'll be interested to see what happens if you get a duplicate upgrade too.

I don't have many T10s:

  • Groz - got the upgrade already.
  • Gearing - almost got the upgrade, so not worth spending the ironium.
  • Shima - upgrade useless, so not bothered.
  • Z-52 - as I recall, the upgrade is viewed as not worth it.

So, there's nothing that's worth buying for use right away, but if the 'duplicate' reward is worthwhile that might alter the equation. I'm assuming you just get either a duplicate module, or the credits though...
