I feel sometimes the community can be a bit overly negative, so the purpose of this thread is to focus on the better things.  Why do you play warships?  I mean you wouldn't still be here if it was all bad right?  Tell me some of the reasons why you log on to shoot big shooty ships with other shooty ships.

One thing I quite like is the collections, it adds some nice flavour to the game, and the constant stream of rewards and collections is satisfying.

Another thing I quite like is shooting big guns, obviously.

Apart from being on the forums and contributing in an unbelievably positive way (always and without exception :) ), ingame I like to flame people :)

With Conqueror, Wooster and with USN DDs from inside my little smoke bubble :)

And sometimes I remember that I don't need to shoot the green stuff :)

And I'm looking forward for to trying out my new flying megazao :)

Why ? You won't go to hell because you are already in it.....at least some religions say that. For all i know it might even be true if the protective "bubble" around you fails for some reason and you see some serious sh*t in the world showing what it really is.

But you are right...if it were not true we would make it a hell all by ourselves by hating each other for no reason at all.

"Lets be positive, for a change"

OK....I was going to say "I think that Wargaming mission design is awful"

so instead I'll say "I am positive that Wargaming mission design is awful"   :Smile_trollface:

ON TOPIC

What do I like about the game?

- Shoot-and-scoot mid tier cruisers (American, German, French + IJN Kuma)

- German Battleships

- German & British DDs

I'll be positive :

It's much better for me to spend my time elsewhere than playing battleshi*s.

I'm enjoying the heck out of the Russian DD line, at the Kiev so far and she's definitely a keeper (got the congratulatory camo for her some time ago, can't remember when, so she's already a premium ship :D). I mean watch this replay (sure I derp out at a few moments) and tell me the ending isn't hilarious and wouldn't have been possible without the ridiculous speed of the Russian DDs.

If I wasn't positive that this game can be lots of fun and has potential I would've long since stopped bothering to point out its flaws and just go play other games instead.

I'm being negative when I see nonsense because I care enough to try and help make it better. I like to think I'm being constructive about it most of the time.

For me personally I applied for Alpha in hopes of finding something new a speshul.

I had reached a point in wot were I needed something else.

WoWP and WT didn't provide that for me.

I was so lucky to get into the alpha, and I had a fantastic time. I however took 1 year off, a bit burned out from grinding the same lines 4 times.

I ended up going back to wot for a bit, but then I went full in on AW. They messed that game up with skilled MM etc.

So I went back to wot....but wot turned in a direction I didn't support at all.....the new arty rework with stun etc (I'm usually on the priority list for enemy xvm arties) and the new enhanced equipments.

So I went back to wows. And I was happy to notice the community was just as great as when I took a break.

I just wish the wot players of flaming, salty and etc etc wouldn't positively have migrated over here with their toxidity.

Worst flaming word for along time was noob.

I always loved naval history (I blame an elderly relative who used to tell me stories of his time in the navy when I was a child for that) so of course seeing such beautiful ships fighting it out is something I love, from the wonderful sound of the Yamato firing to the sleek lines of the destroyers I can always enjoy seeing.

Because quite frankly WoWs is a monopoly. If you want to play something with this specific scenario and type of gameplay you have nowhere else to go.

You can bet your aft that if there was a better alternative I would be gone in an instant.

Naval 'sims' have always intrigued me to some extent. This has been deep but not overly complicated. MP keeps it competitive and fresh enough. There are some current challenges to the game, but I agree that the negativity around these changes are out of proportion.

I'm fairly certain that of all I know about warships and naval history, I've learnt more than 99% over the last few years.

I'm looking forward to the eventual implementation of submarines. Provided they seem to add something positive to the overall game.

Me to , but I wish battles had become more realistic in nature ,with different objectives ,instead of so Arcade like , trashing CV play really hurts the game .

They first must have a reasonable fix for CV play or return to RTS CVs first , don't think its going to happen any year soon !

It's an arcade game with oversize ships and a flat ocean, I would prefer more realism but I'm really here for the ship models. It's also easy enough an old cripple like myself can play. I haven't had the reflexes to play other competitive MP since i played starcraft 15 years ago.

The constant player pool is also a bonus. I used to play Red Dragon but the hour long wait times for a 40 minute game are just beyond me now that I am used to the 2 minutes or so wait of WOWs.

And WT isn't really going to be the one. Tank department proved that already, while beating WoWp at planes wasn't hard to start with.

The game is mostly ok. Sometimes it's bad, especially if bugs and cheating get out of hand. Mostly, Wargaming seems to get it under control after a few days.

However, the community is always negative. Lack of common sense, playing experience and understanding is compensated by pure aggression.

I play it for this reasons:

1 - (and most important) I literally LOVE the IJN YAMATO, not only bacause of how she is, but also because i was born April 7th 2000, and the YAMATO was sunked April 7th 1945, so for that reason, she really means much to me. (posting an image just for fun)

2 - i like warships (i actually like planes more, but i don't like World of Warplanes)

I whould like if they give us more regular tech-tree ships, instead of continuously making premium ships and realising a new branch only a few times.

I learned about ships before ( was educated as a ships engineer, but never went to sea ) and read a lot about the Pacific war, Battleships and warship engineering but never saw anything but photo's, drawings in books and models in museums.

To have super detailed ship models to play with is the greatest attraction of the game to me. But the idea of fighting ships and aircraft was already there in the Amiga-era with playing Harpoon for hours. RTS CV did look a bit the part actually :-))

Someone said Submarines were not used in sea battles. He was right. But they sure were near sea battles, many crippled ship not killed by (own) DD were sunk by them. Many warships were sunk on their way to battles or on routine patrols.

But submarines did fight (escorting) DD. A staggering amount were lost due to submarines striking first or fighting back. Submarines even shot down aircraft, and a few specific ones were even used as RL lure&bait AA traps.

I think they can have a place in WOWS that is not based on pure fiction. The real submaries - except for the very late war ones - were just too slow to be in position to be in sea battles. But pre-positioned ( was attemtped a while before the battle of Jutland ) submarines could have.
